[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Recommended Posts

I have a problem where the game will crash and lockup, after I reboot the computer it will not go into offline mode. I have to get on the internet and login to Steam, launch the game, exit, get off the internet and then I can go into offline mode and play. Has anyone else had this problem? It is really irritating.

no

i found hl1 very boring

while hl2 is actually good

did u have it when it first came out?

coz when it first came out it blow every thing out the water

You DON'T need HL1 to understand how to shoot the enemies in this game.

sorry i was taking about the hardcore hl1 fans, not the hl2 newcomers

For me, I usually have to unplug my network cable and then it will ask me if I would like to go offline. That usually works, but I wish you would have the choice before you logged in.

I am on dialup (not by choice) so I don't have to unplug anything.

BTW I liked your HL2 dvd cover design. I printed it out and made a Half Life 2 dvd case.

Is there a way you can disable windows keys while you are in the game? I am always accidentaly pressing the windows key instead of the zoom button and it goes back to windows. I hate when it does that. BTW, I don't want to disable the windows key within windows.

What happens when it doesn't go into offline?

I get an error message. I can't recall what that is right now but I will write it down when it happens again. I think it says something like "Steam cannot go into offline mode right now, please try again."

Help!

Im stuck on the level where you have to place the 3 turrets... i can't survive the repeated assaults... any help on placing them please?

It's Entanglemant i think!

Thanks in advance

you need to place them so that they are shooting the longest distance, so they don't ge knocked over

i went into a side cooridor, placed one facing the jail doors, one facing the spot you got the turrets, and one facing opposite the jail doors, worked pretty well

(i hope i am thinking of the right part, if it is the other part, put then near the tops of the stairs)

that was the only part I had problems with. box yourself into the small crate room similar to the one you get the turrets out of. if you keep them outside and one goes down, it is very hard to get it back up. staying inside the room you can place them back up easier and also grab any grenades with the gravity gun and toss them aside.

too much fuss. Valve will regret it I think. catching pirates = good, ****ing off your customer base while trying to catch pirates = bad.

$50 = a lot for a game, but worth it if the game is good

$50 + a pile of authentication BS + loss of control by the consumer = breakout point IMHO

It will encourage more piracy (to circumvent the BS) and/or drive away sales.

And mods - please stop deleting my posts just because you don't like what I suggest (you've deleted 3 non-hostile, non-vulgar posts from other threads).... its rather pathetic and its censorship.

I heard from a Modding forum that 400 mods are being developed from low modding to extremely technical modding, here are a few modding sites for HL2 fans

the top ranked mods are:
