Indeed. He was in a good position to win the Indy 500 at the first attempt - which is no small feat. One can only imagine the colourful Spanish swear words he must have uttered when the engine gave up.

On the bright side, a former F1 driver did win it, just not the one most people were focusing on.

 

Hard to believe it was almost Max Chilton, too; he finished 4th and led the most laps out of anyone else with 50/200! 

 

Also have to mention Scott Dixon's huge crash...

 

That is a testament to modern-day safety right there; his car was destroyed, but he walked away uninjured.

Yes, was good to see Sato win. Alonso had a real chance to win it... until the engine let go. Dixons crash was crazy!

Red Bull fastest again. could make for an interesting race. Though it was a messy session, Palmer and Verstappen crashed and a lot of people bailing down escape roads (even created a bit of a traffic jam).
