Windows XP SP2 Build 2162 on Windows Update v5

Recommended Posts

Well, there you go. Had 2149 on put 2162 on, now back to 2149 :o

2162 was giving me errors everytime I right clicked on anything

Hope that one gets fixed when the final comes out.

I'm having the same problems with 2162. Anyone else having these problems?

Nah no problems for me. No mouse problems or right click problems.

Only thing that I probably could try complain about is just the LAN card icon taking a few secs to show on the taskbar. But meh.. All is working fine thus far. One thing that I do is Intergrate though. & to any one who's thinking or going to come and say "Why would you want to do that with a BETA SP" I'll put it simple. Its my way of doing things. Looking forward to the RTM.

ok guys i am haveing some problems with WU5, everytime i go to the site to get updates it gives me a dialog box saying internet explorere has encountered something and must close, one time it worked and i was able to get 2149 but now it is doing it again and i cant get 2162, any suggestions, is there anyway to reinstall v5

Just merged the reg key, going to give it a try now - all looks well on the update page! :)

Edit - No luck, keeps erroring after i agree to the EULA any ideas? Error Code: 8007F0CC

Well WU5 is for beta testers only and is part of the SP2 beta also. Since the SP download is not on WU4 then it could be considered illegal to download unless you're an official beta tester for either of the 2. Just my 2 cents worth. I've already downloaded it. :D

windows update 5 isn't beta testers only. the general public can use it...

I wander know if the Beta SP2 only designed for XP English edition ? I used a Simplized Chinese edition but it can not find any update item on Windows Update v5, I use SP1 now. Thanks. :(

probably won't see a chinese version until it goes final in early august. ;)

I can?t install sp2 2162 over sp2 2149. The instalation hangs on the file, NTkrnelpa.exe, and my puter hangs too, so i only can reboot with the power button.

I also have the icon on the task bar to install this beta version.

Anybody has the same problem?

Thanks

    • I moved back to Firefox. While uBlock Origin can still be made to work with tricks in Vivaldi 8.1, the writing is on the wall and it is for Brave too. It's an impossible battle to stake your own future when you rely on a third party engine, especially when that third party is largerly an advertisement company. I don't agree with everything Mozilla does either, but at least they aren't the same kind of company and interests as Google.
    • Sadly, yes. Unless MS brings back some kind of satiety to their QA departments, we will keep seeing generally released patches in a beta state with larger enterprise customers being forced to delay just to avoid issues...which is arguably worse for security than if they patches just came out a little later.
