[DEFINITIVE] Half-Life 2 Thread

This is normal, HL2 has this problem.

I get a little dizzy but no more than that. That must be cause i play quake 3 arena usually 5 or 6 hours a day everyday and im like "used to the fov sickness (i use fov 100 on q3a)". I tell you more, i play since quake 1 and A LOT of time a day since then...

Anyways for a person that never plays FPS or doesnt play too often could be fatal "vomitically speaking" LOL

Its normal, its not you, i dare to say that 75% of ppl who played HL2 had the same symptoms that you had.

Just do this, do a google search with this words "HL2 sick" and youll find you are not alone. ;)

Just go and see your doctor till you know you are ok to play the game.

Anyways i heard valve was aware about this problem and its trying to find a solution.

why are you afraid of a port of HL2 coming to the Xbox?

What's the matter? Halo 2 too short for you? Getting pwned by kiddies online?

Who said we HAD to share PC games with stupid consoles? The only reason is to push more numbers. They never do anything creative with ports from console to PC, why should we do anything special for them?

There's a reason HL2 came to the computer first, it's a better medium for this kind of game. Halo 2 is more simpler, better for some shmuck to pick up and play rather than an ultimate gamer pick up a mouse and keyboard and game with HL2. :ninja:

No offense, or anything. You have fun your own way, we'll have fun our own way.

I reached a point with video games that sometimes they leave me feeling really dizzy or just 'not 100%' - its weird because on certain monitors or even sometimes on my own monitor I don't get it. But sometimes it really messes me up. I used to be able to play for hours and hours and hours at a time and now I usually do an hour or two tops and then take a break.

I'd suggest you go get your eyes checked (on my list of things to do) and just remeber to take plenty of breaks in the game.. don't just sit playing it for hours straight!

The rocket launcher is the only weapon that can kill them. Takes around 4 or 5 shots to take each one down.

* SPOILER *

Agreed, normally 5 shots will take one down - and you do know their is a cash of rockets in a crate up one of the steps don't ya? Camp near there and take down those ships.

nooooo!!! this day have come! the day when i completed half-life 2 :(

what can i say though, it was the best fps game i ever played! absolutely magnificent :) i must say that ending wasnt so bad too...open endings are better for sequels ;)

My game seems to freeze when I am done with the hover boat thing, and I am scanned by a lazer and led to a elevator by a woman.. I cant get the elevator to go down???

anyone have this problem... I cant seem to get the game to go on?

please help

thanks

It seems that I am the only one who whas amazingly impressed with the ending. I love mistery

Hey it was ok, just so anticlimactic... the way it just froze, I don't even see a proper explosion or anything.. I was like pfff...

Now I have to play HL3. sigh...

Even though the ending was a little ...... cough ....... It still is the best FPS game I have ever played. And I've played allot.

To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed in the ending the first time through. This is definately a game you must play at least two times to really apreciate. The first time through, much of the time, you are frantically trying to kill or not be killed. This still happens the second time through, but I've noticed playing the second time that I'm spending more time taking in my surroundings in the "down time" the game gives you, and there are a ton of things to see and hear.

There are major events taking place and very important plot hints all over this game, you just have to stop and pay attention. Look at those papers and posters on the walls. Listen to every word people are saying to you. Listen to Breen's broadcasts carefully. Listen to what people are saying behind closed doors. Watch what characters are doing off in the distance. This game just gets better and better, and I can garuntee that if you pay attention to the things I have mentioned, the ending will no longer be a disappointment, it will excite and amaze you. Not only because it is a spectacular ending (though confusing at first) but because at the end things start to pull together, you get a hint of what may be happening and things begin to make sense, and that is very exciting. Of course the only problem is that HL3 won't be coming out for at least a few years, it isn't even Valve's next project.

I just think this speaks loads about how well Valve tells the HL story. They aren't handing you the plotline on a platter, they aren't showing you the whole big picture... everything is from Gordon's perspective, your perspective, and just like in real life you have to take it all in and figure things out for yourself, and if you miss some things, well, then you don't know what the hell is going on at all. The great thing about a video game is you can play it over and over and discover new things to get a better understanding. Halo 2 is very cinematic, engaging and entertaining, and the plot and backstory is pretty interesting sci-fi, but this game is IMMERSIVE. You ARE Gordan Freeman, and I just think this is one of the most genious game franchises ever created from a storytelling standpoint.

Hey now don't say that. I was very impressed. I hate long endings with final bosses and all that rubbish. I like the element of mystery myself.

Excellent post. That is how I see this game, you need to be aware on the details to enjoy it at it fullest. Certainly not a game for the common gamer.

my only compliant is the same from far cry, i was expecting a bit more of a battle at the end.. i was just screwing around, throwing the engery balss around, then poof i win... i was really confused :p

and with far cry.. i ACCIDENTALLY put a pistol bullet through the last guys head, cause he startled me when i opened the door

    • Along with that and very unfortunate for Linux, the AI boom/tariffs/global supply chain instability really destroyed any chances of it getting a decent chunk of market share. By all accounts, if a Steam Deck was still available for $399 (with tons of alternatives releasing at $500-$800 - instead of $1500+ now) and the Steam Machine was out there for $499, I think a lot of people WOULD have been willing to try SteamOS and switch away from Windows. But yeah, with the crazy jacked up prices now, people have to make safe bets with their money.
    • Neowin hasn't been covering the Ladybird browser but it has been posted about on a lot of tech and Linux/open source sites. I have been following the effort myself for almost a year now. Cloudflare and Proton are among their sponsors. You can read the why here--> https://ladybird.org/#about
    • That's really the user's problem, not the developers. It's not like the Windows 10 EOL was a surprise. Once a product goes out of support, you have to understand YOU are owning the risk of running it - the rest of the world will move on, maybe you'll be OK, maybe you'll be OK for a while, maybe you'll have an issue.... But you can't expect devs to write or certify software for dead operating systems.
    • Not mentioned in this blog post is that Linux has now dropped for 2 months in a row. At a hight of 5.33% in March, then 4.52% in April and now 3.99% in May. I suspect the end of Windows 10 got a bunch of people to try Linux, fueled by all the Microsoft hate, and rabid social media push of that....and now they are going back to Windows 11 because of the normal Linux issues. The vast majority of PC gamers want to use their computers to game and not trouble shoot why a game wont work, or half work.
    • do these change.org petitions ever do anything besides give people a place to complain?
