[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Ok, I am at the part where you are on a rooftop, and there is a lever that you pull, and connected to that is this cart thing on the other side. I go to pull the lever and nothing happens. Also, there is some strange bug that occurs when I load a saved game, enemys don't attack and people don't talk to me in the current level (In this case, Ravenholm). Once I get to the next level it is fine. Anyone know why this is happening?

The first problem: That guy on the other side of the fence (father Gregory) should send over a cart on that rope so you can cross over to the other side of the fence hes on.

The second problem: May be whats causing the first problem, since if he doesnt talk to you he wont send the cart over. Although I'm not sure what could be causing that problem, I've heard of it happening to other people before.

Hmmm, At that point in the game the priest is supposed to send the cart to you...

He is on the other side of the fence and sends a cart over for you.

You then pull the lever to send the cart, and you, back over to his side of the fence.

I am stumped ... Have you used any cheats???

I only ask because I have heard of that happening when using noclip or notarget...

If not you may try leaving the rooftop then going back out.

Also walk to different points on the rooftop to see if the priest talks to you...

If not you may wish to contact Valve on the issue...

Help!

It's Entanglemant i think!

Thanks in advance

As the other say, set them up correctly and you're good. In one of the rooms there is a health & suit power pack on the wall - so I went there every now and again to boost my health.

I places them all together in the corridor:

1. 1x Turret facing 1x Entrance

2. 1x Turret facing 1x Entrance

(1. & 2. are now back to back)

3. 1x Turret facing the corridor

(all 3 are now back to back in a triangle formation covering all 3x entrances to your position.

* If you get stuck hold one of the turrets and it'll auto-fire on approaching enemies...I ended up running around with one of the turrets in my posession - because it works well.

i hear ya!  i had to retry about 5x before i found good positions for the turrents.  i ended up putting them all in a row close to me and hid myself in a corner.  everytime one fell down i'd go over and put it back up.

Yeah, that part was a total bitch for me to do. :pinch:

well anyway. its the level where u are on the waterbike thingy, just gotten past the helpicoster that keeps carpet bombing you, shot that down. then towards the end of the river there is a gate with rope type thing connected to the handle up the top of a tower next to it that you have to turn to open the gate.

anway, i went over towards the right hand side of the screen where there is some sort of dam, saw that the height of one of the sections wasnt that high so i carefully reverse parked up to it and then climbed on the bike to get onto the platform.

at the top of the platform there is a room with 2 control handles, one was broken with sparks etc coming out of it. i turned the other one which opened up one of the gates in the dam.

i then went back into the water and onto the bike and jumped through the gate via a log placed on top of a red cabin in the water.

when i got to the other side, things were really wierd, check out the screenshots. the textures seems to be all messed up and i cant see a way to get out of there, obviouslty i can just go top the last save but i was wondering if anyone else has been in this place too??

    • Does anyone here know if these updates are integrated into the UUP dump isos?

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
