[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

hmm, already asked this, but it got lost in all the love for hl2 :p

so, i'll try again:

can anyone tell me whether or not i'm entitled to Valve's back catalogue when i buy collectors edition? or do you only get that when you buy over steam? or do you reckon i should just buy the silver pack off steam?

I have one question. Why is it that the HEV suit can run an entire computerized system that monitors your entire body, yet the flashlight wastes its power in about 10 seconds? :p

That's just it, all the power is used on the other more vital functions. :ninja:

back catalog is Steam Silver or Gold only, not collectors edition

id recomend steam, as you can back it all up to DVD if you want, dont need CD-Rom in tray, and is easier.

Half life 2 tip:

When you are faced with zombies coming your way. use the gravity gun to flatten a woodboard on the door, take something sharp like blades and hit the sides of the wood on the door. zombies cant go over it or under it.

Would it violate the no 'post this' threads rule to make a 'Post the G-Man' thread? ;)

I know I saw something about g-man sightings in another topic, but with the amount of separate half-life 2 topics popping up all the time I don't see why not as long as there isnt one already I missed.

Anyway, I've seen him:

In Dr. Kleiner's lab on that security camera thing Barney was using.

On a TV near where you meet the first resistance forces with the Vortigaunt that charges your suit.

Several places watching from above the docks in the Water Hazard chapter.

well, i just installed the game and i already got the new updates from steam.... the stuttering was not bad until the 4th loading screen hit, then it was just unplayable and i just quit

there are quite a few fixes posted... was that Valve update their full solution to the problem? cuz if so i guess i'll have to try other stuff... if not i'll wait until they give a proper fix, i don't mind

jsut bought this game right now and playedit already, it start to stutter during a major slowdown, implaying and 1280x1024. all default seetings on my card

when its running normali get 30-45-fps

sweet game though :D we need a patch

Just finished it tonight, wow the game ending leaves a lot to be desired but man talk about THE best game of the year if not better. I really liked the blue grav gun ...w00t I had soo much fun tossing combine soldiers around and using them as meat shields.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
