Is it not possible to squeeze a delete file operation between the extraction and slipstream process? If not, oh well, just have to do it manually. At least I know about the issue, other people may continue to have these update.exe questions so a warning prompt would be helpful, something to prevent them from continuing with the AS and having the Autostreamer.exe process hang in memory.

not directly... i would need to manually extract the .exe somewhere (gets VERY messy since i dunno how to extract it directly quitely) and then run the extracted UPDATE.EXE. When using the big file directly, it automatically extracts itself and starts, so there's no chance of squeezing a file deletion there...

Thanks for the option to pause before making the ISO.

Only it doesn't seem to work (the way I expect it to work).

Here's the situation:

I'm using a Win XP SP2 CD (NL).

Creating the $AutoStreamer$ dir on the root of C:\.

After Auto Streamer pauses, I ad some folders to the I386 dir.

[This is my reason for using AutoStreamer]

Then I click, Make ISO, but I get the message: creating a TEMP folder again.

(I guess that means rewriting the $AutoStreamer$ temp folder on my C:\,

because the ISO doesn't contain the manualy added folder in the I386 dir.)

Let me check on that... You might have found a bug...

nope but what you can do is go to msfn and look at their unattended install section and create and autoinstall for wmp10

Thanks for the quick reply!

found it!! , but I can't post the link  The board says I'm spamming

To bad AutoStreamer can't do that.

Hello,

I'm having some trouble. I tried the Zip file and the installation file. I can't complete the first step. Once I insert my Win XP (Dell reinstallation) CD into the CD-Rom Drive and click on the hourglass I get D: in first box but I don't get the Green Checkmark on the left hand side. I assume that I need that checkmark to continue to the SP2 block. I get a file size of 518 MB but OS unknown and Build unknown. I ran program from the C:\Program Files\Auto Streamer folder. Does it take a lot of time before the first step completes or is it an instant feature? What am I doing wrong? TIA.

My real simple question is: Once I've used this excellent prog to produce an .iso file, which consists of the slipstreamed version of winxp sp2, and everything seems to have gone well: How then can I use that .iso file to do things such as install the windows recovery console to my hd? I mean, I've used winxp cd's twice before to install the wcr, and it's a simple process. BUT when I produced a autostreamed copy of winxp sp2 & then tried to use it to copy /cmdcons, I couldn't get into the cd at all. You can't even explore it.

I apologize for my gross ignorance here, and if you've got to toss smartass comments, feel free....as long as someone would kindly toss the valid answer to my question as well [:-))

Thanks for your time & attention to detail.

O.K., O.K. I got the .iso image burned to cd and it looks (when you hit Explore) perfect, but when I try to use that cd and a command-prompt window to try & install windows recovery console, I get a flash of the cmd window & it's gone.....Now I know this isn't the right forum for this question; which area do I need to take this thread?

Thanks in advance.

Dell XP is no good for slipstreaming.

You are gonna hafta borrow a XP-CD from a friend as long as it is the same (Home or Pro0 your key will work.

Why not? Would you explain? Perhaps there is something one could do to make it work? Change a file? Delete a file? There are a lot of Dell CDs out there and I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to slipstream SP2 using a Dell CD. I'm fairly new to computers and could use some help. Thanks.

Hi!

I have just d/l'd Autostreamer and as a new user to slipstreaming, I need some help please.

I am using a HP computer that came with Windows XP Home already installed, in other words, an OEM version, and as such, there is no Windows CO that the Autostreamer calls for. It has a recovery partition on the D: drive that has all of the system install files there. Can I use Autostreamer with this type of Windows install and how? I also have been sent recovery CD's from HP but it has all of the factory install programs on it and has XP home SP1 version on it.. Could I use this CD to slipstream?

Thanks!

Driver :)
