Watch it [Operation Fortune (2023)] on Amazon Prime if you have it.

I watched that movie back in March and I like that one to as, at least currently, it's a movie worth re-watching from time-to-time which is what ultimately makes or breaks movies in my book (of which only about 20% of everything I have seen (i.e. I have seen 2,350+ movies in total) is worth re-watching).

in fact, while I am sure some will disagree with me, I prefer that directors (Guy Ritchie) more recent output (i.e. from 2015+ (as all of the movies of his I like are from 2015 to date)) than his older movies that some praise and he's probably most known for like Snatch (2000)/Lock Stock (1998) which are pretty much forgettable if you ask me (basically not worth re-watching). my #1 movie from that director would be 'The Man from UNCLE' (2015), which is among my favorites in general. even outside of UNCLE... next in line for me would be pretty much The Gentlemen (2019)/Wrath of Man (2021) etc.

p.s. I know Statham basically acts the same in general, but that's what he does. if he acted any differently, it would seem weird since everyone is used to Statham being Statham with his usual accent. so I liked Statham and Grant in the movie the most even though others had their bits and pieces that were decent enough to.

BlackBerry (2023)

It's not historically accurate... but I love a good tale of the rise and fall in the tech world.

And it's got Dennis from It's Always Sunny...  😎

I liked it!  Very entertaining!

Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves

Nothing to write home about, but I thought it was pretty good. There were some genuinely funny moments which reminded me of the silliness we used to have in our own campaigns.

Oh man, that long druid scene... That was like, at least a dozen natural 20 rolls in a row!

Extraction 2 - IMDB - Netflix

I fell asleep.  Some good camera work (like a real-life video game) ... lots of fighting and bloodshed.  However, it wasn't fun.  It was just a dull and boring movie.

Did you watch the first one? How does 2 compare?

I watched it when it first came out ... don't really remember too much about it though.

Me neither, it was one of those kind of films. I'm just wondering if E2 continued the trend. I guess you provided the answer.

Maybe I'll stick it on some time when I've got nothing else to do.

Avatar: The Way of the Water (2022) IMDB 7.6 | My rating 7.0

Well that's three hours of my life I will never get back 😛

It wasn't a bad film but it dragged on with many cliches that didn't really need to be told in CGI. It felt like I was watching a 3-hour-long gameplay trailer, and I discovered there will be 3 more films released over the next 8 years. I think the rating tells you all you need to know, truly great would have been 8 or more on IMDB but it falls short of it.

Society (1989) IMDB 6.5 | My rating 5.0

I normally like these sort of films, but it seemed to fall apart in the third act, and then I read on the trivia section how the director changed major parts of the film during and even after filming which made sense to me. I think its rating is absolutely due to the cult following it gained.

Watched Extraction the other night and I'm annoyed there is an Extraction 2, feels like it really cheapens the ending of the first film.

I watched the sequel and am glad they did it tbh.   It gives you some added character development which is good to see, and the action set pieces are even better.    I want to see where they can take it next.

Just watched Fast X. As dumb as the last few, but I love a mindless popcorn flick. Gotta wait for Fast XI or Fast X 2? whatever they call it...

I've never seen any of them, but it's on my list to start from the first one and then I'll see if I continue.

Barbarian (2022) IMDB rating 7.2

"In town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb rental late at night only to find that the house has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest."

It was a really good film, aside from the obvious politically correct messaging undertones, I still feel it was handled well considering the film was written off the entire premise which is also part of the plot description.

A solid 8.0

I personally loved Extraction 2. Some very cool camera work like it was a video game. It even sounded like Call of Duty with the radio talk. I see myself watching this many, many times. I would say 4/5 for me at a minimum.

I thought it was good too. The problem was, after the brilliantly done 22 minute "one shot" at the start, it then became just another cat and mouse film. I enjoyed the first one more if I'm honest. But that first sequence was phenomenal and makes it worth a few rewatches...

Barbarian was also pretty good, just ......odd. But, the horror genre needs switching up, so you gotta come up with something different...

When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.

Do Gen Z really talk that way to each other like in the film? It must get tiring having to remember all the ailments that can "trigger" a person.

Anyway the film was more fun than I anticipated and there was a fun twist. It was a shame there wasn't one likeable character though, they were all awful. I guess "Emma" was my favorite.

Largely forgettable though. My rating: 6.0 (just above average).

I watched Extraction 2 last night. Phew, it was exhausting!

The film is basically two action sets separated by about 5 minutes of peace in the middle. And those action sets do not let up at all. It's completely over the top and absolute nonsense if you take a moment to think about it, but it's fun.

I've seen some reviews saying that it is better than the first, but I don't really remember anything about the first so I can't really compare.

6/10.

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
