same thing!!!...with unchecked "keep backup ups where applicable"

also noticed something...after update 100 or so i hear 5-6 beeps & 1 critical stop beep...but not a window opening saying whats the error

any thoughts or suggestions???!?!...eager to reformat once again!!!

:-)

Mkay, I just got everything to install. I took the full december and used the Jan Update on it. It worked fine. NET and WMP9 are all installed.

@flash_st -- yea I got that too when I tried to install Jan Full. The Dec FULL that I updated didn't make any beeps though

@FlishFun -- Norton Antivirus 2004 marked your nosearchasst.vb as a malicious file. I told norton to disregard it, but just FYI.

EDIT : P.S. I had the "Keep Backups if Applicable" UNchecked both this time (when it worked with update) and the first time (when it didn't work with Full)

EDIT2 : About hte limited user account thing you mentionted FlishFun, i'm administrator.

WHat I did....

1) I extracted the DEC FULL

2) Then I UPDATED the DEC FULL with the JAN update (the smaller 24.8mb file)

3) Then I ran Autopatcher

Everything I have checked so far seems to have been updated properly. WMP9, windows hotfixes in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.....

Oh and it didn't beep while it installed.

I tried comparing the Jan FULL to my UPDATED Dec FULL

The DEC FULL (updated to Jan) is 652 Files

The JAN FULL (that doesn't work) is 651 Files

The size of the DEC FULL (updated to Jan) is 294mb

The size of the JAN FULL (that doesn't work) is 294mb

It also bugs me that I don't know how to REALLY check whether my DEC FULL (updated to Jan) actually worked.

Maybe FLish or Raptor could post a screenshot of their ADD/REMOVE programs window so that we could reference what is/should be in there??

I have the same problem as everyone else. I reformatted my PC add applied the January Full update. Once I had applied it I went to windows update and was missing about 25 updates. I then basically told autopatcher to do it again and this time i selected only certain sections of autopatcher and did it that way. It worked but felt a little messy.

Previous versions of autopatcher have all worked without a hitch. What I did notice was funny that the patches seemed to zoom through as if they weren't being applied which made me worried.

i got the same difference too in those 2 directories...1 file

The one file difference, is that when you upgraded from Dec to Jan, I had it backup the old Dec Database. That's your extra file. (Y)

@nytmarezz - It shouldn't matter if it was an updated Dec, or a Jan full, they should be identical.

@SharkFiNbowL - Best news I've heard all day. lol

Well to make your horrible day go worse FlishFun. I am having the same problem. I just used AutoPatcher 4.2.32 on a clean install of winxp sp1 and although it claimed to finish the updates aren't all isntalled like they should be. I have DirectX 9.0a and WMP 8.0 and when I go to windowsupdate I get about 30 updates i'm missing. While the update was going I heard a few beeps and a critical stop beep just like flash_st heard but there were no errors. The other odd thing is the progress bar.. I started out incredibly slow and then I looked up after 15 mins it was at 47% and then about 5 mins later it was saying Finished... That doesn't seem possible. I've included the files you wanted in case it helps.

To add another missing thing I didn't get windows media player classic and my search animated character is still there even though it was supposed to be disabled.

This is my first time using this program and I would love to get it working as I tend to reinstall every couple weeks. I also have a friend who runs a computer store and is constantly downloading windows updates and this would really help me out.

Thanks hope it helps.

@Tambu - This is simply very very odd... I have no idea, honesltly, why it's doing what it's doing. I plan on testing this again myself the second I get a chance to. The odd this is, not one of the 3 people I had test this reported this issue... and I didn't get it either. It's very strange. :/ Don't worry you guys... the SECOND I get a fix, I will release a patch. (Y)

I tried my test machine using both ways. The full January, said I still needed many updates. Then tried the December with January upgrade. Actually with the upgrade I had a couple fewer updates I needed. Both ways left with with WMP 8.0. I'm running it again like someone else did previously to see if anything changes. Good luck Flish!!

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
