Splash is a lightweight media player focused on smooth HD video playback with an emphasis on performance and simplicity. It handles high-definition content efficiently, offering fast startup times and fluid playback without requiring additional codecs.
The player supports both video playback and conversion, allowing users to work with their media files directly. Launch times are quick, and HD videos begin playing almost immediately after opening the app, which helps keep the experience responsive even on modest systems.
Subtitle support is also included, covering both internal and external formats. Users can adjust common subtitle settings such as font type, size, color, and position to better match their preferences or viewing environment.
Picture² - stunning video quality:
Advanced picture post-processing engine, delivering stunning video quality. Watch standard and high definition videos like never before, enjoy smooth motion, crisp details and vivid colors.
Picture² is a video enhancement and playback component designed to improve overall visual quality through advanced post-processing. It focuses on producing smoother motion, sharper details, and more vivid color reproduction when viewing both standard and high-definition content. A demo mode is available, allowing users to compare the output directly.
Splash 3.0 Beta changelog:
- The new version works on old and new systems. New systems (Windows 8.1/10/11) use DirectX 11/12 and for older systems DirectX 9 is used.
- The Export/Transcoding mode is locked in this initial release but will be unlocked soon.
- Motion interpolation works for SDR and HDR10 video (also tone mapped HDR to SDR) but only in dithered 8bpp (10bpp will be added later this year as it requires gigantic changes in motion interpolation engine).
- Splash 3.0 does not require admin rights for installation.
- A new, high quality subtitle renderer has been implemented for even better visual quality.
- Motion² UHD/4K is automatically enabled on a clean installation on systems with 6 or more physical CPU cores. Enabling motion smoothing for 4K content on slower CPUs might cause stuttering of video and audio.
Splash 3.0.1/3.0.2 update:
- Added all video filters to DirectX 11/12 mode for improved compatibility and feature parity.
- Hotfix for MKVs with unordered video clusters (what caused random glitches)
