firefox isn't slow after who change the streamlining mods to it which can be found in the guides section of this site

I've tweaked FF to the max, and it's still slow. So no, it doesn't get faster. And why on Earth is it not tweaked to be the fastest to begin with? O.o

I can't justify paying for a browser, firefox is by far my browser of choice.

hehe you're paying.

you just don't know it. it's funny to see how naive people are sometimes.

open source isn't heaven. it's still business. you can compare it to communism

[edit]

and like said before.

what's wrong about paying a small amount of money to support something you use a lot?!

most people in here have broadband (wild guess)

and at least 25% of their time behind a computer is spent surfing the internet.

then why is it ok to pay €50 for a game that will only last for some months, and not for paying around €30 (and around €15 for students) to happily browse the internet the next few years.

don't take everything for granted.

it isn't wrong to support them. it's not like they're trying to get rich(far from that)

So when people donated to FF to put an ad in the NYT, that wasn't "paying"? That was still money, it's not like it wasn't. So whatever did they do with the extra money? People may think it was just a "donation", but in the end, they're still paying. So hush. You may not have "paid", but other people did.

but .. Fx folks (and yes it is Fx .. not FF) don't force the user to pay/donate by putting an obtrusive ad banner on the browser window.

Do you see the difference ??

Firefox - because with the number of extensions out there it is incredibly customisable with as many or as few features as you want.

For example the gmail notifier and the sage rss reader from www.extensionsmirror.nl

Gmail notifier has nothing to do with Firefox.

!

Firefox suffers it's first critical security flaw

"In recent months Firefox has gained significant market share from Microsoft's Internet Explorer, partly because it is considered less vulnerable to attacks. However, industry observers have long warned that the browser is more secure partly because of its relatively small user base. As Firefox's profile grows, attackers will increasingly target the browser."

SOURCE: TechWorld Article

Apparently these recently discovered flaws have now been addressed, but does anyone happen to know whether the long-awaited upgrade to this browser, (when it eventuates) will make it more secure?

For example I get unwanted pop-ups with this bowser that I don't seem to get with Opera.

I don't know whether that is my fault due to inadequate confugration or an inherent weakness in FireFox.
