Very nice man. I know that fight isn't no pushover in 10 man and defiently not one in 25 man (hello m'uru fight!).

Thanks :)

Considering last time we attempted him (3 weeks ago with a bad group) and struggled on p1. To go in on a Friday and kill him Saturday evening makes me feel quite /flex. :p

Yeah the fight is certainly challenging. But unfortunately P4 is predominately based on luck (direction he chooses to fire his barrage determines how much trouble you're going to get in trying to avoid the fires). We had a wipe with 50k on the head, middle dead and bottom on 20k because the ranged got cut off! Only Orbituary, I love the smell and 1 light in the darkness till we get our drakes. :p

I've just got back into playing it after a years break. I decided to try out the Death Knight and I'm happy so far but I got a few questions.

Obviously you start at level 55 so how does that effect professions? Will I have to start say blacksmithing from 1 or will they let me start at a higher level? Thats alot of catchup to do.

Also, I'm on the Azjol-Nerub server as I have been for years. But I've noticed I'm getting lag spikes quite often. Every 10 minutes or so. It's very frustrating as when I get around to doing a raid or instance, its going to hinder my performance quite a bit.

You start at the bottom with talents and professions. It's easier to level professions since you start at 55 and can gather easier. You get more than one talent point per level until it's balanced out.

Articifical challenges implemented through time restrictions. Blizzard's new way of making fights hard.

By all accounts the boss himself isn't to hard to learn nor is it to hard to figure out what to do. The time limit is what makes it a challenge. It'll be awhile till ya'll kill him unless A) Your have some amazing people and are quick to learn fights or B) Ensidia or the next guild to kill him releases the strat for it. By all accounts he would have been dead weeks ago if it wasn't for the timer. And even then it took Ensidia 4 resets to have one of the timers kill him (the other timers probally all shared info, which is equilvant to there not being any time restriction IMO). But none-the-less quite an accomplishment, especially in a relativly young time that Ulduar has been out.

Anyone mind sending a EU Scroll of Rez to me?

Thank you Karl!

Edit:

What??

This is not a World of Warcraft Classic account. Only World of Warcraft Classic accounts can be resurrected.

Since when does that rule apply >.<

Unfortunately I believe this may well be the case. We were dropping him to 70% with very little effort. :(

I fear the only difficulty in this fight is working out this tweak and he'll be down.

So you may recall that I recently re-rolled to join a friend on another server as raiding just isn't fun anymore without a challenge (though Ulduar has tempted). So i rolled a DK to join him. Leveled him fairly quick to 70 after I got my mining up to the correct level and kept JC nearly the same. Anyways, haven't been playing much since I dinged 70 on him, which resulted in me almost always having full rested XP. I've done all of Boren Tundra, Howling Fjord, and all of Dragonblight (waiting for Battle of UC to start). I'm currently 77 and about 60%. Pretty ****ing awesome to do 7 and a half levels in three zones. Hoping Grizzly Hills + dungeon runs, will net me 80 over the next week. Leaving all of Icecrown, Zul'drak, Basin and Storm peaks to quest, which will make my epic mount even easier to come by.

TLDR: Rested XP FTW!

I disagree. While you can go to areas such as the Barrens or Ashenvale without fear of being killed its still a chore. Its not fun its annoying and having to start mining from 0 when I'm a level 55 is absurb if you ask me. I have to spend ages now going around level 5 areas getting my mining up. I just think they could have given players a head start, after all they give you first aid which starts at about 250 or so. Kind of sucks the fun out of it.

Mining is easy. You can smelt your way to 340ish. 1-300 took me 4 hours as a DK. I've done it twice on two toons. The first one was as a blood DK and it was simply to get my level up there to quest with. The second time took me about 6 hours as an Unholy DK (Pale Horse only reason why I mentioned spec's) but I also mined in excessive of each ore to get my JCing up to 200 before I decided to come back and finish JC at 80.

So 4-6 hours is nothing when you think you start at 58 (starter quests are super easy) and you get a free epic mount.

