Dell 2405FPW UltraSharp Flat Panel Monitor

I'd like to add. Screen arrived!!! 7.50AM this morning, after ordering Monday afternoon. Absolutely fantastic, this thing is mammoth!!! :D

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed as there aren't any dead pixels yet. Also, the backlight seems completely uniform. Only problem is I have a slight slant: the screen sags to the right a bit. Must be a stand issue: reckon it can be fixed easily.

10/10. Mikebuzz is da bomb! I'll wing yet another tenner you way as soon as my credit card bill clears mate! :)

Thats great news, my two are going to be arriving tomorrow and I cant wait. If only I could stop drooling at the thought.

Actually, I hope an X800 can run two 1920x1200 behemoths?!?!

Just to add my support for Mike, my monitor should be here tomorrow [thursday]

Got my shipping confirmation last night.

Cheers Mike and your 30 quid was sent your bank account as discussed.

i cant wait to order one for me :)

Here's a couple of pics. Have taken one with my shuttle next to it and the other next to a 17" tft. Also, I've thrown a cd into the pic to get an idea of how ENORMOUS this thing is. Please excuse the *ahem* pink wallpaper: I'm set up in my lil sis' room atm (don't ask).

G'mornin' chaps

My one arrived a Liverpool docks at 6AM today; most probably get it tomorrow.

Salivating also :)

Check this out: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=879544

My system specs are:

AMD 3200 Whinchester

Asus AV8 Mobo (AGP)

Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

Dell 2001FP tft

250 Maxtor SATA HD

1Gig PC4000 Crucial Ballistix Ram

CDROM and DVDROM burners

Various flight sim hardware all running on Win XP Pro.

My 9800 Pro is taxed running my flight sims at 1600x1200, and making the higher native res jump to 1920x1200 on the Dell 24", will tax it even further. ANy recomendations on a good graphics card/which way I should go?

I was thinking of a GT 6800 card; there's lots of talk about PCI boards and cards, but from what I have read there does not seem to be a big improvment in performance and sticking with AGP would save me the cost of a new PCI mobo...What do you HArdware dones think?

Thanks

looks nice, and maby a bit on the expencive side....only thing i dont think looks to good is the stand, it just seems a little elongated

How do you mean by "elongated"? You know the monitor can be raised and lowered. If you lower it to its lowest setting, it practically touches the base.

EDIT: do you mean length-ways?

Just a quick post to say thanks to Mike for getting this all sorted out.

I just missed out on the 2 for 1 deal, but I'm more than happy with the price for a single monitor so went ahead with that instead.

The Dell sales contact seemed a bit swamped yesterday but she did e-mail me before the end of the day and her assistant has got my order confirmed and into the system this morning so everything is looking good :)

I added to Mike's PayPal account up front as a gesture of faith and shame on anyone that doesn't chip in at least something by the time they get their monitors as Mike deserves credit for getting this deal out into the open.

    • Thank god they got rid of the disgusting looking sidebars, and the corner radius looks much better, too. Two things I hated on day one, and never got used to.
    • JetBrains launches Rider 2026.2 EAP 5, bringing several AI improvements by David Uzondu JetBrains has released the fifth EAP version of Rider 2026.2, bringing a faster startup flow with the new non-modal startup screen and quality-check hooks for Claude Code and Codex. In the latest EAP release, Rider now has newly bundled "quality-check" hooks that run background tests on code edits before the external agent proceeds. For example, after Claude Code rewrites a class, Rider immediately triggers a PostToolUse hook that analyzes the code for syntax errors and formatting warnings. It then passes those findings back to the model as feedback, allowing the agent to fix its own output before finalizing the task. If Rider detects compilation errors, the IDE prevents the agent from treating the task as complete, while minor formatting warnings simply help guide the model toward better output. The "Explain with AI" feature can now tackle tricky build errors directly from the console, helping .NET developers who frequently wrestle with multi-targeting failures and MSBuild errors. JetBrains introduced Explain with AI back in the 2024.1 release cycle. With this feature, instead of forcing developers to copy long diagnostics into a separate chat window, Rider now lets you trigger these explanations directly from the error source. In similar EAP news, JetBrains recently opened the first EAP for IntelliJ IDEA 2026.2, with features that appeal to both those who are into AI-assisted coding and those who prefer "classic" manual development. For manual developers, the release adds revamped dependency completion for Maven and Gradle build scripts, which pulls data directly from the local cache to suggest relevant versions. It also brings the Spring Debugger update, displaying security indicators next to endpoints to visualize secured routes during runtime. In addition to database migration tools for Flyway and Liquibase, this build introduces a Hibernate debugger that shows the exact SQL or HQL queries that the framework plans to execute, letting developers jump directly to the Java code that triggered them.
