I have two complaints:

1. It has some serious frame-rate issues on the Wii U (and it looks like it lowers the resolution in some areas).

2. Weapon durability: I never like this mechanic is any game but I'm willing to put up with it, but things break way too fast.

Other than that, it's really really really good. I don't really like other Zelda games (not since the SNES era) so it's a big departure from what the series has been for a long time.

Yeah, the frame rate can be funky at times. I've heard the Switch version has it worst for some reason.

Admittedly there are things I wish they had added. But I agree that it's a really great game.

I've been playing it. It's very good. I'll excuse the frame rate issue (very minor really) because the game is just that fun to play.

I absolutely love the game. I am also playing on the WiiU and I have noticed some frame rate drops, but nothing major IMO. I can't stop playing, I haven't had this much fun with a game since the Nintendo 64. It is like I have transported back to my childhood, it feels so nostalgic, while being new at the same time. Nintendo did a fantastic job. I am only a few hours in, I just finished the great plateau.

It only gets better. You're in for a treat. I'm a ways in now (20 hours or so) and still absolutely love it. A clear contender for the best game I've ever played.

You can turn it off very easily, Open map, press "Y". I actually do like it when I'm in "Hunting shrine mode".

I wouldn't turn it off because it gives you a general location of where they might be. I find that it's usually not very accurate when it comes to exact locations though.

I ordered the wrong expansion pass from Best Buy.  Since it was fulfilled, they can't cancel the order.  So I have an unused pass for the Switch.  If anyone wants to trade for an unused WiiU code, send me a message.  Thanks.

I been playing for a few weeks now and feel like I have barely scratched the surface of this game. In some parts the difficulty is insane. I really really hate those spider guardian things that can one shot you. When I see them I just take off running like a little girl with my hands up in the air. In most cases once spotted I end up having to just reload the save file again. I have never died so much in a game since Ninja Gaiden. My #1 dislike in all of this is the durability mechanic. Its stupid and it just ends up being something to artificially slow you down. Don't get me wrong I normally don't have problems with time sinks in games but this one is just frustrating because it always happens to me at the worst possible time.

The durability has also frustrated me, especially considering I am not that far into the game yet and do not have good weapons. Ill keep grinding though in my spare time, because I do still find it fun.

yeah the durability is a pain. i'm early on in the game and have run out of weapons more than a couple times and had to just reload because i can't find anything easy to acquire nearby.

I think this is the most frustrating part for me, running out of them and having to find some. I cheated a few times and used youtube to show me where a stash might be, rather than reloading. ha.

Eventually you guys will be throwing away good weapons for even better ones :p the game wouldn't be half as fun if you just used one weapon for the whole game.

Have not posted in quite some time here.

Just wanted to say I very well may believe BOTW is one of the greatest games ever made.

The Switch itself no doubt has a big reason for this belief. I am now 42 years old, my wife is 41, and I just do not get the TV like I once did. So my gaming time has been cut dramatically, especially the past year or two. I was lucky if I got 4 hours for a week.

The Switch has at least doubled that time. Playing BOTW I have probably played 90% of it on the "tablet" itself.

With that said, it helps BOTW is absolutely a brilliant game. Somehow they made an open world game that can still be played in bite sized chunks (the Shrines help a whole lot). But seriously, I almost always avoided similar games for the very reason I posted above. Just not a lot of time. But somehow as open and as epic as BOTW, I still feel like I get something done wether I play for 20 minutes or I play for 2 hours. Sure, sometimes the 20 minute sessions are me just cooking up recipes, but that is pretty damn amazing that I want to cook recipes for this damn game.

I have not touched any other game since I got my Switch. Even Mario Kart 8 which I also picked up, I have not touched it since I started playing BOTW. Just one of the better games I have played in a long, long time. And there is no end in site.

Been playing this a lot lately. It has really sucked me in.

I don't like the weapon durability stuff, but besides that it is pretty great.

So I recently played it for about 24+ hours and here are my thoughts

1) First, the weapons constantly breaking is HIGHLY annoying really put me off of the game. Upon Googling it you can even break the master sword, even though that is one of the only weapons that will respawn.

2) After all of that time playing, I only had 5 hearts and zero stamina upgrade. The only way i found to upgrade the hearts was to cash in on the orbs I found in the shrines. Which are all very repetitive.

The game does look good, but I felt like it took away from what the original had to offer. Wind Waker is still my favorite Zelda game 2nd is a link to the past. Personally, this game should have just copied Link to the past, it had all the best Zelda Elements. I have since gotten bored and stopped playing.

Nah, the best Zelda games were the ones released on the GB & GBC.

Started playing this again.  Got to the first machine thing to take over.  Think there is 4 of them.  Anyway, bosses are hard an a PITA in this game.  Maybe I am low level and need better equipment or something.  So I am skipping the boss and exploring now.

I recently started playing Skyward Sword again. I had played it before but the dowsing section was BORING AS **** and turned me off of the game. This time I pushed through it and after that it gets better. But Jesus what were they thinking, boring the **** out of the player at the start!. I do like the motion controls, I find it more enjoyable than Breath of the wild. I just found the first dungeon and it appears I need the bow and arrow to shoot the eye, but I don't ,now where to find it yet.

Yea, that is not available on the Switch I don't think.  BOTW is a fun game, just the bosses are a pain to beat.  And some of the tougher characters kill you  with 1 shot.  Again, I may need to beef up my armor/resistance. Still using basic armor as right now, rupees are not easy to come by.  May need to do some gem farming.
