Is there any servers with lots of people? Every server I go on seems to be pretty dead with the ocasional player sighting. I wanna pick a server for good so I dont have a million creatures. :p

when you choose a server, theres a column for Population. Pick a medium or high one if you want alot of people. Just realize that when events happen, there may be queues/wait times to login and play if you do.

Also, even on medium/high population servers, most everyone is in Outlands. Old content is fairly light on people running around now.

Speaking of having half the screen covered. You sure youve got enuff going on in that screen?

I don't always have the MonkeyBuddy quests all expanded like that. Earlier I had been comparing quests with a friend is the reason they're all expanded in that shot.

The fact you have auto attack as button 1 and only have 5k hp at lvl 70 speaks volumes.

What difference does it make what button is #1 and what's wrong with having 5k hp at 70? I have friends whose warlocks are level 70 and have 7k hp but I can kick their rear ends before mine drops below 2k.

I feel like a newb reading these threads. Only got into WoW two weeks ago, and I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

Only character I have is a Lv 16 Drenei Paladin with pansy 384hp. I fail to see whats wrong with a 70 character with 5k hp. Man I should read more.

A lock never needs to auto attack for one thing. Also, your friends must be bad :(. None of the locks in my guild have less than 7500 hp.

To each their own I suppose.

A lock that never solos doesn't need auto attack. I've had no problems with my warlock the way he's spec'd, and 7500 hp won't do you a bit of good when I can 2 or 3 shot it. As for the rest, the way you comment on how others choose to play and spec their characters speaks volumes, not only of your in game, but your out of game personality as well. You are correct on one point though, and that is to each his own.

http://wowwiki.com/ - good place for info on classes, professions, starting out, etc. etc. useful.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/ - i use this site a lot to help with quests.

http://www.thottbot.com/ - kind of like allakhazam. woot.

the last2 are owned by goldbuyer/selling companys dont use them

at lvl 70 my lock has almost 9k hits unbuffed

That's the new land mass added with the Burning Crusades expansion. You have to be, well, you're supposed to be level 60 to get out there. People figured out that mages could learn Summon Portal: Shattrath (a neutral city in Outlands) and then people below 60 could get there using the summoned portal. Unless you have a lower than 60 character with maxed or near maxed out trade skills and you're looking for training / new patterns etc. to learn, or you just want to look around, there's not much use in going to the Outlands before 60 or at the very least mid 50's as all of the content and quests are too high level for anyone lower than that.

Edit: I will say this though. Once you get to Outlands, gold will no longer be an issue for you. Loot drops and quest rewards are tremendously improved. It's easy to make a few hundred gold in just a couple of hours playing and that's just on the quest rewards without putting anything up in the auction house.

no its not a new server. You know how there is eastern kingdoms and kalimdor? Think of it as another continent, its Outland!

PS: artex, stop talking. No one gives a rat's ass what you think and no need to start flaming someone because they do not play 8 hours a day.

Thank you! I'm tired of these elitists thinking they're so amazing. They're what make playing games like WoW (or any game for that matter) annoying.

*Still Confused* I think Im getting realms, servers and all those mixed up. Are all the realms connected or something?

Sorry for asking all these newbish questions but thats what I am in WoW, a newbie. :p

Uh? That's more or less how games like WoW work. I don't play WoW anymore - I quit during my trial because I had more constructive things to do, like sticking my hand in a food processor. The lore and stuff interests the hell out of me, but I can't stand the game itself or the people playing it. I spent more time reading the official forums and soaking in all the information than playing the game. Anyway, that guy who plays 8 hours a day? He is going to end up better than you, like it or not. Every MMO works this way. Also, I didn't see him flame anyone, or even mention play times. Perhaps you should stop talking instead? Looks to me like he's just trying to give advice.

I really did want to enjoy WoW, I was a huge huge huge fan of all the RTS games. I honestly had a lot of faith in Blizzard that they could make a MMO and not fall back to the same tactics everyone else did (namely, boring level grinds, and gear grinds at 60). I got a priest into the 20s and just couldn't stand it anymore. It was just the same crap painted a different color. Instead of killing 10 kobolds in the human starting place, I was killing 10 wolves or whatever. And, there's what I was saying above. The people who play 5 or more hours a day are always going to kick my ass. I'd spend an hour, maybe 2 tops a day playing, because that was all I could stomach. I don't understand how some people can sit around and devote the time they do to this game.

Well I just started up again after 2 months of being off the game. I quit 2 weeks before the expansion hit out. Ever since the expansion was out I was curious about it, heh , I quit at the wrong time (in my opinion). Anyways, i caved and went back , I am part of a large guild , not quite raiding size but we still do naxx (alliance of 2 guilds go there as 40), and both our guilds are preparing for the 25-man content. Honestly I will tell you this, being 70 with nice blues still don't mean jack if you don't know how to raid. heh (After learning that from an interesting night of BWL). My guild is helping me reach 70 and hopefully join the ranks on joining their 25-mans.

Enjoy the game, thats all that matters..

    • This got me thinking, would you rather a self driving car prioritise protecting its passengers or everyone else? I'd choose the one that keeps me and my kids safest. At some point, these cars have to make those choices already, don't they? Wonder if we have a way to find out what way they lean.
    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.
