Got bored, tried logging into my account, and wouldn't you know it- My authenticators battery died... I've only had it for 3 1/2 months, how is this possible? O.o

That is strange ... I've had mine for over a year and it's still going strong.

That is strange ... I've had mine for over a year and it's still going strong.

Exactly, my bro has one that he has had since they release them... Still works perfectly fine. Maybe I got a botched one?

I've seen horror stories of people spending weeks trying to get them off accounts, I don't even know if I want to go through with that to sit in Dalaran to stare at my pretty gear >_>

Few generic pet peeves:

- Outline chat if you can't read it remove the huge black box.

I'd just gotten out of a random when I took that, so the bar hadn't faded, the chat is black because the sun glares in my eye when I play during the mornings, so it's black so it doesn't have a glare.

Guys is this legit ?

And if so, can an email header be forged ?

EDIT : after checking the official board it appears to be legit, but I can't see the Cata account in my Battle.net, it says to wait 24h in the mail, does it take a long time ?

Guys is this legit ?

No the [email protected] isn't a blizzard email I dont think and its usually just added to your account so see if it is in your battle.net account.

Not a pain at all. Unfortunately I'm unsure if the skinner.lua file I've uploaded will indeed give you my Skinner profile / setup. Try extracting the included file to this directory once you've installed the Skinner addon.

As far as the font goes, it's called Emblem, but I forgot where I grabbed it from originally so I've also uploaded it for you. To replace the fonts in WoW, download Malsumis Font Changer and follow the instructions, and use the Emblem font to replace WoW's default fonts. It's pretty easy.

Well if I'm to trust the official boards it's actually a legit blizzard email (in addition, the header shows that the mail came from blizzard servers) but still nothing in Battle.net, I made a post in the official boards for confirmation. Not getting my hopes too high thou

Can you post a picture of a window such a character, talents, or the spellbook? As far as not including any textures, I don't use any. My modified Skinner settings rely on nothing but colors / transparency settings.

I got it working, was me being an idiot xP, I didnt change profile xD!.

I decided to change my UI arround a bit. Going to change the Unit Frames to oUF Nivea, Move my Action Bars arround a bit as well as some other things.

post-280528-12845197154267.jpg

This is just what I did before the server shutdown.

Evn, what unit frames / dps meter are you using?

Unit frames are Stuf, I stripped it down to the most minimal configuration i could tolerate.

The Damage meter would be skada, I use it as a threat meter and almost always have the damage/healing meters unloaded. I like it for the threat, fails, and death modules.

Gratz on your orange weapon. I've started collecting shards on my DK, I might be the only person in the game that is getting one without actually wanting it.

Am I the only one sticking to default UI? It's not the classiest piece but it works, never breaks during updates and doesn't require a ton of work / maintenance. :)

The default UI is not very effective when it comes to communicating the information you need to know vs the stuff that is nice to know and the stuff that is completely

irrelevant. Just look at the buff frames: You probably don't care about 'chill of the throne' at all, and you can't really do anything about weakened soul. You probably care

a lot about debuffs like Legion Flame. The stock UI treats all of these debuffs as equally important and doesn't treat them any different from useless information like

the buff from deviate fish. Delaying your ability to respond to changes increases the chance your performance will negatively impact people around you.

The stock UI makes things like the ability to use Runestrike as important the cooldown on Icebound Fortitude or the ability to summon a ghoul.

You also need information about external events.

Is it safe to cast spells on Sindy hard-mode if you have 3 stacks of instability and you're 30 yards away from everyone? You need some way to know

the cooldown on her grip ability to know if you'll risk blowing-up the raid. The difference that knowledge can make is > 200k damage.

Knowing when your target is using (ie: shield wall) is useful for planning your cooldowns. You're probably not going to want to waste a blessing of protection

on a shadow priest with agro but has popped dispersion, you probably would want to use it on a rogue that has agro and hasn't vanished. A good set of raid

frames helps make sorting out this information much easier. You also need to know if you a boss is targeting you because you've pulled agro or if it's just using

a RSTS ability: the stock UI isn't very helpful here an waiting to find out isn't something you always have the ability to do.

Many fights require positioning yourself carefully: ie: running around on Saurfang is less than ideal. Being able to see how far away a mob is, and how quickly

it's moving out of range is useful for planning casts. If a mob is 30 yards away, at 20% health, and moving at standard running speed then you're not going to

want to cast a fireball at it because it'll be out of range before the cast completes. You'll proably scorch/fireblast instead. Even the best players have a hard time

guessing the difference between 25 yards and 30-yards in the middle of combat. A good unit frame will give you this information.

