I find it funny, when i began playing 5 years ago my first class was a hunter and i loved the hell out of controlling a pet. It may have been due to me being younger, but i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Now when i try to play warlock or hunter i find the pet more of a nuisance than a help. I think I'll be sticking with mage, considering a pet is pretty much a focus point of the hunter class.

my first class in wow was a warlock, and the pet was kind of fun. i had just come from l2 where the most op class in the game was alot like a warlock in wow, at least in theory. but by level 40 i just wasnt feeling it.

i don't mind the frost mage pet. it's pretty low maintenance and has a useful ability. sometimes it chases after players until it unsummons if i don't notice it. it seems to have this thing for breaking my sheeps as soon as i finish casting them. it's nice that it's no longer limited to 2 minutes at a time, but i hope they don't over complicate it in teh future to put it on the level of hunters and warlocks pets.

I laugh on the forums when people complain about not being able to name the mage pet, or that it is not as powerful as warlock/hunter pets. If they want a mage with a pet then play a warlock, don't ask for it to be as powerful as the pets from classes that are based around pets, that's just absurd.

Pre-4.03. You could do: /run PetRename("NAME HERE") in chat and it would let you rename the water elemental.

well in pvp depending on the spec warlocks and hunters are pretty strong even if they just let their pets run around willy nilly. the warlock pet spec seems pretty stong right now, the hunter pet specc seems gimpy but i remember in tbc it being a huge PITA to fight(red player, red pet, let the pet dps while the player went afk, dead frost mage)

but meh, i don't want the pet to play a bigger role on our play. it's jus tthere to add another control option when it's not following some random player half way across the bg and give our sustained dps a bit of a boost, since we rely on our big crits so much.

Frost mage pets do as much damage as hunter pets in PVE.

Top hunter DPS parse for Argaloth

Hunter DPS: 22,000, pet DPS: 2500, so a pet is about 11% of the hunter's damage

Top mage DPS parse for Argaloth

Mage DPS: 18,700 , pet DPS: 2400 so a mage pet is about 13% of the mage's damage.

If you drag out BM as an example (where pets do roughly 5,000 DPS in top parses making up 1/3 of the player's damage) I'll point out unholy DK pets that do upwards of 7500 DPS and make up an even larger percentage of the player's damage and do more damage in absolute terms too (because BM hunters are worthless right now and unholy DKs are overpowered).

As a portion of the player's damage a frost mage's pet is at least as important as a hunter's and the absolute difference between them is trivial. If "importance to your classes' primary role" is the criteria by which we allow players to name pets then I think mages have at least as much claim as MM and SV hunters do. Unholy DKs even more so.

Kill Command for BM is due to receive a buff in the near future so BM pet damage will be going up even more, do I see BM catching SV though... No. I feel the SV will get nerfed, it kinda needs to as I am topping DPS charts in just heroic gear with a few crafted items, other classes in similar gear levels do not even come close.

interesting i never realized our frost pet was that good. :p

got totally owned in arenas tonight. something like 7 loss and one win that was to a team that only one of them got in. pretty aggravating so we decided to give it a break until tomrrow.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1021053250?page=57 - thread full of people with connection issues, and majority of them are Time Warner.

****ty. The only thing that changed for me, was when I xsfer'd to a new server. Gained about 50-100ms added onto what I normally have. I just chalked that up to being on a server hosted in Phoenix. The max I seen my connection since Cata was released was 500ish and that's because I was downloading some HD, err, videos in the background. :p

I forgive the RNG.

Dropped best-in-slot (non-heroic) gloves which freed up my points to buy best-in-slot ring/cape in the morning. I decided to give up on 4 piece until we're getting heroic pieces; as long as Chog'all isn't

a jerk with the priest marks I'll be fully epic'd out tomorrow night.

Nice, I got tired of my stuff not dropping in normals. Im at 328 item level, so I can't queue for heroics yet. So I've been doing Archaeology, Im at 300 skill, and have gotten:

the Dino Minipet, and Dino Mount

the Mirror that creates a ghost of you, that always faces you

the "statue" the makes a big green pillar of light be around you for 10 seconds

Im hoping to get the trinket (the doll) the robes, and the staff.. but could be forever.

Archaeology isn't bad, I prefer it to doing instances with non-guildies I can do it at my own pace, and when I am flying from the top of Kalimdor to the Bottom for the sites, I can auto fly, and go make a sammich or go bio or whatever.

You know firey that reminds me... There used to be an addon that would auto fly you to a place. Basically you open your map and click on where you wanted to go and it would auto fly to that spot. Anyone know if that addon still exists? I know I love to go afk while flying to a place but sometimes you come back and you are 100 miles past were you wanted to go and have to spend just as much time flying back... :p

I think Carbonite might have that, or something similar, I will have to look when I get home, my only concern would be flying into an invisible wall, or into a mountain.

