Here's a weird one. I'm asking for add on advice.

Anyone know any great Shaman add ons?

Depends on what you want to do (Elemental, Enhancement, or Resto), but one of my favorite for every spec is ShieldsUp. I also use TotemTimers, but that's more of a personal preference thing. Blizzard's new Totem bar is great, but I wanted something with slightly different functionality and that fit into my custom UI.

Past that, I use Power Auras?with some custom rules for Enhancement (lot of CDs and I'd rather keep my eyes on the middle of the screen). Clique is nice for Resto, but it's not necessary (I use it to bind Chain Heal to my right click only on Grid's frames for those CH spam fights like Blood Queen). Elemental is three or four buttons, so not much you need there. :p

Addon searching:

Looking for an addon that I had before, but can't remember the name. It was like Shared media but it had an interface that you could change everything in-game. I can't seem to fine it anywhere. Unless of course I dl'd an old version of shared media that doesn't do that, but new one does. Anyone have an idea I'm talking about? I thought it was here, I learned the name of it, but after a brief search nothing came up.

I don't suppose you're thinking of 'skinner'?

I don't suppose you're thinking of 'skinner'?

No. This one had like font options in a drop-down menu for every aspect of the font. I could change the Character screen font, the quest window, the talent book, achievements, etc. all from the interface the add-on had in-game. I also could choose the bar for each and every add-on. So I could set it up and it would change all of 'em to 'Minimialist' or 'Banto Bar' etc.

Skinner kinda of does what I need but not quite.

unrelated: I checked my spam box and apparently I've had a beta invite for 3 weeks.

eh make sure its real haha. I've had a few "beta invites" too in my spam and upon inspection they were sent from "@hotmail.com" and the @blizzard.com/@battle.net were just spoofed. most spam systems are able to distinguish this and mark it correctly.

I just received a Cataclysm Beta invitation email. It looks pretty real and the links all lead to official blizzard sites, I even look up the email address and header and people claim it's real. In the Email it says;

"1. Get the Installer: Log in to your Battle.net account. In your list of games, click the “Manage Game” button under the Cataclysm beta image to download the installer; you’ll also be able to copy a character to the beta-test realms through the same page. Please note that your Battle.net account should be flagged for beta access within roughly 24 hours upon receipt of this email."

And people claim to have been granted Beta access later that day.

I'm still a bit unsure, it doesn't look too convincing ( Is a bit plain? ) but it wasn't caught by the spam filter like the 200.000 other Cataclysm invitations I get. It's pretty long, detailed and isn't filled with typos and none of the links are phishing URLs.

Can someone in the Beta or with more knowledge shed some light on this, show me how the real invitation email looks, what address it should be from etc. ?

No idea, just log into your battle.net account and see.

Still isn't there, as the email states, can take up to 24h - So I'm just trying to make sure I'm not getting excited about a scam mail.

The people on the WoW forums say they generally get the tag on the bnet account first then get the e-mail later... I wouldn't respond/click on anything - if you're invited it will be on your battle.net account.

Just an example;

http://www.mmowned.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/general/299376-europe-cataclysm-beta.html#post1910096

Everywhere else, they say the [email protected] address is the real one, plus many of the people who claim to have gotten in posted a

snippet of their Email and it reads exactly like mine.

So either it's a very good scam or I did in fact get an invite.

None of the URLs are phishing URLs either, they are all legit.

This is confusing

EDIT: Now I need to use US Battle.net instead of the EU portal to check my WoW account management, odd.

EDIT2: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=13816847763&postId=138154960340&sid=1 <-- A Green added that to the official FAQ and that's what my Email looks like, exactly http://dl.dropbox.com/u/473845/Cataclysm.png - So I guess I'm in?

Relying on the content of a mail posted to a forum seems like a bad choice given that hackers could just as easily imitate it.

I had a warcraft beta icon in my battlenet settings, but the invitation was sent weeks ago so there could have been some delay that I didn't notice.

Just check tomorrow and see if anything worthwhile is in there.

I need a screenshot for this later but:

Holy ****, that's a cool 70,000g for nothing. Good work. (Y)

Hi guys, I used to play WoW, and I sucked at it... But now, I'm thirstin' for another MMORPG, figured this was the way to go. A friend of mine seems to have a stockpile of free weeks, twenty free weeks, to be exact, and he offered them all to me. I was wondering if I'd have to make a new account each time, or what. If you guys know of any problems with my plan to use all 20 weeks on a single account, please tell me. Thanks.

Aside from the magic you pull off at accumulating gold, I have a slight rant at you:

Why are you saying "PST me" ? It translates as "please send tell me", which sounds incredibly bad, and from the little I know about you, is the exact opposite of you.

What happened to "whisper me" ?

I realize that this is pretty stupid of me but I just wanted to get it out of me :p

I think that's fairly standard nomenclature in the game in the same way that "jimmy taunt x" doesn't necessary mean you want jimmy to actually cast taunt; Hand of Righteousness or Dark Command are valid actions too. PST is the general form of the action "message this person".

