Looking for collaboration software

Question

Semoguy

Why is there not a calendar that will display multiple concurrent events?   I have multiple client files or "events" that begin at the same time.  Whenever I attempt to enter this into google, outlook or any other calendar it is displayed side by side, which after 3 concurrent events, each become so small you can't read the event. I need a calendar that will display those events in a 1 line agenda view within the time cell that increases the height to accommodate the multiple concurrent events. I also need the ability to copy those individual objects and paste them on a new date.  Why is that not available? I have been forced to use a deprecated software called PhoneSlips, which no longer has web access to keep track of everything.  Ideally, I would like to see an app (pc and mobile) that incorporates this type of calendar view with, private and group chat, popup notifications, individual and group contacts, shared individual calendars, dialing and sms capabilities, screen sharing, file sharing, sending of phone messages to individuals, among other things.  Anyone have an idea?

I see what you mean, I just tried it in Microsoft Calendar included with Windows 10 and it puts it side by side for the same time slot, how many concurrent events are we talking because it seems like a unique case here. People aren't normally going to be saving multiple concurrent events in their calendars that they can't attend, are they?

Maybe a different kind of management tool needs to be thought of here like ToDo or a list manager that supports dates?

I suppose its a unique situation, but there should still be an option.  See the example where you have a group calendar for the office to keep all the appearances together,  then group all the counties/divisions together in a printable agenda to go along with files where one attorney makes appearances for others in the office and vice versa since 1 attorney can't be in 3 places.  Then be able to copy those calendar objects to a new date and check the old one off as completed.  We all use this ancient program because nothing else does this which is the quickest way of keeping track of all of it.  Some days there are 10x those entries and it just needs to accommodate that.  Attorneys all have this issue and you would think that someone would like to make a couple additions to their software and sell it to attorneys.  Attorneys have money to spend to make their workflow easier, but there's nothing out there.

UK: EE brings 5G connectivity to 12 more towns and cities
      by Paul Hill

The mobile network operator, EE, has announced that 5G has been switched on in 12 more towns and cities around the UK. According to the firm, the expansion makes EE “the number one destination for those wanting to get the best smartphone experience.”

The new locations where 5G is available with EE are Aberdeen, Aldershot, Barrhead, Blackpool, Castleford, Crawley, Mirfield, Oxford, Porthcawl, Shipley, Stafford, and Warwick. EE first turned on 5G in May 2019 and has since launched the service in a total of 112 towns and cities around the country.

Commenting on today’s expansion, Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer business, said:

EE claims it has the best balance of network speed and coverage when compared to the UK’s other mobile networks. It cited independent tests from RootMetrics which ranked EE first. It should be noted, however, that other networks claim to be the best and cite a plethora of analyses.

While a lot of the country is still not covered by EE’s 5G, it is available in many of the country's population centres so most people should be able to use it when they go into town to do shopping or to socialise. In the less populated areas, there is widespread 4G coverage so good speeds are still available on EE’s network.

UK: Report reveals the best mobile and broadband providers
      by Paul Hill

A new report from the UK's digital regulator, Ofcom, has found which mobile and broadband providers are the most and least preferred among the public.

The mobile company with the highest satisfaction ratings was Tesco Mobile which scored 97% on ‘satisfaction with overall service', 92% on ‘satisfaction with reception or signal strength', and 97% on ‘satisfaction with value for money’. Tesco Mobile scored above average in all these categories.

Three was rated as the worst for customer satisfaction scoring 89% on ‘satisfaction with overall service’, 75% on ‘satisfaction with reception or signal strength’, and 87% on ‘satisfaction with value for money’. Three was only in line with the average on the last category and the rest were below average.

In terms of broadband providers, Plusnet received the best rating scoring above average (93%) on ‘satisfaction with overall service’ and in line with the average for 'reliability of service' (85%) and 'speed of service' (82%).

The worst broadband provider was TalkTalk, scoring below average for 'overall service' (78%) and 'reliability of service' (75%). Only in the ‘speed of service’ did it get an average score of 76%.

Ofcom also brought attention to Virgin Media saying its customers had to wait longest to get calls answered and were less likely to be satisfied with the handling of their complaint.

If you’d like to read the full 38-page report which contains all of the intricate details of the research, you can download it from Ofcom’s website.

Facebook announces the old layout is going away in September
      by Paul Hill

For quite a while now, Facebook has been allowing users to switch to the new user interface but has always offered a way to switch back to the old layout. Facebook is now displaying a message explaining that the old interface is going away in September.

      The new message reads:

The pop-up also highlights some of the key new features of the interface including its cleaner look, bigger text, quicker loading times, and a dark mode that can be optionally turned on by heading to the drop-down menu.

Facebook’s new interface was first unveiled at F8 2019 which was held in April and May of that year, it was subsequently made available for users to switch to in March of this year.

The new interface is much more like that of the Facebook mobile app with a simple navigation bar that gives quick access to different sections of the website including Watch and Marketplace. The Facebook logo has also been completely redesigned compared to the one of the classic Facebook interface.

A word of warning, extensions like Social Fixer still do not work on the new layout but for the time being, you can switch back to the old interface, but with it being scrapped in a matter of weeks, there is little point in switching back, maybe the time can be better spent getting used to the new design.

MSI unveils new creator desktop PCs with 10th-generation Intel processors
      by João Carrasqueira

MSI has unveiled a couple of new product lines aimed at creative professionals, including desktop PCs with the Creator P100 series, and monitors with the Creator PS321 series.

The Creator P100 series includes both the Creator P100X and Creator P100A, and they feature top-of-the-line specs in a chassis that's not as flashy as the company's gaming products. The PCs come with 10th-generation Intel Core processors, up to an Intel Core i9-10900K, and graphics up to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The desktops feature a Thunderbolt 3 port, in addition to a couple of USB 3.1 Type-A ports.

MSI didn't reveal a ton of information about the products, but the Creator P100X is already listed on its website, shedding light on all of its specs. In the UK, storage configurations go up to 4TB of HDD storage and a 1TB SSD, while RAM maxes out at 64GB depending on the model. On the U.S. website, the only configuration available has a Core i9-10900K, a GeForce RTX 2080 Super, a 1TB SSD and a 2TB HDD for storage, and 32GB of RAM.

MSI also announced the Creator PS321 series of monitors, which feature a design inspired by art pieces such as Vitruvian Man and The Harlequin's Carnival. In terms of specs, the monitors can be used in either 4K resolution at 60Hz or QHD resolution at 165HZ, and they cover 99% of the Adobe RGB color space with a Delta-E lower than 2. They also sport up to 600 nits of brightness.

MSI didn't say when the products would be available, and only the Creator P100X is available on its website. The aforementioned U.S. configuration is available for pre-order for a base price of $2,699.
