[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Recommended Posts

i took my time beating it, in fact i beat it about 6 minutes ago to be exact. its been loads of fun and i cannot wait till i can get some of my buddies who know how to program well and develop mini-mods for it. :) i r 1337 mapper guy. in all seriousness its not only the game that makes half-life 2 so great its the engine.

i saw him walking inbetween trains, before the start of the highway 17 level (in the train station, outside). if you squat to look what's behind some trains in an area where you can't get to, he just pops out and walks, then he's gone. I used fraps & the noclip cheat to capture the movie, but i'm at work right now.

Come here to Europe... no CD versions (to my knowledge)

yeah all the 1's in the shops in the UK are DVD 's :D!

That's so true. I wish a DVD version of Doom 3 was available. Oh well, I bought it today because HL2 changed my opinion on single-player games - and my GPU is lagging while playing Doom 3 <-- I'll have to wait for my next upgrade in order to play it...but that's life.

Guys - I read this thread hoping that at the end of the game I would get the actual phsycannon from the E3/Leaked version that is shown in the screenshots posted by sp0rk. And you guys are WRONG.

The gun you get is just your normal antigravity gun, but charged up to hell with electricity and stuff. It's nothing like the phsycannon I had so much fun with in the leaked version. It's gotta be hidden in there somewhere though. Must be in a dev mode or something, since it was basically just there to show off the physics at E3....

u my friend are a retard!

they know! so acctually u r wrong.

just to clear things up 4 u.

Physgun = blue beamed gun (as featured in E3 demo) (unavalible in acctual game)

Physcannon = the gravity gun u get from alex (which is charged up on the last level)

LMAO Cream!

Well, I bought the game sunday evening  > had day off from work today :) > played it like mad :woot: > and now just completed it :fun:

All I can say is that Valve have done it again

I would have liked the ending to be a bit longer and in-depth, but it's still good either way.

Radish?

the DVD version isn't only released in the UK, but in whole europe I think.

my DVD box says "not for distribution in the UK", I don't know why???

the DVD version has four 666.000KB (yes... 666  ) CAB files and a fifth 399.507KB CAB file, so it's probably the 5 CD version put together on a DVD. I would hate those 5 CDs, much more chances to get scratches on the cd's etc.

I got Half-Life 2 with my ATi 9600 Pro awhile back. Had the coupon eversince and was kind of anticipating Half Life 2. From what I saw, the game looked very interesting.

Since Half Life 2 is a sequal to Half Like (part 1), would it be better to play Half Life (part 1) before play Half Life 2? I'm just asking because I don't know if there is a storyline or something to follow.

If I'll understand what happens by starting off Half Life 2, then I won't play Half Life 2, but if playing Half Life 1 is good to understand the story and I'll, I guess I can do that too.

I would play HL1 before HL2, but thats just me. Both of them are masterpieces. Either that or go to GamFAQ's and read the script for HL1. If you play HL1, youll get the whole mysteriousness and immersion, yet its not nearly as good as HL2.. sorry... just finished HL2, I seem to ramble. What an ending though

but im not in the uK !!!! im in the USA... and want the DVD ... would it still be in english? hmm anyone know if they will ship the the States?

Damn valve!!!! why give 1 country all the good stuff this is kinda making me want to just get it off Steam but... bah i want a DVD of it!

i got a problem every other time i load a game after i saved it, or when i got to laod the game it says after the level loads  that A.I. DISABLED, how do i reenable it

    • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