I suppose you could make a reasonable argument that PST is similar to USA being an an acronym for "United States of America" where the minor word "of" is dropped. In that case PST could stand for "Please Send a Tell to" where the minor words "a" and "to" have been dropped.

What happened to "whisper me" ?

A bottle of jager and half a bottle of gin happened. It's not called drunken alt icc for nothing.

Apparently, the Beta invites sent out yesterday didn't update the accounts they were sent to - Several people still haven't received Beta access despite getting the invite, including me.

So now we had to go through community reps and gamemasters, they should be looking into it now. Had hoped my Sunday would be used for gaming Cataclysm :( Hopefully it'll be sorted

by tonight but I won't get my hopes up.

Transfer to the PVE server - we can make a guild and such.

The mechanics in the new 5-mans are about as difficult as karazhan which means that most pugs are incapable of doing them after 2 years of being handed free loot.

    • The proportion (or number of iterations) has nothing to with this aspect of Copyright I am describing. In short, it doesn't matter how many times the manager tells you to change something or how. Your work product is always YOURS until and unless you then assign that to the person representing the client/company, usually for financial compensation -- either in salary or as a subcontract work for hire payment. if iterations determined copyright, then businesses would have learned to just keep making changes until they could claim they owned the copyright, without having to compensate the artist for their work. And that would be BAD. The only place where the amount of changes does have a role is in how much does a human modify a previous public domain work (from any source) before it is considered fair use or their own work, etc. For example, if a human makes substantial changes to a public domain (re: AI, by definition) work, then they can then claim that derivative work as their own...but NEVER the original version, of course. That's why anyone can make a movie about Dracula, for example, as long as it is based on the public domain novel, but not if they take new ideas from copyrighted movies made afterwards. As one of the people who personally advised the US Copyright Office on their recent ruling on these very issues, be assured that I specifically used the terminology precisely -- though I made it simple enough for laymen to understand it. If I made this confusing by doing so, I apologize. But, to be clear regarding your assumption that I would agree to your second statement that I quoted above -- the answer is NO. If AI does the work, no matter how much "direction" you give it, it cannot be copyrighted. All AI generated content is in the Public Domain and therefore the copyright cannot be assigned to ANYONE, even you -- until and unless substantial modifications are made to it BY A HUMAN BEING (yourself or a contracted artist/writer/etc.) and then that copyright on the derivative work is legally (in writing) transferred to you. This is a critical distinction. And it is important that people, especially AI sloppers, understand this. For example, YouTube is not paying AI slop generators for the copyright, etc. of their AI slop. What YouTube is doing is sharing AD REVENUE for permission to publish your AI slop. Copyright/ownership/rights never come into it. Importantly, that means that anyone can copy any AI slopware on YouTube, etc. and rehost it anywhere they want, even back on YouTube, and there is nothing legal that YouTube can do about it with regards to copyright protections, ownership, DMCA, etc. Anyone is legally free to use any AI slopware in any way they want. When this ruling was pending, I warned Disney legal of all of this before they did their OpenAI deal -- that it would literally dilute their entire IP portfolio forever. They ignored that warning for the PR and stock bump. But that is why, when the ruling came down last year, Disney quickly extricated themselves from that OpenAI deal, even eating the initial upfront fees -- followed closely by OpenAI ending their entire AI video generating business model. They adjusted their PR release dates to make this less obvious to shareholders, of course. Phew. I hope that this clears up the key distinctions for you and anyone reading. If you have any additional questions or even hypotheticals about AI and Copyright, please feel free to ask.

    • Owing to the nature of Windows feature enablement updates, it was distributed over Windows Update services as a complete system upgrade rather than as an ordinary cumulative update
    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2, urges IT admins to prepare for release by Usama Jawad Windows 11 typically follows an annual update cycle, but Microsoft recently broke that tradition a bit by releasing a "26H1" version in the first half of this year as a "scoped" build for select new silicon PCs only. This version was not available for customers using 24H2 and 25H2 builds, as Microsoft is busy preparing version 26H2 for them, confirmed officially for the first time. In a Windows IT Pro blog, Microsoft has urged IT admins to prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2. The company has confirmed that this will be a small enablement package (eKB) that will simply light up certain disabled features that are already present in the operating system's code base. This means that the "refined" Windows update and deployment experience will be simpler and quicker, with minimal disruptions, as the feature update will simply toggle a few flags rather than performing a complete replacement. Microsoft has explained that this is all possible because the standard Windows 11 releases share the same servicing branch and hence, the same source code. However, this also means that Windows 11 26H1 users won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 as that is a different branch, but this is something we have known for a while now. Similar to previous annual feature updates, Windows 11 26H2 will offer the following support cycles: 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro EDU, and Pro for Workstations editions 36 months of support for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise Multi-session editions Microsoft has not confirmed a concrete release date for Windows 11 26H2, but noted that it is "coming soon". If we go by the ongoing release cadence, we can expect it to begin rolling out in early October 2026. As such, IT admins have been encouraged to begin validating Windows Insider releases in the Experimental Channel, plan rollout rings, and strategize the utilization of their existing deployment tools.
