WhatsApp makes iOS status sharing faster and more convenient

The latest WhatsApp for iOS update makes it easier to share media from other apps to their status updates by removing an intermediate step.

WhatsApp for iOS 25.22.83 has just been released via the App Store for all users, introducing a feature that lets users share media from other apps directly to their status. The feature simplifies a previous, more complex process where users had to navigate through WhatsApp and select contacts before finding the option to share to their status. After the update, users will see a “My Status” option directly in the iOS share sheet, which is a fairly significant change.

The feature is currently rolling out to some users and will be available to more people in the coming weeks. The same feature was already released for Android, so this brings iOS up to parity.

With this feature, it streamlines the WhatsApp experience, allowing iOS users to skip an intermediate step by allowing users to add content to the WhatsApp status editor in one click. The status editor allows users to add other elements like text, emojis, and drawings before publishing. The update should save users time and reduce the number of taps required to share content.

Sharing media to status updates on WhatsApp

With this update, iOS users will have feature parity with Android users, at least with regards to sharing content as a status. The version number of the iOS update is 25.22.83. While you might get it right away, the rollout is being described by WABetaInfo as a phased one so some users may have to wait for a bit before getting it. The benefit of a phased rollout is that Meta can learn about any issues before pushing it to everybody.

By making the sharing to status feature easier to use, WhatsApp encourages more frequent status updates from users, boosting overall engagement. Many users who pick an iPhone over Android do so for the simpler experience, with the latest update, Meta is making WhatsApp a little bit easier on iOS, giving users what they’d expect.