I said easier, not more fun. :) I'd love it if all the herbs in a zone just jumped into my bags, but I still have to go pick them up. I usually help out lowbies while I'm gathering in a starting area. The Death Knights are raised from the dead and then become 'good' after they rebel. It's feasible that they wouldn't remember any of their run-of-the-mill skills after that.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would ask for some serious technical help about Wow.

Since a long break I've gone back to it, installing fresh all expansions. However from the start I've noticed what appears to be lag spikes at regular intervals.

I've tried as much as I can. Forwarding Blizzard ports, disabling firewall, disabling addons, rebooting. None of it makes a difference. Its really starting to affect play as instances are a mess and when I'm travelling the land, enemies will just pop up and I'm caught in a mass brawl.

I ran a traceroute and came up with the following information.

Same thing as me on my Mage. I did Borean, Fjord, Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills then the Basin and a couple dungeons along the way. Went from 68-80 by doing those zones and getting the achievements.

Can some of you more knowledgable tanks give me a quick look over please?

I am not a very confident tank as I did none while I was leveling, I raided with my current guild as DPS. However I have dropped out of raiding due to time but enjoy raiding.

I have joined a few pugs as dps and keep asking about if I can tank but there always seems a "better option".

I am 7 badges away from the BOE bracers BTW

Your health is low. I'd use the stm trinket from H AN over Valor. You are missing helm/shoulder/cloak/chest which will help your overall stats. If possible you should try to get the two set bonus for T7 as it's a very nifty bonus to your damage/TPS. Though you would want the Valorous piece to replace any of the pieces you already have. You also really need to replace the blue ring of yours.

As to your spec. You should have 2/5 Cruetly, 2/5 Shield Spec, 3/3 Deep Wounds, 3/3 Focused Rage. It'll be better for your overall TPS. You Glyphs look solid. Only thing I would do i suse Charge over Bloodrage. It helps keep the pace going when chain pulling, allowing you to charge further and keep your rage up.

Yea I do have a couple of Heroic peices in the bank but I don't want to use them over what I have. Thanks for the advise, I'll look into some changes.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES!

Another guild killed Algalon and made Ensidia enrage. How? They only went and released the kill vid showing exactly how to kill him! Not only does he have one phase. He only has 3 things you need to do! :D

Cue another 20-30 guilds getting kills this week. :p

edit: Just watched the high rez vid. Completely and utterly certain that if you can kill mim. After this vid. You will down him this week.

    • AI is the beginning, wait until real robots replace more jobs, specifically jobs that require physical work.
    • AI is indeed eliminating jobs, and Oracle just proved it by Hamid Ganji There’s no question that AI has become the hottest trend in workplaces, and every company is trying to adopt AI-driven solutions across its operations. While some industry leaders repeatedly say AI won’t lead to massive layoffs, recent data suggest that AI is actually one of the main reasons some companies are reducing their workforce. According to Oracle’s annual regulatory filing, the company has laid off about 21,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce, amid increasing AI adoption. “The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” Oracle said in the filing. The software giant now has approximately 141,000 full-time employees, a notable decrease from 162,000 during the same period last year. Restructuring expenses, including severance payments, cost Oracle $1.84 billion in fiscal 2026. Additionally, around 49,000 Oracle employees were based in the U.S., while approximately 92,000 were employed internationally. Like many other companies, Oracle has fully embraced AI and concentrated much of its efforts on the technology. The company is also a key participant in the United States’ $500 billion Stargate Project, which aims to build multiple AI data centers across the country. When it comes to AI adoption and its impact on the workforce, opinions remain divided. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, whose company has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom, recently said in an interview that attributing job cuts to AI is a “lazy” narrative. “The narrative that connects AI to job loss, for many of the CEOs that are doing it – it is just too lazy. AI has just arrived, how is it possible they're already losing jobs?” Huang said. However, statistics and recent reports tell a different story. According to Layoffs.fyi, 196 tech companies have laid off about 119,800 employees so far this year. Reducing staff and replacing roles with AI agents could become one of the most significant trends in the job market in the years ahead.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
