[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

Well, yeah, I know, but what about Alyx? That's my question...

Potential Spoiler Alert:

Im sure she's dead. That big ball in front of you when you finished the game destroyed the citadel in City 17 and also probably everyone on it (With the exception of Gordon Freeman).

I'm thinking of buying the game but I don't wanna spend 50? for a game that won't run very well on my computer. What do you guys think, will it run smoothly or freeze every time there's a little more happening in the game?

My computer: Amd Athlon XP 2200+ (1,8GHz), 512 ddram, Geforce 4 MX 440. I'm not getting a new computer soon but I was just wondering if I can play HL2 with this piece o' crap.

P3 800mhz

256 MB RAM

GeForce FX 5200

works GREAT on here on the settings that Half Life 2 has put me in! No complains at all cept loading times but thats because of my 256 ram.

Anyways i seem to be stuck somewhere. Here:

She tells me that shes gonna take me to Eli right away but she just stands there. Do i have to do something?? I can press Enter to the guy next to her and he tells me to get going ect ect but also does nothing. I tried to shoot/hit them but nothing happens. Whats up??

So definitely not a newer version of DirectX ?

Is it possible to install HL2 that your friend has already once installed on his computer and check how it works? I mean that I wouldn't have to buy the game at first to find out that it doesn't work as beautifully as I was hoping. I'm not sure if this is piratism, I kinda think it's not..? I just don't want to spend an extra 50? because my budget is way too minimal for it if it's complete waste of my money.

I hear ye, an upgrade is expensive. You could, so long as you have your friend with you and the Half Life 2 preload in your Hard Disk Drive. And also you'd have to make sure your friend isnt online on the steam account while you're on as well.

It isn't piracy though so long as your friend gave you permission to use his account. But I'd like to avoid legal problems and cancellation of his account just for your "test". The game is well worth well less than 50 Euro, but you'll definitely be paying for the almost "Perfect Game" of 2004.

Prehaps G-Man saved Alyx too, to use her on next assignments with Gordon

Ok, started playing HL2, What an awsome game.

The problem is that it makes me sick to the stumoch.

Its not the refresh rate, I have it set to 85. I had the same problem with "Men of Valor", that new vietname game.

I have been feeling dizzy the whole day now.

The problem is that HL2 FOV (Field of view) is incorrect, for ME atleast. It is set to 75 I think, I tried "default_fov 90" at the console, but it reverts back to 75 when you return to game.

Does anyone know how to make fov 90.

Thanks.

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag.
