Alpha2004
I have a 5 yrl dell and it sucks. My parents keep promising me a new pc...but keep delaying. I need to do something via software or hardware that will kill the pc, without it looking like i intentionally did it... any suggestions? overclock it to crazy levels? any way to kill hard drive? morficus
why not fry your hdd?? stick it in the microwave (in a covered container) for about 5 min or disable your anti-virus and firewalls, then go your mary way around the web - you wil surely get a virus. another option is to screw up your registry or delete some files in the C:\windows\ dir just get a little creative - think of all those thing ppl say not to do... and to them
acoustikrage
i suppose if your parents don't know anything about computers you could just switch the jumpers on the harddrive so that it doesn't boot up.
morficus
no.... he said KILL if he does that, they could just send it to a tech guy, and he'll solve that. kill the hdd or corupt the registry - no way of fixing that (that I know of)
Alpha2004
i need to fry it beyond the repairmans abilities to fix the broken part lol. short circuit the mobo....crash the hd...something! morficus, reg corruption can be fixed with a format, i believe, no? ok...how do i kill my hd? ssvegeta384
Take everything out, light it on fire, put it back in. It'll seem like everything overheated. Definately do something hardware-related. Software goofs can be fixed by a simple reformat.
morficus
do what I said - hdd+microwave = sure death - change the values in the registry (windows wont even load after that) - delete files in the C:\windows dir and say it was a virus - tunr off the fans on the case - then leave your PC on for a few days - heat will kill it. (or do both :p )
ssvegeta384
Try to stay away from anything HDD-related, as they can just make you replace the HDD. Go for the BIOS-flashing one. If that's ******, the whole thing is gone.
morficus
oh, all so do the RAM and vid card that way you can say it "over heated"
amr_01
you could always unplug the heatsink fan, and overheat the processor. won't take long. then you can plug the fan back in, and no one will know.
SuperSnake
I have the best way....flash ur BIOS chip with a random file from ur hd, that'll fry ur mobo and you'll definitely get another comp
psybapunk
disable the HSF and let the cpu run for awhile... as long as it doesn't shut off by itself.
Alpha2004
the fan is a good idea im leaning more towards hardware death
mentalindustries
roll around on the carpet and rub the carpet with ur hands then touch the motherboard should zap all but everything p.s i take no responsibiltiy in your parents saying we can;t afford a puter at the mo and you being stuck with no pc
xpablo
change the bios settings , take a strong magnet to the hard drive. shuffle your feet on the carpet when the cover is open and computer is on and touch the motherboard if your lucky static will get to the M/B. Better yet take lessons from an AOL'r http://members.aol.com/spoons1000/break/ Edit : Here's another: http://www.dansdata.com/sbs3.htm

SkyyPunk Veteran Posted November 10, 2004 Veteran Share Posted November 10, 2004 how do i check if my mobo has auto shut down on fan disable? 584895849[/snapback] i think thats a CPU feature too...not just mobo
chuayw2000
Delete any important files from c:\windows and then destroyyour recovery discs and tell them: I got a virus that wiped out eveything and now I cant recover. Or you could wet a cd and then put it in your PC for reading, you will be sure to spoil it soon...
morficus
yeah, turning off the fan could be the best idea. that way it looks like it over heated - and that is a natural cause of death
SkyyPunk Veteran Posted November 10, 2004 Veteran Share Posted November 10, 2004 oh oh good idea...if the neighbor has a cat...put it in the tower...let it run for a few days...the cat will surely poo in that time, short circuiting the mobo naturally... OR get a lot of tinsel...that stuff has GOT to be conductive!! throw it in and say you tried decorating it for christmas and you dont know what went wrong... OR Throw in a lot of steel wool in there, and say you thought it was tinsel, then finish off with the above idea!
