I decided to start a topic for people, like myself, who are enjoying the game so far and might like to talk about it.    Feel free to drop any info on things you've found, what you'd like to see in the future etc.

Personally I'm waiting for more post-ending DLC that keeps the story going in some fashion.

Rumors going around from so called devs/insiders that they're planning to pull a No Mans Sky 2.0 update and rerelease the game around June.

It sounds like chunks were removed due to bugs and that the suits didn't want to delay the game even more.

Personally I'd like to get a steady flow of updates and free DLC to fix, re-add and expand the city even more.

There are lots of doors that are "locked" for example which tells me we were going to be able to go into those places but they cut it out.

I played the game for a few hours during launch week when I was on parental leave and my oldest was at nursery. And I haven't been able to pick it up since. :(

Only played around 4/5 hours but I like what I've seen so far. It does feel like it's going to be a great game but I don't think I've played enough to make that judgement.

I've played enough.  There's a crap ton of content in here and I don't feel like I'll be done anytime soon.

The only complaints I have on PC are occasionally the AI will glitch and stuff won't happen like it's supposed to, and after a little bit most of the game is crazy easy.  I feel like I don't even have to try anymore unless its stealth which I'd rather not do anyway.

Yeah, if you take the time to level up your character and armor, weapons like I have you can get pretty crazy strong.

They'll have to go in and either cap how high you can spec your gear or, better yet level up more of the enemies to scale closer to you.

For example I've got my armor up over 4k, which means I can eat up bullets for a while before my health starts to go down.

But it's not like you don't have to work to get it that high to begin with. You have to find the right gear to start and you need to level up your crafting skills.

As far as the AI issues I hope they fix those up as well because it does make it easier when they just forget about the whole idea of using cover.

I'm at the extreme other end, I've got over 120hrs in so far. Trying to get all the vehicles but it's going to cost a lot and take a good bit of time to get enough money.

It was worse at launch so I'm not too worried, but some of the console glitches I've seen seem to be the same thing.  I don't usually have other issues but once every time I spawned a car it'd be inside another car.  It was funny.

I do like how you can basically steal anything from most anywhere and nobody actually cares.  Got one of my favorite guns that way.

...I mean sure it's a semi normal RPG thing but in a city it just feels...kinda dumb.

They'll have to update the NCPD systems so if you do crimes they start to look for you, then tweak the NCPD scanner gigs so that doing those would win you favor with them and get rid of any negative stats.  It's clear that they never got around to doing what they wanted with the cops in the game.

Hope it's one of the things they fix for sure.

I've seen a lot about this, from the crazy hype, the delays and the fallout of the last-gen console issues.  What I'd like to ask is - Will my PC play this?

  • Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00ghz
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
  • Samsung SSD 850 Pro - 512gb
  • 16 gb RAM @ 2133ghz

It's not the newest system ever, but... it shouldn't be retired yet?

I'm guessing you're going for 1080p right? I think you can run it fine with medium settings.

For example here are my specs.

Intel i7 6700k @4Ghz

16GB RAM

GTX 1070

I've got film grain off and the lensing effect off as well.

Two shadow settings are are set to medium and everything else is set to high. I run it fine, good chunk of screen tearing but I can live with it personally.

Thanks.  I've no interest in 4k gaming, so yeah 1080 would be my target.  I assume my weakest component here is my GPU?

I'd say yeah. Go with medium settings and if it's a issue you can set the NPC crowd size to low instead of high.

I also have AA set to 8x.

Played 156 hours total on my first player (Male Nomad), 24 hours on my second (Female Corp) so far.  On my second one, I played differently:

Spoiler

Since your character is pretty much crippled afterwards, I only completed the story mission up until it was time to go to the Afterlife.  I then went around and completed all of the Watson Gigs and Police actions and did a lot more exploring this time.  I was able to get to Level 16 and Level 43 Street Cred before I had to give in and continue the story mission.  I could have tried to get even higher, but I was just roaming around looking for groups of gang members to off, which got tedious.  I did not use a vehicle unless it was required to complete a mission.  I also did crafting a lot this time through, I didn't do any crafting at all on my first play through, until near the end.  I do wish that what you did up to this point actually affected the game afterwards.  There is really no reason to even try during the heist, the result is not going to be any different no matter what you do.

I am playing on a PS5, and get 5 - 10 game crashes per day.  I have been using quick save a lot, to limit the frustration.  I do wish you could skip the intro stuff after a crash.

Sucks about the crashes for you. On pc I've only had one crash but I think it was because I was going in and out of the settings changing things and reloading the game quickly that it gave in. Other than that no crashes when just playing the game normally.