Finished off Bastion of Twilight a little while ago. It didn't look like we were going to get a third raid night that week so we stayed up late
(an extra hour, midnight, OMG!) and apparently got the kill. Nobody remembers it because we were so tired.

You can hear the nerd rage when people tell John to STFU at the start.

EDIT: He didn't drop priest shoulders last night so I hate the RNG again.

haha i should post a player made boss drop chart from aion to make you feel better about wow's rng evn.

RNG is RNG, there's no difference.

The only reason why Aion would seem worse is because they have (to my understanding) bigger loot tables. But RNG is still RNG.

RNG is RNG, there's no difference.

oh there's definitely a difference. and aion's loot tables are smaller.

aion had something like .00000000000001% chance of getting anything more than a common rarity item worth 10kiniah(about 10c in wow terms), and even lower for epic grade items, in dungeons that were 2 hours of speed trash runs for a boss with a script that was basically 10 minutes of normal tank and spank then blowing all your CDs at exactly the right time to avoid getting one shotted.

you could do hundreds of runs and never see an epic level drop. let alone one you could use.

patch notes for iaon would have line saying something like "drop rates have been greatly increased" player testing would show they were doubled, which means still incredibly low rates resulting in much the same results.

they increased dungeon boss drop rates on blue and epic items for 2 weeks to decent level where something like 2 blues and one epic were dropping per boss kill. then they nerfed it back to old levels. around the same time they released an article that supposedly proved drop rates were such and such, except there was no way they could've actually run any of the dungeons tested as many times as the test said in an actual retail server in the time period the drop rates were increased.

which is why i think if i posted a player made chart showing drop rates on dungeons with 18hour lockouts in aion it would make him feel better about not getting the item he wants in any particular run.

The only reason why Aion would seem worse is because they have (to my understanding) bigger loot tables. But RNG is still RNG.

Yeah, I'm not really bitching. According to wow progress I'm now the 200th best geared priest in the world so it's hard to complain too much. Of course wowprogress is dumb and doesn't realize that, for example, my epic bracer might be better than someone else's and their healm is better than mine despite being both epic and the same ilevel. it's all just item level dick-waving, but it's hard to seriously complain when you see that and then remember that 3 weeks ago we were all chasing green upgrades.

So close to being back in 'full epics' (and nearly full BIS non-heroic raid too). The big benefit to being done with normal mode is that I'd be able to sit out on "free-loot Tuesday". That'd mean I can pug in with friends outside of my guild and help them make some progress on bosses they're struggling with, then hop in for 'progression night' and do heroics with my guild later in the week.

getting at least one drop per boss is a lot less RNG than a 1 in a million chance at getting a drop from a boss. that's my point. it may be RNG which drop you get, but you have a reasonable chance at the piece you want dropping while in a static group with good activity within a reasonable amount of time, and chances are someone is going to get a drop, and if what drops can't be used by anyone it can be sold or disenchanted into something useful.

i'd say that's way better than an item that has a chance to socket a gear piece but takes about 60 of them on average to fill all 8 sockets of a epic piece. from a boss no less.

after this week's turnout we decided to move arans to sundays to acoomadate our work and hungover schedules

i'm at a terribly not bad point where i';m not sure what honour gear to grid so i'm playing other game. and i have like 6 other game to play or so. no tthat honour grinding hasn't been fun. playing mid on ctf maps has been a balst tbh, even if it's an example of not how to play wsg/tp.

    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Sonic Racing, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic Games store brought along two games from wildly different genres this week for PC gamers to claim. Robobeat is a rhythm-based action game that lets you become a bounty hunter that can wall run, slide, and bunny hop around his opponents. All you have to do is stick to the beat for the built-in or custom songs. Next, Citizen Sleeper is a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station. It uses tabletop RPG-inspired elements like dice rolls and timers to change up how players approach its activities, factions, and storylines. The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways end on June 25. On the same day, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought will become the next freebies. The bundle space expanded with two more collections from Humble this week too. The June 2unes bundle is up first, carrying plenty of rhythm games. This carries Kill the Music and Rhythm Witch in the $5 starting tier, followed by Trombone Champ, Spin Rhythm XD, and Thumper in the $7 tier. Paying at least $12 gets you the complete bundle, which adds on Kalpa: Cosmic Symphony, Everhood 2, NOISZ, and Sixtar Gate: StarTrail. The next bundle is for virtual reality fans. This carries Among Us 3D: VR and Zero Caliber VR for $10. The next tier brings in Tactical Assault VR, Ancient Dungeon, and Arizona Sunshine Remake for $15. VTOL VR, Zero Caliber 2 Remastered, Metro Awakening, and Thief VR land to finish things off for $18. Free Events It's a big week for free event fans, as Valve kicked off another one of its Next Fest events. This one carries thousands of gameplay slices from upcoming indie games The promotion is set to run until June 22. Standard free events are also ongoing this weekend. This includes the sci-fi grand strategy experience Stellaris from Paradox and the hit SEGA management game Two Point Museum. • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.
