I am also in the process of troubleshooting this issue. I am Installing XP on an extra system I have and will report on this issue soon. I would also like to assure anyone thinking of ordering the CD that I am not shipping CD's until this is resolved. I know Flish will have a resolution within the next day.

I was wondering . is the january AutoPatcher XP . all good and ready to go? or is there some still some problems needing to be fixed in it. ?

I only have a 56k . but I make good use of it. I have the december version. and so far it seemd to install good. I just get a error during installing it. the description of the error is not readable. has ???? marks all over it. I just hit the ok button and go.

when I download it I burn it to a disc and use it from there. I also send it to a few friends to help out .

is the january one safe to download and install. I want the full version, becuase I will use it on new install operation systems.

I do end up formating a few times. so I dont mind testing this AutoPatcher XP .

also. I want to thank you guys for making this AutoPatcher XP . it is a very good program. and makes it real nice to have.

Hi all,

I decided to try the AutoPatcher for the first time today. I seem to be having the same problems that other people have reported. After running the Full January AutoPatcher and installing all critical updates, Windows Update still says I don't have them installed.

Some details that my be of use...

I did a clean installation of Windows XP on a VMware virtual machine. The XP CD is a Volume License version with SP1 and "Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939)" slipstreamed, and VMware Tools was the only software installed prior to running the AutoPatcher. Regional Settings are Australian.

This is a great product, and when this small issue get's resolved I'll be taking it everywhere!

there was a fix for that problem posted in the forums...

but i guess that doesn't matter anymore :)

i installed the january full today...and i had absolutely no problems. i think a few others are having problems though, i'd wait a bit and see what's discovered.

Ehrr ... i just reformatted and used the January FULL autopatch (no updating of old versions here)

All i did after the reformat was run Service pack 1a and then immediatly went to Autopatcher. Among other things, I had .NET and WMP9 updates checked in Autopatcher when it was installing. Here is the problem, I am looking at a .NET program that is refusing to run and WMP version 8, not 9 like I picked. Thinking that something WAY outta place was going on, I looked in the ADD/REMOVE programs .... not a single MS patch was/is listed

Something went MAJORLY wrong. BUT soemthing must have gone right too since I was able to install my ATI 4.1 drivers. You cannot install them unless directx 9.0b is installed, so SOME of the autopatcher stuff got installed....

What happened?? This happen to anyone else??

FYI, i thought something was fishy (no pun intended FlishFun :p ) when Autopatcher only took about 2 minutes to install everything.

I am going to reformat again tommorow. Hopefully there will not be a repeat  ......... *sigh* well there goes the last 4 hours of work

I too have just tried to install the FULL Jan edition, on a clean XP SP1 install, and there were lots of things missing from the AP install....

I selected all of the patches, and several of the compnents, and a few other bits...

I then ran windows update to see, and it said there were 14 critical updates available, and 15 components, including alot of stuff I had selected in AP, including, .NET, MP, Journal Viewer, Movie Maker....

It seems that something somewhere is going wrong with this version, the December Full AP worked fine for me (apart from the .net problem, which could be manually fixed)..... Im sure this problem can be identified...??

Im no expert, but will try to investigate what might be going wrong... Im sure if everyone does there bit, we can sort this out :D

Hmmm... well it seems someone else has this issue... how very bizzare. :/ Well, I'll try to do a fresh install today and see what I can find. Also, could some of you having this issue do me a favor?

Go to C:\Windows\System32

Zip up apxp_log.log and apxp_uid.log for me and post it, I'd like to see what they say. (Y)

checked that too...from the logs everything seems fine...

but considering the speed of the installation procedure (comparing it lets say with dec update) is a lot less...about 20mins for ALL the update...

p.s it doesnt even give me the error message supposed to be given when you uninstall messenger...:-)

Hmmm.... weird question... when it installs... does it seem to... well, like "zoom" through the updates? Like they just flash by really fast?

the first 80 or so (from 190 supposed to be installed) seem to install in "normal" time...but i noticed that the green bar dont got throught the whole length (the end of it) when something seems to be installed completely...is this normal?...

after the 100 update its zooming throught the updates like a breeze...but i think those are "small" reg tweaks so dont think it should stay long on them

Okay... huh, somethin' very odd is happenin' here. So it appears to install normally... but doesn't install... okay, are you on an account with Admin rights? And SP1 is installed?

i can reformat & do a clean install any time today...want me to try smth???

Hmmm... yes, if you would... do a fresh format/reinstall... install SP1, reboot... then install the Jan Update with Defaults checked... reboot, check Windows Update and report back... if you could. (Y)

already did this twice today...:-)

same thing both times...

any other alterations i should do?

Hmmm... okay, when you run the AP this time... uncheck "Keep backups where applicable"... and try it... let's see what happens. (Y) It should run a diff set of updates, with diff switches, wanna see if that helps at all.

    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
    • Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.
    • This Gigabyte AMD RX 9070 XT is very good deal despite the launch of 9070 GRE by Sayan Sen Recently we reviewed AMD's latest 1440p gaming card, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB, for $549. The card is in stock too at that price, though if you want significantly better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, the Gigabyte Gaming model of RX 9070 XT is currently on sale for just $650 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specifications of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G are given in the table below: Specification Value Core Clock Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz Game Clock: up to 2520 MHz Stream Processors 4096 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Size 16GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 256-bit Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Maximum Resolution 7680 × 4320 Multi-View Support 4 displays Card Dimensions L=288 mm, W=132 mm, H=56 mm Recommended Power Supply 750W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin Video Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB Graphics Card, GV-R9070XTGAMING OC: $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $740) This Amazon deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified. • Why does this kind of tactic not surprise me?
    • They used AI based TOOLS to convert the JavaScript engine (the main rendering engine is still C++) and it was not fully automated but was human reviewed. Other subsystems will be looked into to also be converted to Rust in the future. I have no problem with any of that.