Knowing what you have threat on is more important than knowing that you have threat. On Lich King have I over DPS'd a raging spirit and it's going to

wipe the raid, or have I just got some healing agro on vile spirits and I can safely ignore the agro warning. You'll want a good multi-target and single-target

threat meter to manage your agro. I like Tidyplates + Skada for this but there are alternatives to suit any playstyle.

Even "simple" things are annoying with the default UI. "Hey check out this youtube video for how we should do <X>" is annoying without copy/paste.

May god have mercy on anybody trying to play a paladin in a raid without PalyPower, or any healing class without something like Grid. The default UI completely

inadequate for them.

Acutally, I know quite a few people that don't use Grid or Healbot for healing, and they are quite good at it. They use macros to extend the "basic" functionality of the standard UI.

I, myself, didn't use Pally Power for a while because I didn't want the clutter on my screen.

Was I able to function in a raid? Definitely.

Does it make it easier using PallyPower? yes, but I still am not too fond of the clutter.

The point is, the standard UI was put there for a reason. It is designed to give the basic information needed to do what you want. They gave it the option to be extended for a reason. If you want more information, simply install an addon that gives that information to you. But to say that it is completely useless is a stretch.

I'm sure you can do it, especially now that the game is a huge joke, but on any challenging content I think it's far less than optimal.

For a simple example: how does a group coordinate external cooldowns on your shambling horror tanks using stock raid frames?

I imagine you could do it on vent or with /s but the lag introduced means you could have say half-a-second where your tank has 2 enraged shambling and no cooldowns. Given that these mobs can one-shot a tank with full best-in-slot gear and the 30% ICC buff it's not good strategy to hope you get lucky.

Nobody said it was useless, but I have argued it's less than ideal. There is simply no substitute for information about the environment and the stock UI provides much less than what is made available by various addons. Prioritizing information is also very important and the stock UI offers almost no functionality to filter out 'noise' or to highlight 'signal' which makes decision making more error prone. The stock UI also presents useful information in ways that are difficult or impossible to interpret in combat.

I tried to offer examples where the stock UI is deficient and how addons can address those shortcomings and allow players to make more informed decisions (and hopefully perform better as a result).

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).
    • Microsoft Weekly: new Surface, Windows 11 26H2, and more by Taras Buria This week's news recap is here, with Microsoft announcing Windows 11 version 26H2, launching new Surface devices powered by Snapdragon X2 processors, GTA VI preorder date and cover art, fresh Windows 11 preview builds, a quirky phone-sized e-reader with a physical dial, and more. Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. Windows 11 version 26H2 is now official. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. Windows Insider Program Here is what Microsoft released for Windows Insiders this week: Builds Canary Channel Builds 28120.2315 and 29613.1000 These two builds include a new built-in audio driver, improvements to audio Settings, and more. Dev Channel Builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690 Not much is available here. Some File Explorer improvements, Start menu enhancements, bug fixes, and more. However, build 26300.8697 is now officially marked as version 26H2. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. In addition, the update improved the Windows Fonts folder, allowing you to preview each font without opening the default viewer. Rufus, another useful Windows 11 utility, also received a notable update. Version 4.15 arrived as beta with important fixes for silent Windows 11 installation. It also includes patches for ARM-based Windows PCs, OneDrive removal improvements, and more. Here are other updates and releases you may find interesting: Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations Microsoft will finally let you sign in to Edge with a Google account Here are the latest drivers and firmware updates released this week: NVIDIA 610.62 with support for Empulse and various fixes. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers. Those include EA Sports FC 26, Junkster, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Abyssus, RV There Yet?, and more. Some existing games are leaving the catalog, so be sure to check out the full list here. New games are also available for GeForce NOW subscribers, and they include Embers of the Uncrowned Demo, Aphelion, Megastore Simulator, OPERATOR, Citizen Sleeper, and more. Rockstart Games had plenty of GTA-related news this week. For one, the company gave GTA V players another free update. Those still playing the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are no longer required to pay $40 to upgrade to the latest-gen version. More importantly, Rockstar Games revealed the GTA VI cover art and announced the preorder date. The Epic Games Store is giving away two games: Citizen Sleeper and Roboeat. These two titles are up for grabs until next Thursday, but if they are not up to your taste, you can always check out the latest Weekend PC Game Deal issue, which is usually full of discounts and specials that let you save a lot of money on new games.
