i agree that the ui looks dated, i'd either go for a simplistic approach or a full on graphical one,

or both, one to fit windows XP and one to fit windows classic.

the tabs seem wrong as they arent done properly (from the way i see them in the pic), take a leaf out of a tabbed browser's book when it comes to these.

I am not a skinner, and I have no skinners. My team consists of 2 beta testers and myself. Though thank you for your opinions. :)

You have to remember, the original nexus coder didn?t leave me with anything, not even a skin to work with. Only the rights to call the project Nexus still. If you noticed the skin is from segmented parts of screenshots. I need a skinner and I was under the impression GHL was producing a skin for Nexus if he had time; though I have had no PM to this day or evidence of it. Though I can understand he probably is busy. Can you confirm this GHL ?

a noob question. is it possible for me to install this app on my portable drive and run it somewhere else without reference to the main computer? eg. i install in on my port.drive but i dont want it to appear on my add/remove contents?

It would be possible, though you would need to register the required modules. This will then allow you to execute the Nexus binary. If your trying to run nexus messenger in a place you shouldnt be running it, then its likely the Network Admin will NOT allow registering of DLL files rendering these instructions useless. [if he/she has half a brain cell].

[Manual Installation Instructions]

Install the app on your machine first. Then copy the directory;

%programfiles%\Nexus Messenger 2

Then you would need to paste this into notepad and save it as a Setup.bat and Remove.bat file. Place these files in the COPIED Nexus's root directory.

[setup.bat; DO NOT COPY THIS LINE]

@echo off

echo. Registering Required Runtimes

regsvr32 /s Modules\MSN.dll

regsvr32 /s Modules\sckSSL.dll

regsvr32 /s Modules\vbSock.dll

echo. Done.

pause

[Remove.bat; DO NOT COPY THIS LINE]

@echo off

echo. Unregistering Required Runtimes

regsvr32 /u /s Modules\MSN.dll

regsvr32 /u /s Modules\sckSSL.dll

regsvr32 /u /s Modules\vbSock.dll

echo. Done.

pause

Your directory tree for your copied nexus directory SHOULD look like this.

-+Nexus Messenger 2

----Setup.bat

----Remove.bat

----prjNexus20.exe

---+Modules

-------- etc

I hope this helps.

Nexus 1209b Download

-Special Character Support

-No Display Picture Support

Build 1210 has been removed for now. This is because it leaked memory for display pictures. Though it wouldnt be fair to leave you without a nexus build, so ive made this special build; 1209b.

Expect 1212 to be the next build, hopefully it wont cause as much problems as 1210 did. ;) .

I offer to be a skinner :)

Me and GHL could probably come up with something together.

What does everyone else think ?

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
    • CPPC states can also be messed around with in most UEFI settings but aren't as robust as the ones that the Windows Scheduler can provide! Make sure you look into what your motherboard also has before customizing for the Windows Scheduler.
    • My issue is I can't access the forum on mobile if the site is set to Desktop mode on Vivaldi because it can't complete the Cloud flare am I a bot check! I know this is a Vivaldi issues as it has started happening on all cloud flare check sites, it's so annoying, I've reported it but no fix yet.
