Yes, it is faster.  Just hope you don't have a dvd drive or you're **** out of luck.  Creative DVDA drivers cause BAD_POOL_CALLER bsod, as does installation of windvd and powerdvd, so I conclude that 2k3 has no dvd capability.  I had it running before I figured that out.  Just a little heads up for ya :)

If you are having issues with dvd playback under Win2k3 try using video lan client ( http://www.videolan.org ).. it plays almost everything i've thrown at it, even mpg/avi files that crash winamp/media player, a bonus is it plays dvds, vcds and will play bin/cue files without them being mounted via tools like daemon tools..

"Go get your refund << racial epithet >>, i aint dead"
Who i can download this VS? I like the start button.?:p:p

It's just classic with a custom start button (use tclock2 to change your start button)

I'm going to have to go ahead and agree with you </lumberg&gt:laugh:h:

hahaha funny nickname

And now i installed windvd 5 w / o any problem and it works too w/o any problem...

I stand corrected, but I'm not gonna reinstall 2k3 again anytime soon. I switched over to it for the speed, and I have learned today that a properly tweaked out XP install is just as fast, if not faster, than 2k3. Spent a few hours tweaking the registry and services, etc and now have a pretty speedy setup going on. Only thing I can't figure out is why aim.exe is taking up 24 megs of ram. Anyone have any ideas?

Back to the thread's topic, here's my desktop (click for 1280x1024 png). Disabling the themes service really gives the system that extra kick :)

Anyone looking for that Elisha Cuthbert wallpaper, look here - https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=142542
Except now you can't, sorry guys, I never said the pics were mine, obviously they were from a mag, but also from another forum, not from nwar as suggested in that thread, but another nonetheless. [this one - Big Pictures And rightly so, the thread was closed as I never said that they weren't mine, I'm seeking permission now, but I took them down from DA as well, so hopefully this will be sorted soon. Sorry for the inconvenience I caused by not thinking enough about my thread.

Ok, I contacted the guy whose pictures I used, not nwar as was suggested, andy5223 at this forum - Elisha Cuthbert Forum and he allowed me to post the links to my wallpapers on that forum here - Wallpapers based of Andy's Big Pictures

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
