I have a question, if I want to try a different build of pearpc do I have to reinstall osx?

One more I use a router to connect to the net, is it any different getting osx to see the router?

I have this working with a router. IP Addresses:

BEFW11S4 Router:

IP: 192.168.1.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

DNS: From ISP

WUSB11 USB Wirless Adapter:

IP: 192.168.1.7

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: From ISP

ICS Enabled

TAP Win32 Driver:

IP: 192.168.0.1

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.7 (If putting the adapter address doesn't work try leaving this blank)

DNS: From ISP

OS X:

IP: 192.168.0.20

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.1

DNS: From ISP

Two problems: 1) PearPC must be run as an admin 2) One time I would lose all internet connectivity when OS X connected. I had to turn off then turn back on ICS on the Wireless adapter.

PearPC .3pre running 10.3.4 on Windows XP Pro

no, you dont have to reinstall osx, just replace the ppc.exe file with the new one you download.

if you use a router you will not be able to use the ICS method as you will have a conflicting IP address with your router and thus screwing your net connection.

Dude, i have a router and thus far have had zero problems.

Maybe you should try changing your router's LAN address to something other than 192.168.0.x :D

I have my subnet set to 192.168.21.x for example. No problems whatsoever.

well i really cant do much on the internet now in pearpc. For some reason when i try to go to network conncections in xp it says there is no file/association for network connections. I need to get in there to tweak my bridge settings. Anyone got a clue on how to fix that

My friend is having trouble with his router, could you explain how to change the Router's IP?

I'd like to know that to, whenever I change my router's IP address I loose my internet connection and I can't access the router's HTML configuration screen.

Well, without knowing what router it is, I would say open a web browser and type in the router's ip. Login, and find the screen that allows you to change the router's IP.

y would you need a subnet at home :s ??

you dont need a subnet for tcp/ip like the 1 u have for home unless you have heeps of computers and dont what them to always talk to eachother?? 255.255.255.0 is fine y would you need something other than that for home use unless you where trying to learn certain things about subnets

^^^

Somebody needs a refresher course in TCP/IP Networking.

A subnet is a group of computers with similar IP addresses. All the computers on my local network, for example, are on the subnet 192.168.21.xxx . This means that I have to assign them an IP address in the range of 192.168.21.1 ~ 192.168.21.254. You cannot use 0 and 255; those are reserved for routing traffic.

A subnet mask is a mathematical expression of how many IPs you plan to give out in a particular subnet. The typical mask is 255.255.255.0. Sometimes you can set them to 255.255.255.128, or .64, or .32, etc... The full explanation is very technical and way beyond the scope of this thread.

Click here for a nitfy subnet calculator that might explain it a little better.

And Webopedia.com has a nice entry for "Subnet Mask."

As for those of you who want to change your router's LAN address, the procedure will be different for each manufacturer.

The procedure is basically this: You need to access the router's configuration page by opening your browser and pointing your browser to http://192.168.x.1, where x will be your IP address "class C." Look at your own IP address to get this number. Most routers ask for a username and password at this point. If you have no idea what to do here, try admin in either the username or password fields. Or try it in both. If that doesn't work, consult your router's manual. Next, you'll be looking for the LAN configuration. You'll want to change the LAN (not WAN) address to 192.168.Z.0, where Z some number OTHER than 0, 1, or your current LAN address.

I had PearPC working just fine, then I wanted to update my build and connect to the internet. First off, I need a tutorial for the internet connection, I went back as far as page 170 then got tired of looking. Secondly, I replaced my exe for the 0.2 build with the 0.3 SDL and added the SDL.dll to my folder, but now when I click on the ppc.exe or the ppc.bat, i just get a quick flash of a cmd prompt box then it dissapears and nothing happens. I tried my old exe and still nothing, I just cleaned up my ppcfg_HD.txt as well, so that could also be my problem, and suggestions??

This is my config file

On a more 'PearPC' related front, here's a development update.

For the last few days, CVS was being reorganized (and thus no one could make any new additions). That is complete; SDL is now in CVS, however the mouse is screwed up. There has been talk of adding the 'suspend' feature, dual emulated processors (for smp machines), and writing an AGP driver for OS X on the PearPC mailing list over the last few days ;-).

Hopefully soon we'll start getting compiling + functional builds out of CVS again :-).

    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
