I voted for XP because it finally bridges the gap between 9x and NT. Now there is a single codebase, so compatibility is no longer an issue. Not to mention all the new features in XP like System Restore, driver rollback, Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance, ClearType, Internet Connection Firewall (soon to be Windows Firewall), and a ton of other things.

I would say Win98SE & Win2k are pretty much the best. Does anyone care? I didn't think so.

What is the best OS? Whatever YOU think is the best. The way I use my computer is way different from the way you use it. My threshold for the amount of blue and random fields/highways on my desktop is also different.

Running it as a workstation and have to say, its faster then XP, on par with 2000 and contains so much more secuirty and useful features. Its an awesome upgrade from 2000...I was very impressed to say the least and was very reluctant to dump 2000, but with its end coming soon, it was time for an upgrade.

Exactly, Xp is an OS with the stability of NT and the fun of 9x all together, also has the visual styles, etc..

and for older computers i agree win2k is by far the best one

Its nothing like XP. Longhorn is going to encorporate XML and become much more of an "efficient" OS. Its a radical new deisgn from the ground up on many accounts...

XML is easier to code and contains up to 60% less...resulting in a far better and more manageable piece of software...
