Dell 2405FPW UltraSharp Flat Panel Monitor

Recommended Posts

I don't have a camera with me at work. I darkened my office as best I could, but it wasn't 100% dark, but as far as I can tell there is no noticable light bleed. As I said my office couldn't get 100% dark, so there was some refelction, but compared to monitors with obvious bleed, there was none apparent, just and overall even very faint screen glow at a dos prompt. In windows blacks look blacker than the 243T. The 2D picture quality is quite stunning. If you grab a window and shake it around you get some minor ghosting, but again less than the 243T or other 25ms monitors. Not bad at all really. Distinctly brighter and more vivid picture than other large high end LCD monitors I have used lately.

Alos seems like zero stuck pixels but I'm still searching.

I also have the Samsung 243T and you do notice the improved contrast right away. I can't exactly game here at work or watch DVD's, so that will have to wait. Sorry no pics, but you have all see what the monitor looks like earlier in the thread. The base is nicer than the 243T in my opinion.., but it seems that the ceter top tilt position of the monitor looks ever so slightly off level. no biggie.

Can you tell us what the hte coupon is?

Thanks!

I think he meant the coupon not hte. And it was the 75 off I guess....

I'm typing this on my new monitor (?????) :D

Clear as a bell, massive display area, and as far as I can see, not a dead pixel in sight - oh and can't see any bleeding either.

Would have posted earlier but TNT didn't deliver until 5pm - Grrrr.!! and I had stuff to do this evening.

Well packed, solid stand.

Noticed on the label on the box that it was a revision A01. Wonder what they changed? Possibly to a later versin Samsung panel from reading the conflicting bits of info regarding the 2405FPW.

Menus fairly easy to get on with - I put up with Iiyamas for years ;)

Ghosting, I hear you ask. Well yes and no.

My GF4600 running at 1920x1200 DVI and supporting a 1280x1024 monitor off the other DVI output seems to tax the card and cause some ghosting. Virtual Pool is great for testing LCD response.

I reverted the card to a spanview (1 desktop over 2 monitors and response picked up (running the 1920x1200 panel as a 1280x1024.

It also lags slightly when opening the "Start" menu which also points to the graphics card running a little short of breath.

Haven't even tested the "Advanced features of the monitor yet. Should be interesting.

Worth the money? (?862 delivered 3yr replacement warranty in UK).

:yes:: :yes:: :yes::

Tony.

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
    • Hello, Hope all is well. I am in UK.
    • I'm not happy with myself for it, but I've gone and got hold of it. Just another 45 minutes and I'll be Bond, James Bond. In my defence, IO's Hitman series is awesome, and I'm a sucker for 007. So while it might seem a bit simplified compared to Hitman, I'm sure I'll be right at home.
    • Or just check the script yourself ^^. I hate having a Microsoft account tied to my windows install.
