JLabs launches a $49 JBuds Frames attachment to make your glasses smart

If you wanted to try out Amazon Echo Frames but were put off by its $250 price tag, JLabs has a cheaper alternative for you. The company has launched an attachment called JBuds Frames that turns your existing glasses into smart ones.

JLabs claims that it is a universal fit that works with any type of eyewear with a temple width of less than 4mm. It comes with four silicone sleeves tailored to accommodate different eyewear sizes.

Each JBuds Frames attachment has an open speaker design with a 16mm driver. It connects to your smartphone over Bluetooth 5.1 with support for AAC and SBC audio codecs. The device offers a variety of EQ presets including its signature Bass Boost. However, due to the lack of isolation, don't expect it to sound as punchy as your in-ear monitors. On the other hand, JBuds Frames will be more comfortable than sticking things in your ear.

Each frame packs in a 120mAh lithium polymer battery that offers over 8 hours of playback or up to 100 hours of standby. It takes around two hours to charge the JBuds Frames. Both the frames feature a button for essential controls such as power, volume, skip track, play, answer a call, hang up, and activate Siri or Google Assistant. It is also equipped with microphones to let you receive a call without having to whip out your smartphone.

JLabs Frames are available for $49 starting today. You can order your pair by following this link. JLabs offers a two-year warranty on this product.
