[NFL] T.O. likely out for playoffs

Recommended Posts

If I remember what the Philadelphia Inquirer said last week, lets look back at the last 5 games:

T.O. - 2 TDs

Westbrook - 8 TDs

The Eagles were still winning even though T.O. was barely doing anything except make people double cover him.  Once again the Eagles are not a one man team and T.O. is not the entire offense.  If the Eagle's defense plays like they have been playing since they lost to the Steelers, the offense will find a way to win without T.O.

Yeah but like you said he was drawing so much attention that others are able to have success. Look at Brandon Stokely this year, you get Harrison getting all the attention and it leaves Stokely one on one all the time.

What starters?  They played for 2 minutes.  :shifty:

Starters as their WR's, or lack there of, offensive line, defensive line, etc. ;)

Though I agree their best player(s) are out, we're winning :woot:

They didn't have their Best defensive linemen in either. But it was more then that.. they looked like they didn't intend to win at all. The defense had some good hits though. It was a totally boring game.. worse one of the year, that I've seen.

Basically the Rams just played the Eagles practice squad we used in the last two games of preseason. The first string was taken out after one drive after McNabb scored and the remainder of the game was played by the second and third string backups. Some of the people playing I never even heard of before. So the Rams can basically thank the Eagles for throwing the game. I rather have the Rams in the playoffs anyway because they would be a lot easier to beat then some wildcard teams. The funny thing is the starting Rams were struggling against the second and third string Eagles until sometime during the third quater when they pulled away with the lead. I don't think they Jets are going to be so easy next week for the Rams as the Eagles were last night.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only significant change that the Eagles made between last year and this year is their acquisition of Terrell Owens. If they couldn't make it last year when they didn't have him, what makes everyone all of a sudden so sure that they can make it this year, again without him?

In my eyes, nothing's really changed from '03 to '04. I'm no football guru though, so if someone would like to chime in and tell me why I'm wrong, feel more than free to do so.

On defense Jevon Kearse, Jeremiah Trotter, and Dhani Jones has made a very big impact. Lito Shepard and Sheldon Brown are stepping up and taking the places of Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor. Well untill the throwaway game last night the Eagles had the least amount of points scored on defense. Even though they may not be ranked the #1 defense, a lot of people would argue otherwise.

On the offensive side Westbrook is healthy for the playoffs, which was a huge factor for last year's playoffs since the Eagles did not have him. And watching Levins in the first set of downs last night it seems like he still has it in him, much like the Bus on Pittsburgh has when he had to step up. Also Freddie Mitchell, our #1 draft pick from a few years back, has a big chip on his shoulder and has a lot to prove since he has not had much playing time and that T.O. has been stealing his spotlight. Everyone saw what he did last night and the potential he has.

Plus this year the Eagles have a team of 9 pro-bowlers, which also helps.

They've got 9 pro bowlers, but 6 of them are defensive. Donovan, T.O., and David Akers (kicker) are the offensive ones. Westbrook is a threat from several positions though, this is true.

At this point, pretty much everyone's opinion is predicated on whether they think T.O. is what put them over the top this year. I think it is, but there also isn't anyone else from the NFC who could make it.

They'll probably go, but I don't think they'll win.

I would rather have a better defense then offense anyday. If the defense can keep the opposition in check I am sure the offense can find a way to win.
If I was Philly I wouldn't take the Falcons lightly. They are the only real threat to them IMHO.

Well both Atlanta and Philadelphia are going to have to win their first games before it comes to that. I am actually more scared about the Panthers then any other team in the NFC. It's like they are peaking at the right time.

Absolutely... it's freaky what they've been doing since they had that awful start.

Michael Vick's always a threat, but who does he have as a passing threat? His favorite target is Alge Crumpler, and his numbers are... moderate.

Very good point! I agree with that. And they are getting a lot of injuried players back at the same time.. could get interesting.

Am I the only one who thinks Carolina will make it to the Superbowl again?

Not at all, I just forgot to include them.. my mistake. They have a real shot at doing it... like jmole said, they are peeking at the right time.

  • 4 weeks later...
Looks like the Eagles make it to the super bowl without T.O.! :D

What T.O. is not the whole team?! Holy poo, who would have known. The Eagles got to the NFC championship three years and a row and suddenly T.O. was the whole team when he went down.

    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
