They finially got a cache to download for my area, but it's too undetailed to be of any use. Hopefully when the servers are up there'll be more detail. I DEFINITELY couldn't tell the difference between a car and a truck from the cache I have.... Can barely see a car.

I cant access that page, but, if the nasa guy's are impressed, he's got to be smart.

Here... I'll quote what he has posted on that page.

Currently serving "JPL Global Landsat Mosaic (Visible Bands - Panshapened)" from all packs in http://learn.arc.nasa.gov/worldwind/cache.html

Map of avaliable areas: http://212.33.80.179/~hlds/worldwind/data/map.jpg

To use it download http://nowak.xpam.de/WorldLayers.xml and put in "Configuration" dir.

What this does, it allows you to connect to his server, which holds many of the cache files. It also adds new functionality to the program, adding a few different views...

To allow Worldwind to see the new server, you have to empty your cache by going to the WorldWind program folder, then go to:

Cache\Earth\High-Resolution Terrain Mapped Imagery\JPL Global Landsat Mosaic (Visible Bands - Panshaped)

and delete all the folders from 0-10 in that folder.

Then, right click on http://nowak.xpam.de/WorldLayers.xml, select save as, and save it. Then, go back to your WorldWind program folder, go into the Configuration folder, and then copy and paste the WorldLayers.xml file you just download, overwriting the last one...

Now you can open WorldWind, and you should see a new button, and his server will update for you.

Please note that if you are trying to zoom in too quickly, and you are hammering his server with requests, it will tell you it can't connect. So take it slow at first.

BTW: Nasa had the server up for a day or 2 this week. But they only had a 100mbs connection, and it crashed rather quickly. They are in the works for getting a 1Gbs server... :omg:

Don't forget this proggie is still under development! ... and free of course! ... these are only temporary work-arounds till the NASA servers are back online.

There's going to be plenty of improvements the next release so stay tuned!

Just so everyone knows, the NASA servers are now up, and the program is completely functional. If you use the current version, or update to 1.2d, you can even view Mars data now... WOOT!

NP.

Also, I just found out that the update gives access to the GLOBE Program Visualization Server, in the WMS Dialog box. This allows you to see current radar, rainfall images, everything, on your area.

Hi i got world wind. I see alot about cache files. Is it possible to get all of them in one package or somthing to that effekt because i have atleast 200 gigs to spare and a 10 mb connection. Also is that enough space for all of them. And are there any possible patches or packages that may be needed. The current version i have is http://opensource.arc.nasa.gov/archives/worldwind-1_2.zip. Any help would be helpful.
