[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Considering the Steam forums are screwed up (yeah, what else is new?) I figured I'd ask this here. Has anyone tried to order HL2 via steam and get some bull**** like "Declined due to Credit Card fraud blah blah blah" ?!

I get crap like that, and I know the card is valid (I had it verified by the bank) but Valve is run by idiots, so I am not suprised by this problem.

I know I am not the only one having this problem becuase I saw it on the Steam forums before they totally bit the dust.

I know it's early, but I'm already stuck in half life 2. I'm in the Route Kanal, in the place where it looks like you need to go through a tunnel with red lights. The problem is I cant figure out how to reach the tunnel (it is too high).

I've attached a screenshot as well.

I've already given up and decided not to get the game at all. This is ****ing rediculous. I've been waiting two years for the damn game, it finally comes out and like usual, Valve doesn't get it right. I went to Wal-Mart to get it after school, but they didn't have it. I am so ****ing glad they didn't, becuase I didn't know about all these problems (becuase I was at school) so I would have had a royal fit if I came home and couldn't play it after I paid for it.

It's quite funny what Valve has done. They did this activation bull**** with Steam so the game wouldn't be pirated as easily, but what do you know, it's been cracked and released already(along with CS:S, but that's been out for a while now). This kind of bull**** does nothing but ruin the game for the paying costumers.

It does have offline mode, make sure your password is stored, and to use for best effect, disconnect internet completly. Then its loads pretty damn fast.

if you have broadband, i found it tries to connect, even if there is no internet, cause im on a network.

yup you can do that but being as it was 4am when i went to bed i just restarted not thinking that the system would take a total crap by afternoon.

I can hardly see why you should blame Steam for that. Of COURSE the system will be bogged down!
