[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Recommended Posts

I was one of the unfortunate people who bought a Radeon 9600XT in the fall 0f 2003 hoping that i would get HL2 as part of the package. Unfortunately ATI has decided that only people with cable internet are worthy of Half Life 2 (at least any time soon).

After seeing for a while that HL2 was in the "Coming Soon" section of steam, i was wondering about how i was going to get a copy of the HL2 steam files. (On my 56k connection it would take several days of straight downloading to get it, which i can't do. 150 hour limit per month). When i had first purchased my video card i had checked out ati site and it gave options for them to ship the game after its release. $15 for one week priority mail sounded ok so i bought into it.

Now ati site https://www.atihl2offer.com/ states that it is actually 8-10 weeks (OVER TWO MONTHS)before you will see the game and the priority male basically makes it 8 weeks instead of ten.

What i am looking for is for someone to mail me a dvd or collection of cd's with the steam .gcf files necessary to run Half Life 2.

I already own Half Life 2. It came with my video card. I am not interested in Pirating the Game. I have a valid steam account to authenticate the game. Please do not shut down this thread. What i would like is for someone to be nice and ship me a copy of their backup dvd or cds of HL2 files for a moderate shipping/handling/media fee of around $10-$15 via PayPal..

No this is not a chance to make a lot of extra cash, but it is a chance to be a good person and help a fellow gamer out. (I really dont want to pay another $60 for a game i technically own.)

So anybody who would like to help me out, i would be eternally greatfull.

Your can reach me via neowin pm

Thanks for your time and reading my rather longwinded post.

Edit: corrected spelling erros and other oversights. And if a mod could correct the spelling of Plea in the title i would appreciate it.

i think my internet is crapping out, only getting average of 1.6K second on DSL, i swear it better not go down / have to DL more HL2 content for activation cause i got my copy via steam and finished the preload

@12Iceman

Ain't any of your friends buying that game? Just borrow from them for awhile. Install it and activate using your cd key. That's perfectly legal. Else you could try getting to a cyber cafe and download it there. Even my cheapo cyber cafe have burning services and broadband.

I'm just suggesting alternatives. Cause if you ask anyone to send it to you, it probably take a day or so. (hopefully it doesn't get lost in the mail that is)

anyone know what time mcdonalds opens? need some breakfast before 8 :(

Mine is open 24/7 because Full Sail is like, right next to it. A bunch of college students with either the munchies, or theyre waiting for HL2 to come out. Good for nights like this..

Yes its starting to coem back , up to 107K so far acording to my current download, will speed test it when its done ( 15min , its the High Rez HL2 gameplay trailer, 615mb total)

mines 6.12 but i got everything installed from the silver package (cept didnt install CS:CZ deleted scenes)

my steam folder is 5.29 GB does that seem right?

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
