*Definitely* was pre-planned to some degree (though I don't think CBS control room / cameramen knew about it), and these idiots running around now saying it was a "malfunction" are insulting.

Timberlake and Janet knew full and well what was happening at the bare minimum.

Oh, and by the way, the piercing thing Janet had is supposedly called a "medallion" -- it wasn't a "pastie" thing covering her.

Somebody's going to get busted for violating FCC standards, and the "accident" claim ain't gonna hold. Gotta love folk like Timberlake who think they can just lie and sucker 90 million people or so. Right.

Not cool for a program that a lot indeed watch with younger kids and stuff. I shudder at the kids on playgrounds emulating what they've seen this next week and beyond.

It WAS staged, because it was just as JT sang "Gonna have you nekkid by the end of this song", the fireworks went off, she has a new single, the cameraman knew exactly where to longshot etc.

But who cares? If she has to do this promote her new single (out today - crazy coincidence) then she must have little faith in her singing and resort to other means to sell.

It *was* premeditated.

MTV promised "shocking moments" in Janet's performance in advance. She didn't do anything else "shocking":

Cameras cut away and so on because the CBS cameramen and control room weren't informed in advance. Given they have sensitivities to FCC regulations and such, a camera wouldn't have even been on her had they known in advance.

Costume malfunction my a**, though, Mr. Timberlake. SHENANIGANS!!!

I think its like the Britney\Madonna kiss. They just wanted to get the spot light and sell some stuff.

Exactly. This is precisely what MTV, Janet, Justin...everyone involved wanted to happen: publicity and gossip.

I, for one, think CBS is the only party that's going to get screwed in this. Yeah, MTV did the halftime show, but CBS is responsible for what is shown. Unfortunately, MTV showed their true colors tonight by using CBS as a stage for their own personal gain.

One thing I did find kind of confusing, though: in the pictures AFTER it happened, Janet looks ****ed. There is a shot on MSN where she is evil-eyeing Justin while trying to cover herself up. And after looking at the pictures closely, I think the intention was for him to rip off the black part of the outfit to reveal a red bra or something. Look at the picture and you can see the red part at the top. It's obvious it was made to come off because it is button-on, but I think it was only supposed to take off the top layer.

Either way, it's a shame what this society has come to. And MTV is clearly showing it's desperation with Britney, and now this. I am almost afraid to see what the next "incident" is going to be. These people are immature and it's painfully obvious that their music talents suck that they have to resort to theatrics.

I think next year for halftime they should just have a Battle of the Bands. Get the marching bands from schools like Central Florida, Grambling, Southern, etc. and let them go at it. It would be far more entertaining and way better use of talent than these other clowns.

Look at the 3rd pic up above. The one on the right, where Justin is holding the piece of her clothing. You can CLEARLY see the red "bra" is only lace that is attached to the top of the black piece. ONly about 1-2 inches thick. YOu can tell its the BACK of the black piece b/c you can see the snaps. There was NOTHING underneath tha tbra piece, nor was there meant to be.

Its sad, but almost expected. THis is the way the world is going. THis is what we expect from MTV. THis is what we exspect from celebreties. Not only is it a sad self-promotion, but I think its in REALLY poor taste given everythign thats going on with her brother.

I am glad to see so many Neo-Winians disgusted by the performance!

yea but NOT on national TV and in front of cameras sending the image to thousands of homes during a ""sporting"" event in front of children. Now go back to your porno channel and perv away and stop assuming the rest of the world holds or should hold the same pathetic values you have.

    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
    • The "Show more options" has its place, as does the simpler context menu, but it should perhaps be a separate fly-out rather than relaunching the entire, old context menu. The old context menu was getting absurd in Windows 10. Often I'd have to make the context menu scroll just to get to "File properties" on my old laptop. Even without much installed, the amount of items was just too much. It's a context menu, not a "do all" menu. Making it configurable is fraught with challenges too, so I'm interested to see how Microsoft tackles this one.
    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
