found out this and put it in the other thread

w00t got msn music icon working

closed wmp10

cleared my cache came here saw the thread with the butterfly urls. (in firefox)

loaded up the icon url in ie (then saw the long strip of butterflys in ie)

loaded up wmp10 icon works no red x

a very good point has been made several times in this thread and has been virtually ignored throughout... is it possible to slipstream wmp10 into the windows installation? so you could just clean install with wmp10 included... ??

well it's obviously possible, but how? :)

and what icon url is that?

I have updated the Windows Server 2003 fix. Now the playlist are properly installed.

I have included a batch file to make things easier and less likely to fail. Just extract the wmp10 exe file and the wins2k3.zip file into a folder and run setup.bat. More detailed instructoins are in the zip file. If you have tried using the first fix and it failed, leaving you with Wmp9 running this should fix it :)

WinS2k3Fix.zip

To install it via svcpack.inf you should do it this way:

extract the wmp10.exe file to any folder.

archive all the files that were extracted in the folder using winrar (Compression Method = Best, Create SFX Archive, Create Solid Archive)

in the comments tab put this in:

;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Setup=setup_wm.exe /DisallowSystemRestore /Q:A /R:N
TempMode
Silent=2
Overwrite=1

thats it. now just put the file in your 1386/update folder (and update your svcpack.inf by justadding wmp10.exe)

and what icon url is that?

http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnlogo.png

http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnsmall.png

Those are the url's to the images that are supposed to be where the red x is.

The settings are in the registry in the following two places.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MSNMusic

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\services\MSNMusic

Anybody have an answer yet about what MP3 codec Microsoft is using in their WMP 10 final?? What company/brand?? If you do, please post.? I'm still trying to figure it out.

Thanks,

BK

Wmp10 uses the Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional) and supports all bitrates, mono and stereo. Pretty sweet move :) :) To bad I've already switched to wma lol.

If you extract the wmp10 installer and have a look in l3codecp.acm (notepad will do fine) you will see the above info towards the top of the file.

So this is the same Fast Fraunhofer codec that Music Match has used for a long time, right? Guess that makes perfect sense to me, given the previously close relationship between Music Match and Microsoft.

I am a fan of that Fast Fraunhofer at 160 bit. (Y)

I can't say for sure. I never did like MM and I haven't used it in years. I do know that the Fraunhofer Pro Codec cost some money so I doubt the free version of MM would support it. The pay version of MM very well may support it (guessing). I tried searching www.musicmatch.com but their site is about worthless :(

EDIT: I did a little more searching and found this

MusicMatch Jukebox - http://www.musicmatch.com/ - they have been publishing a free version for a long time. They had some buggy versions around v5.x and v6.0, but versions later than 6.1 use a non-buggy version of the Fastenc CODEC.

http://www.mp3-faq.org/tips/encoders.html

So it looks like Wmp10 uses a different (better) codec.

I m confused, if I do it upon installaing Windows XP SP2 slipstreamed it will automatically install WMP10, after disabling System restore, rite ?

I have made a slipstreamed ISO of Windows XP with SP2, via autostreamer, it is not an unattended installation, how can I add this string & mp10.exe to it,

One more thing, suppose I m reinstallaing WIndows, then when during the setup, insted of installaing WMP9 included in SP2 it will install MP10, or will it install WMP9 & then start this string to install wmp10 over it, if this is so then I would go for manual install after Windows installation

I found the i386\update folder, but where is svcpack.inf, also can I install mp10 with windows with an attended installation

Cool. Thanks for the info. Looks like the Fast Fraunhofer is pretty much the same, with minor tweaks in both apps, so I think I know about what to expect.

Appreciate the links. (Y)

Not a problem, glad I could help :)

OK I'm bored so on with my Wmp10 conspiracy theory :woot:

It sure is nice of MS to include this codec for free. Seeing how they have to pay for it. But why would they do something like that.

When was the last time MS give something away for free that they didn't create?

Hmm... Lets see, Wmp10 has become a free, high quality cd ripping/burning multimedia app. No need to buy Winamp (or similar app) for audio burning features anymore. Unless you just want to. I believe MS didn't include Wmp10 in XpSp2 for a reason (the EU ruling for starters). Microsoft can't make you install Wmp10 (via installing sp2) without the possibility of getting into more trouble down the road. How would it look if MS forced a new media player that just happened to advertise their new music store. That wouldn't look too good on their part. They can however give you Wmp10 for free (after you download it yourself). Nothing wrong with that right? Free is good, lots of people love free stuff. The thing is that anyone that checks out Wmp10 is going to read about their new music store. Yet, at the same time anyone that trys the new music store is going to read about Wmp10. The end result is that MS now has two products advertising each other quite well. All without Microsoft forcing anyone to do anything.

I may be wrong but it makes sense to me. Anyone think I'm on to something, or just on something LOL. OK I think its time for me to go to bed before I hurt myself

How's how I fixed that stupid ass Red X bug or whatever is.

1) Shut down WMP and Closed IE.

2) Cleared the cache & offline files via the Internet Options Control Panel

3) Opened up IE

4) Copied this http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnlogo.png into the Address bar

5) Copied this http://beta.music.msn.com/client/msnsmall.png into the Address bar

6) Closed IE

7) Opened up WMP

8) Works for me now

9) I hope when I clear my cache it doesn't get messed up again but I haven't touched it since

Seems to work for me... but I have my system to clear cache when I close my browser so I have to do this everytime I want to open WMP10

    • Kdenlive 26.04.2 by Razvan Serea Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on GNU/Linux, Windows and BSD. Through the MLT framework, Kdenlive integrates many plugin effects for video and sound processing or creation. Furthermore Kdenlive brings a powerful titling tool, a DVD authoring (menus) solution, and can then be used as a complete studio for video creation. Kdenlive supports all of the formats supported by FFmpeg or libav (such as QuickTime, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and Flash Video, among others), and also supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for both PAL, NTSC and various HD standards, including HDV and AVCHD. Video can also be exported to DV devices, or written to a DVD with chapters and a simple menu. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
    • People in the '50s and '60s had the same attitude, and we're still here over a half century later.
    • So after some fiddling I was able to get it to run at a pretty stable 30FPS. I'm slightly surprised about how much fiddling I had to do to get there though given what I thought was reasonable hardware: Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics Graphics Processor 2: AMD Radeon RX 7700S I think I could do it better if I use Linux rather than Windows, Windows RAM usage is stupid without stripping the system down. But once I got it working in a reasonable state, it was so awesome! I felt like a new Bond! If anyone has any advice to get things going a bit smoother FPS-wise, I'd appreciate it.
