[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

no bugs here. i think most bugs are from peoplesl who have dirty machines. i reformated and every game that had bugs in it before now work perfect. audio stuttering is just from badass audio in the game and not enough ram on peoples machines.

how come im not getting the patch?

Did you restart Steam? If you did and you don't see it, try checking your Steam monitor... the patch is really tiny and it only showed up for a couple of seconds... I just caught it in time. That could be why as well. :p

Use to have allot of stuttering, but same as devinlamothe, its now very minor/almost gone :)

@fo20: The audio stutter was due to the textures being loaded into ram....read the news page, thats where it tells u :)

@yert*: U have to restart Steam, and it wont popup and say "Updateing Half Life2" the Steam systray icon changes to its normal updateing icon, and then goes back to normal (although u can use the monitor to look)....only took a minute if that to update for me :p

Had the stuttering problem, but then again all games do that on my computer (damm you nVidia GeForce FX 5200).

Apart from that, no gameplay problems or crashes.

I got a BSOD 1/4 thru the game it had to do with the nv4_disp.dll file.. seems like a driver issue at the part of the game before it ran great :) Using 66.93 WHQL driver on Geforce FX 5600 256mb

Last Great War was originally being developed for UT2003, wasn't it? I guess there are quite a few mod teams who jumped ship from other engines - ideas that have probably been left on the backburner for too long and won't develop into anything.

Even still, I don't think there's any denying that HL2 is the future of modding for years to come.

I got a question, I finished the game a few days ago and don't recall ever getting the pulse rifle (sp?) ... did I miss something or was it pulled from the game?

you should've gotten it somewhere a bit after ravenholm, but after that, lots of combine soldiers and all the combine assasins (guys in white) have them. maybe you did get it and didn't know it was the pulse rifle, it's the second one in the "3" column

I am stuck on the "Anticitizen One" section where I am in some type of forge where I get only so high by way of a rising, movong platform. I getas far as a set of blue doors that I can't open- then can't get any farther! Frustruating! Any suggestions? And how do I take screenies?

TIA,

Jim

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
    • I have been using Firefox for years.
    • I'd trust open source stuff on github more then closed source binaries from Microsoft.
