My brother has one of those phones and was complaining about the poor battery life on it. I had a look on t'internet and found that people were reporting significant improvements in battery life if they took out the memory card when they were not using it. I told my brother about it and he says it lasts on average 2 days more.

Great review. I would have to agree with other people who point out the poor quality battery life. I have had this phone for 6 months, and it is great, but the battery life really makes anything more than a full days use out of the question. Just don't forget to charge it.

Camera is great on it(video mode is fantastic). Bluetooth support good as well. Love syncing with my outlook at work.

battery life is poor due to drain by the expansion card. this has not been fixed yet. The software is also pretty buggy if you dont reboot every day. mine has a tendancy to ring and not allow answer!!! (handy feature for a phone!).... despite some minor bugs, its a great phone, made even better by the roll out cloth keyboard (i picked one up for ?30 on ebay)

plus, the spectrum emulator (pocket clive) is absolutely fantastic!;))

Yup, the P900 is much beter phone than the E200...touch screen, stable, good battery life (I get 5 days with moderate use), cool mp3 ringtones. Superb Symbian OS with loads of great s/ware (yes Doom too, MAME, Lemmings, Vrally, Sega and a load of other emus (Wonderswan?!) etc etc).

BUT it's got a *sucky* Sony Memory Stick that only goes up to 128MB - and that costs 45 quid...wot a rip

The E200 wins here, the SD is a great format. The E200 is probably better value too, but I only paid ?39 for my SE P900 on an upgrade :woot::

Voodoo: Cheers! Knew I didn't write all that for no reason! ;)

jh_newroom: Video most definitely is QUALITY compared to ANY other handset. Even NeYo will admit that it kicks his P900 in the balls! Syncing with outlook is great, definitely. It's nice to have all my emails on my phone, just in case I need them. What's even better is when you own two Windows Mobile devices, and you just create all your contacts on one, sync with the pc, and put all the contacts on the other one without all the bother! :D Bluetooth is good too, yeah, although I've not tried it with a headset, which people always ask me about. It's nice to be able to watch tv downstairs and collect my emails or use msn. :D

ZombieFly: I dont beleive it's drained by the expansion card in all honesty. Perhaps that could be that you've opened a file on the storage card, and dont kill the process? I know it's been well documented on MoDaCo, but then it doesn't really bother me to be honest. All you have to do is charge at the end of the day.

Haven't tried PocketClive, but the Sega emulator is amazing! Before now, I had never bothered with emulators, but it's worth it now! :D

NeYo: Well, you will buy a P900, wont you? ;) Heh nah, I guess you just got unlucky. S'all good though. At least you can get it fixed free eh! May even get a replacement handset! Sucks for using the 7210 though! Oh the pain!

Waka: When I was looking at phones, I never rated the P900 personally, and although that has changed somewhat, I still wouldn't take one over my E200. I prefer the form of the E200, and more importantly, the size! I find the E200 too big, so would never be able to cope with a P900. Wouldn't even fit in my pocket! Sony mem stick DEFINITELY sucks, and it's unfortunate really. I wouldn't be able to handle only 128mb in my phone. Not even enough for my programs! (Especially as I share my SD with my XDA and my E200) I'm using a 512mb SD card at the moment, and you can pick them up DIRT cheap on eBay. I bought mine 2-3 months ago for a lot more unfortunately, but you cant go wrong with around 75 quid for 512mb! Not sure how much the GB ones are, but the phone can handle those too. That's the thing I like about the E200 and the SmartPhone OS. Everything just.. works. I was offered a trade for a 6600, but turned it down. For a handset that costs MORE than the E200, it pales in comparison, and is flawed in more than one way.

Cool, I'm gonna go live in there for a few hours :D

So what is the extent of the emulators?

Snes?

Nes?

SMS?

MD?

ScummVM? (I'm sure I've seen that on those forums, does that mean MI :| )

GBA?

MAME?

I'm sure I caught a glimpse of those emu's on there, whats the state of play on them?

Like I said before Daz, you're more than welcome to check my E200 out if you'd like. I've not really got into the emu business, but that's only because I'm not really a game player. You can get a fair few emus, but you'd be better off asking on MoDaCo. There's quite a few games/apps for SmartPhones too, although only a few are worth getting to be honest. I have pretty much every game and app released for SmartPhone (and PDA infact!), so you're welcome to have a look at those aswell, if you'd like. 2 smartphones you look into, coming out soon are the Motorola MPx100 and the Sagem MYS-7 (dont be fooled by the name, it'll be a good phone). Another phone also rumoured to be coming out, but not confirmed yet is the MPx220, which is the same as the MPx100 in a different form (flip).

Yea man, i know i know... I took into CarphoneWarehouse, he said he'd get it sent off 2 SonyE... I asked how long it'd be. He said typically UPTO 2weeks... But he said, as you have the BEST fone on the market (haha j/k) ... He said, as you have a F**king uber fone... ok he didn't say that either...

Nah, he said, as you've a P900, don't hold your breath!! :(

So looks like I'm stuck with the damn Nokia 7210 for awhile. I am getting used to not knowing its in my pocket tho, its so light and small (by contrast!)

What makes it worse, Dad's got TWO Series60 fones now, and i've got a CRUDDY series 40

Never been a fan of the S60 platform to be honest, but that's just me. I had S60 on the N-Gage (Was purely money-making and had it for a week), and it was quite limited. I've never personally used a P900, but from the screens I've seen, I think I would prefer it UIQ to S60, although saying that, navigation on SmartPhone OS isn't the best either.

I tell ya what mate, the worst thing about those S40 phones (the older ones like 7210, 7250, 6100 etc) is the screens. You can barely see them in the daylight!

Yea, i completely agree. I am not a fan of either S40 or S60 really... But it sucks MY DAD has two better fones than me @ the moment!!

UIQ IMO is much nicer to navigate than Series60. But its completely different... Touch Screen vs keypad input... So I dunno, I guess you can't really compare. I like UIQ alot, just wish it'd implement 'exit' on applications, rather than me having to use 3rd party software. Oh well, shut up about UIQ... I'll get withdrawals :p

    • Apple reluctantly forces strict new age checks on Texas users starting today by Paul Hill Apple will begin enforcing the Texas Age Assurance Law (SB 2420) following a recent court ruling that lifted an injunction on SB 2420. Starting June 4 (today), Apple will enforce strict age-verification and parental-consent rules for new Apple accounts created in Texas. This move will affect children under 18 who go to download apps or attempt to make in-app purchases. Apple previously expressed privacy concerns related to this law, but compliance is now mandatory for the company, nevertheless. Apple will use several APIs to follow the law. Principally, the Declared Age Range API will fetch the specific user age bracket (Under 13, 13-15, 16-17, or 18+) and a verification method. The Significant Change API (PermissionKit) will trigger a system dialog for parental consent if an app gets a major update or an age-rating shift. There is also a new property type in StoreKit that allows developers to automatically check when their app’s age rating has changed on a user’s device and then use the Significant Change API to request parental consent. Finally, App Store Server Notifications can be configured to tell developers when a parent revokes consent, blocking app launches. To ensure they are ready for these changes, developers must immediately use Apple’s sandbox testing environment to validate these APIs in their apps. For any developers out there finding this to be inconvenient, get used to it. Other regions, such as Utah, Louisiana, and Brazil, are looking at, or have implemented, similar rules.
