Frost Nova unfortunately has a cooldown however. :p When its on CD I try and blink sometimes but that doesnt get me that far from the mob and he'll just continue hitting me.

Are you leveling as frost? If not, why not?

You should be able to kill most things via a nova and shatter crits.

Yeah my mage is level 75 now and I felt more survivability than I ever did on my pally. I leveled as frost.

As fire you should be able to 2-3 shot mobs long before they get to you, but frost offers the same ability with much less downtime and higher survivability.

Spec frost with frostbite, shatter, ice shards, piercing ice and permafrost. Frost bolt x2, nova, frost bolt, fire blast/arcane explosion should kill any melee mob before it has a chance to hit you.

For healer mobs: DPS as normal and save counterspell for when they go to heal.

For mage-type mobs: blow counterspell early, make sure to use frost/fire ward, keep dampen magic on yourself. Using mana shield with a mana gem is a good way to save yourself when things go horribly wrong.

For making distance: nova then strafe left or right - don't turn and run or run through the mob. Never back up. Strafing allows you to use instant cast spells as you move.

Try to blink left or right of a mob rather than through it. If you've nova'd something run rather than blinking: there's no rush if the thing is frozen in place.

Don't discount Frost bolt rank 1: with a 1 second cast time it's a great way to snare an enemy or two without planting you in one spot too long: it doesn't really do any damage but it's great for kiting.

I usually ran around with mage armor on just to help reduce the down-time from running out of mana. My mage has been parked outside Sunwell since October. I finally started leveling her this week so I can join Slane & co for casual raiding: she's 72 now.

EDIT:

I'm leveling my mage arcane but only because I'm doing it with friends leveling a deathknight, warlock, and druid. I'm always in a group of 4 so things die faster than I can cast frost bolt. If I were doing this solo I'd be full frost.

Can't wait man. Be nice to have a group to run heroics and eventually raiding with. Been questing all the zones I didn't do when I leveled in Northrend. Got my epic flying (so awesome) and have been making some serious gold (2.3k between Zul and Basin). Plan on starting Storm Peaks tommorow and hopefully knocking it all out, then hitting up Icecrown to at least get my Knights of Ebon Blade tabard. Only one heroic to get a Frozen Orb to get Spiked Titansteel helm. I'm 100% focused on getting gold and that's about it. Getting gear from heroics can happen later in the week.

If anyone else is intrested (Ianpete for sure) I'm on the Terenas realm. My name is Elyb. Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday will be raid days, not 100% sure about raid times. As Evn said it will be casual but that doesn't mean we will carry sub-par players who just can't perform. Not trying to sound Eltist or anything but we don't want to get stuck in a rut on a certain boss or continous fail because somebody doesn't/can't/won't make they have proper specs/rotations nor learned the fights or try to improve themselves. Don't need Super All-Stars, but good players.

Just don't want to have someone transfer only to get toss aside if are views/ideas don't match each other. If you just want to come over to chill with a few fellow neowinian's and maybe raid with us when it's not progression content (tier 7 proball after two weeks tops) then it's all good. Just trying to not to promise anybody any spots if you can't keep up (myself included).

I'd be more then willing to be a part of this, sadly, I don't have the drive to level alone. I suppose this is what I get for letting my other accounts expire for the past 2 years and being broke, haha.

If you all wouldn't mind running (and running.. and running) me through instances, I'll start the grind. However, seeing as that's not something people enjoy to do, which I understand, I think leveling would take me too long.

Edit:

My main: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.x...p;n=Dominatious

Kind of stuck in my current guild as we don't have the numbers for 25 mans.

However, my gear score isn't too bad (2217), and according to WoW-Heroes.com I'm the best geared in my guild.

I'd roll a hunter, as it's what I know best.

Talking about Yogg Saron doing it with 0 watchers must be insane. No sanity regen, 50% less damage, less health.

I'd imagine not being able to kill the adds in p3 will make it a nightmare. Lack of sanity regen wasn't an issue for us. But we did hit p3 after two trips in to his mind. I doubt that'd be possible with 0 keepers.

Not too keen to find out how difficult it is tbh. :p

(assuming two tanks). One pick's them up as they come out. Another tank grabs 'em and holds 'em at 1HP. There damage is based on the Health. When Yogg heals one, either have DPS focus fire that one down quick or other tank grabs it and holds it till it's low and then the other tank snags it. And you would need pretty high and nearly BiS gear from Ulduar for everyone to do.

No doubt. Oh well. I know I won't be finding out how difficult it is. Lots of guildies making a fuss now over how they want to go and get their drakes. The minor achievements will have to wait for another time. :(

all of you doing and clearing Uldar make me jellious, lol

in the guild im in we hardly have enough to clear Naxx, and that is including all the new recruits ( just got Full T7 DK Tank )

but naxx we clear in a night, for some reason we 1 shot all the boss's, but had trouble with the Instructor

I just want to raise a few points. I've given WoW a well earned break for over a year, but 2 weeks ago I just had this urge to try it again. The changes the recent patches made were just what was needed. However I do feel a sour point on one issue. Mounts in Northrend.

Currently, you can get a flying mount at 70. You need to pay 800g for the flying skill and however much for the mount itself. for some who mine everyday, do raids and have alot of gold floating about its not a problem. But when your like me, a casual gamer who has no more than 200g in my pocket at one time, its a struggle. If getting to that figure of 1000g is bad enough, you then have to fork out a further 1000g just to fly the mount you paid for in Northrend. Which to be honest leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. They seem to give you mounts when you don't need them. I could have done with a flying mouth when I was level 61 getting around to quests but they give it to me when I'm done. Now I made it to Northred I find it annoying that I can't flying without paying out another 1000g. What makes things more annoying is even if you did have the cash you still can't do it until level 77. Can someone explain this to me? Why the extra 1000g?

One more point which is more of a server side issue. It's a shame all people seem to care about is level 80 raids. It's hard to find a group for any instance below 80. I feel its a pity. But this isn't Blizzards fault, its the people obsessed with raiding. I've never raided before, so maybe that's why I don't get what all the fuss is about. Anyway, rant over.

Because gold is easy to come by in Northrend?

You don't have to be a hardcore raider/gatherer to make money. As a casual player just doing a few dailies nets you a few hundred gold. If you buy low/sell high on the auction house (which takes just a few minutes with something like Auctioneer) you can make a ton too for practically zero effort. If you're not raiding, then there's really nothing else for you to spend your money on, besides whatever repair costs you incur (which should be very little doing dailies/heroics).

Hell-In-A-Handbasket: Were you in a 25man or a 10 man? Instructor on 25 is arguably the hardest fight for most groups.

My guild doesn't have enough to clear naxx25 yet, so I join the same pug every week. As it is, I hardly need gear from there now, maybe one or two pieces. Pugging isn't always bad, last night, after we cleaned up the rest of naxx10, I joined a pug Ulduar10 and got FL, XT and Razorscale down before I called it a night.

NORR: Like everything else blizzard decides to do, the mount thing is to keep you playing longer. If you have a goal to reach while leveling you are more likely to play longer to do so. If we were able to use our mounts from outland right away, there wouldn't be much to leveling, and people might think it a bit boring.

Personally, I didn't mind that they made the level req. 77. Not to mention I leveled relatively quickly, and am finally going back to Icecrown and the Storm Peaks to quest.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
