u can choose where u want to install steam, dont blame steam for your petty mistakes

I know that, and I did install Steam where I wanted. What it DIDN'T do was tell me at any point that any games I installed later can ONLY be installed in the Steam folders, which is bloody stupid... Not everyone is blessed with massive drives... I have 3, a 20, a 40 & an 80... all of which don't have a lot of space on them... I had to uninstall Doom 3 just for HL2, and that was NOT on the same drive as Steam...

The industry will be moving away from folder/directory structure more and more in the future, especially as drive sizes increase. It will be the situation where its not really important where stuff is stored, but rather that it is 'just there.'

edit:

Oh, i forgot to mention, as the longhorn timeframe comes into play, we'll begin to see the major begining of a more abstract directory structure.

I'm aware of this, and as a professional developer, I can tell you it's NOT something I or any of my collegues is looking forward to... It's just pandering to the n00b who can't find his ass with his hands let alone work out a sensible storage structure for his files...

And again, not everyone in the world is blessed with massive HD's with oodles of free space... Also, sooner or later a drive will fill up and another will be required, but can you install newer games on this new drive with Steam? Like crap can you!!

please post some screenshots and include your specs and the framerate you are getting, thx!

Problem: Cannot connect to Steam Servers.

When I try to connect to a server on Steam and try to join it the server info screen comes up and the ping jumps from ~50 to 2000 and will not referesh. I cannot connect to the server either. I tried disabling my firewall (NIS 2005) while I playing and that didn't help. It might be my router (Linksys BEFSX41 Latest Firmware). Anyone know a work around or if there are ports that need to be openned.

wow, the unlocking process stinks!

Yeah, it went really slowly at 8:00AM GMT this morning for the official release. If you look on http://www.steampowered.com you can see the large amount of increase of bandwidth given out via Valve (Steam) :o

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