Fun game.  Look online for hidden stuff and youtube videos.  You can get a pet cat, there is a secrete quest to get a free bike, and you can get a free car as well.  Just a few things to look for.  On my 2nd play thru.  First time, I did the Nomad. Now, Corpo.

XBOX New Gen.  Not really many crashes.  Times when game freezes and exits out of or the XBOX turns off.  But I get that with other games as well.   Times when text/items picked up stay on the screen.  Or sound cuts our and other minor issues.  Can be solved with saving/reloading the game.    No game breaker issue for me really.

Also, lots of free legendary gear and armor laying around.  Youtube videos show that.

On XBOX New Gen.  I maybe get 1 crash during a 7hr play time.  I did find that if my console was vented properly, it would overheat and crash more often.  So I moved the position for better air flow.

It really does pay to explore the city more, you can find top level stuff if you go looking for it.  Also many side missions don't trigger unless enough in-game time has passed.  There's also a number of them that are hidden, meaning no map markers, and you can to more or less find them/run into them as you explore.  Just when I thought I was done with any side stuff I got a call out of the blue from a pretty minor side character to help with something.  Just one example.

I expect to get more of these type of minor side missions/gigs for free in a few future updates as we build up to whatever main story expansion DLC they have planned.  I can't wait to get more personally.

I'm playing on Series X and thankfully no crashes yet, but I've not played anywhere near the same amount as you guys.

Like you though, one of the first game that I played in earnest on my Series X was Arkham City and that crashed every few hours.

Little annoying bug popped up for me.  Silverhand dialog stays on the screen and will not go away unless I toggle the subtitles on/off.  Then it is gone until I reload a game or restart the game.  So every time I start the game, I got to toggle the subtitles off/on.   Outside of the city, diff dialog pops up than outside the city.  Not a game breaker, just a minor annoyance.

That sucks, I hope we're getting the first big update this month. Last thing we need is them to delay any of these future updates.

It's clear that they've left out a bunch of side missions and gigs. Some fixers like Regina gives you a lot of jobs and a few others only give you 3 or 4.

I'm craving more content asap.

They should have waited longer to release the game to be honest.  But they were getting death threats when they delayed it last time.  Partially the fans fault for how it turned out.

I would love to be able to customize the vehicles you get.  Also, to be able to change your look.  Also seems odd that no one is driving motorcycles cept you.  Yes, you see gang members have bikes but they are always parked and they never ride them.

Yup all of those things need to be added back in with these future updates.

Also we need to see some better representation of public transportation imo.

You have the fast travel points and that's cool but I'd like to have some options to ride a bus or the trains and check out the city when I don't want to drive around.

Google promises 100 games coming to Stadia in 2021
      by Usama Jawad

Google's Stadia has been making the headlines recently, but not for good reasons. A couple of weeks ago, the company announced that it is shutting down its Stadia Games & Entertainment division, which was responsible for developing exclusive games for the platform. Earlier this week, we also found out that the Stadia version of Terraria is canceled because Google has disabled the developer's account.

In a bit of relatively more positive news today, Google has announced that more than 100 games will be coming to the platform in 2021.

The promise of 100 games this year is a bit of a downgrade compared to the 120 it vowed to bring to the platform in 2020. However, this shouldn't distract from the fact that this is still a significant number. Google has also revealed the names of nine titles that are coming soon, and they are as follows:

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition - February 23 Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut - February 23 It came from space and ate our brains - March 2 FIFA 21 - March 17 Kaze and the Wild Masks - March 26 Judgment - April 23 Killer Queen Black - Coming soon Street Power Football - Coming soon Hellpoint - Coming soon Other games slated to release in 2021 also include Far Cry 6 and Hello Engineer. Stadia currently offers over 100 games to stream over the internet, with the promise of more to come. A few months ago, a Stadia executive stated that Google is tracking development for 400 games from 200 developers. It remains to be seen whether the company will be able to keep up with this figure, but the latest announcement will certainly restore some amount of confidence for users of the platform.

CDPR advises caution in using Cyberpunk 2077 PC mods after discovery of security exploit
      by Usama Jawad

To say that highly-anticipated 2020 title Cyberpunk 2077 has had a rough going since launch would be an understatement. The game has been plagued with serious performance issues - especially on last-gen consoles -, bugs, and glitches. Despite all of this, it is important to note that it still managed to sell over 13 million copies in a few weeks. Now, the game's developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has advised caution when using mods in the game after the discovery of a security exploit.

