Fully recall doing this.  Anyone recall "poke cards"?

When I first started learning cobol as a nipper (Cobol, ah the memories), we had to write our programs on graph paper which were scanned and turned into punch cards. Then we would turn the crank handle to start the computer up

When I first learned COBOL we also wrote on special COBOL coding paper (had the columns laid out and marked). These were then sent off to the typing pool to be typed in and run. We'd then get the printout of the results back next day. Coding without ever touching a computer! Thankfully that didn't last long (couple months) before we got actual terminals direct to the mainframe (ICL 2900s and 3900s). No, I don't feel old, you're old!