CD Projekt Red says that there are some vulnerabilities in the external DLL files that the game uses, so it is advising against using custom mods and saves in Cyberpunk 2077's PC version for now. The title's official Twitter support account had the following to say:

While it is unclear as to when a fix will be released, custom mods are an important component of the PC version of the game, so it is likely that this is a high priority issue for CDPR.

This is just one of the many things that the developer will be working on in the near future. The firm promised two major patches in the first half of 2021 to fix performance issues in Cyberpunk 2077. The first one was released just a few days ago but contained new game-breaking bugs as well, which the company addressed in a hotfix. CDPR has also modified its dedicated webpage to indicate that DLC will be coming in the "coming months"; the company had previously made a commitment of "early 2021".

That said, you should definitely hold off on using custom mods and saves from unreliable sources as the vulnerability is quite serious in nature. The developer will likely be releasing a patch for this issue within a matter of hours or days.

Plex announces Arcade game subscription service for $4.99 per month
      by Jay Bonggolto

Plex announced today a new game subscription service that features a whole library of retro games. The new game streaming called Plex Arcade will cost $4.99 per month.

Subscribers can play games on iOS, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Windows, macOS, and Android devices. Plex says it plans to add support for more platforms in the future.

For the new game subscription, Plex has teamed up with Atari whose titles such as Centipede, Lunar Lander, and Motor Psycho, among others, will be available to customers. The company also partnered with Parsec whose technology helps to improve the players' gaming experience by reducing latency.

To start playing retro games, you will need a Plex Media server version 1.21.2 or newer on Windows or macOS. You also need to connect your Parsec account to your Plex account. Supported controllers include any Bluetooth or USB game controller, although Plex recommends a Sony DualShock 4 or Xbox One controller for best performance.

Arcade is available starting today and you can sign up here. For Plex Pass subscribers, the service will cost only $2.99 per month. There's also a seven-day free trial if you want to test the game subscription first.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is still listed as coming in 'early 2021' but don't get your hopes up
      by Usama Jawad

Highly anticipated CD Projekt Red (CDPR) title Cyberpunk 2077 has had a messy launch, to say the least. Following numerous complaints about the game's performance on consoles, it was removed from the PlayStation Store, with full refunds available to both PlayStation and Xbox players. CDPR was also forced to issue a public apology about the state of its AAA title, and vowed to address concerns in 2021.

Recently, some news outlets have started highlighting that CDPR has published a new webpage which indicates that the company plans to release free DLC in "early 2021". Unfortunately, that's not quite right.

While the webpage is indeed live and legitimate, it was updated on December 13, as noted by Engadget, using the Internet Archive. This date falls before CDPR's apology on December 14. The webpage was just not picked up by outlets and fans back then.

Indeed, it would be strange for CDPR to suddenly start advertising new DLC when tens of thousands of people are bemoaning the pitiful state of the game on their respective machines. It is also important to note that the company has promised to release major patches in January and February this year.

That said, this also does not outright mean that DLC won't arrive in early 2021 at all. It is quite possible for different teams to be working on different portions of the game. Some could be working on optimization and performance tuning while others could be working on DLC. That said, it's probably safe to say that given the current situation, if CDPR does manage to hit its "early 2021" DLC deadline, it's going to be cosmetic DLC such as weapons and skins, or minor quests, rather than full-blown extra story content.

This would not be too different from the company's previous hit The Witcher 3, for which CDPR released multiple minor DLCs along with two excellent expansion packs in the form of Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. We'll likely learn more in the next few days, but it would be wise to keep expectations in check for now.

Huawei removes all Tencent games from its app store due to legal dispute
      by Usama Jawad

Despite being one of the biggest smartphone maker in terms of units being sold globally, Huawei has recently been facing a lot of troubles with its partners. The U.S. government is cracking down on Chinese technology and the UK is following suit as well. Now, the company finds itself in a legal dispute with fellow Chinese firm Tencent.

Bloomberg reports that Huawei has removed all Tencent games from its app store. The reason for this is apparently a "big change" that Tencent made on December 31, 2020. The notification shown on Huawei's gaming app doesn't go into further details, but the company says that the decision was made after an internal investigation by its legal team, which also claims that Tencent independently concluded that it doesn't want to continue cooperation with Huawei.

      Meanwhile, Tencent stated that:

Based on the wording, it would appear that an existing agreement between the two parties expired before a new one could be reached. As a result, all Tencent games such as Arena of Valor, Honor of Kings, and PUBG, among many others have been removed from Huawei's app store for the time being. It's unclear if and when a new agreement will be ratified between the two companies.
