Nexus is composed of about 30 modules which are very large in size and that ive hand written so im probably to blame here, and the VB IDE keeps failing me.... Compiling it often causes the IDE to close without an error and many other strange things. Thats probably because of the API ive used that should be compiled to run, not testing inside an IDE.

One theory is the spec of the machines, i run a 2800+ AMD with a gig of ram. Ive only tested Nexus on P4 equivalent machines with at least 512 MB of ram and Windows XP SP2. Ive had none of the errors found on this form. Though not everyone will have that kinda spec pc i understand. What i think i need to do to fix this problem, is to somehow find a way to make Nexus use less resources... then it may work. Its eating a good 30mb of ram on my machine right now...

Did any of my previous versions of Nexus work for the people with 'System Error' ?

Looking good. When you have the time.... after all the bugs are fixed....how about a system tray icon. I understand you're busy...but at the moment this is the only thing thats stopping me using it...

Anyway keep up wit the hard work been watchin this project from the start...ever since they guys had that massive arguement etc... anyway glad uve taken over it and got it moving... your doing a swell job!

Wooo... I forgot to visit this thread once in a while and I missed so much. I've downloaded the latest version and I've been reading the last 4 o5 pages of this topic and I have something to say about it. It's looking great but I have some suggestions and some questions to make.

1) Is this the only public place where the developer and such discuss nexus? As I recall it there where some kind of site and forum, is that still alive? Is the site updated or will be continued?

2) I know that the original coder let you keep the name nexus, but why do you call it nexus 2? Will you release it as nexus 2 in the final build of this "first new version"? In my opinion, you shouldn't be calling nexus 2 just because the main coder is a different person. It should still be called Nexus Messenger and Nexus Messenger 2 should be a different version in the future. That's what I think. I think you should keep calling just Nexus Messenger or change the name and come up with a different logo or keep the logo and just change the name. I don't know, it's up to you, just making some suggestions.

3) I think you should point out in the setup files that this is a beta version and the build number should also be included in the title or somwhere. For me, this versions you keep releasing looks like they should have been only for internal development, beta testing and not for releasing. Going through the installer and after the installation is complete, it looks like this is a final build to be used on a day-to-day basis, wich it ain't and we'all know that because we are following the project on this forum but some people ain't.

4) I don't what are you going to answer to 1) but also this topic is getting quite big to discuss everything related to this project if it's ever going to be continued till a final a release. But, have you ever considered in using something like Flyspray? It's a bug tracking system for those who don't know, like BugZilla! but imo this one is better. And you can create tasks categories and use it a simple forum... just a thought.

5) I have some other suggestions but as these are related to the layout and designing and since the actual design isn't going to be the default and final one, I won't say anything just yet.

I think that's it for now...

Nexus development DOES have an official website but it's up to Lee to decide if he wants to use it or not (I provided the webspace for him).

As for forums, the old ones were gone. I can see about setting up new ones as soon as I can afford webhosting.

I know of a place to get free forum hosting for Invision Board and PHPBB

Invision Board:

http://hosted.bizhat.com/

PHPBB:

http://www.netfreehost.com/phpbb/

I also know of a good FREE web host with lots of space and bandwidth

1GB of space

100GB of bandwidth

www.atgig.com

I don't get it Cryptic_Night, you said that you provided webspace but then you're saying tht you need to affroad webhosting for forums?

Yeah, forums would be nice, but I still think that a flyspray would be a good idea too, to keep track of bugs and ideas at least, there are so many options you can set to each task, take a look at the features here: http://flyspray.rocks.cc/features

btw, free hosted scripts sucks... no hard feelings though robert27 ;)

lots of adds and you don't actually have full control over the script. but there is webspace and a domain for nexus why use hoste scripts and not install a script in the server?

did nexus's original webmaster turn over all the passwords and stuff for nexus's orginal webspace and domain?

The original nexus team or the one man as he liked to say he did everything, left my team with Null. Well the right to call it "Nexus" still. He said he was going to send the gfx over to me, but that was months ago and he vigorously closes convoy?s on me when i try to communicate with him. I was able to slice lots of screenshots up, however, and some very nice nexus fans have been posted some very sweet skins. I am grateful for all their effort and their support. When i get time i will make Nexus sinkable and include their skins. Cryptic_Night is my 'everything related to the web' guy; I am interested in this "BugZilla" idea:whistle:e: . If you need funding from me, let me know Cryptic_Night, ive done a few comp programs for a few companies and sold them very recentl;);) . I have also been thinking about what else Nazgulled has stated. Yes i will start stating very clearly on installers that this is still an experimental messenger that may or may not reflect on the final product.

Btw, at the moment all i have been working on is bugs and optimization. I spent all weekend on them and i have some good news:):) .

-- Nexus is called "Nexus Messenger" in grouped XP windows instead of "prjNexus20.exe".

-- Nexus now in general uses less CPU time to do things such as Contacts going offline and online did cause heavy CPU usage for a small amount of time.

-- Display Pictures download themselves on the list now. (Instead of waiting for a convo to be opened)

-- Cached Display pictures will be loaded up on start-up instead of ignored.

-- There is no more temp freezing on lower spec pc's anymore.

-- Failed DP's will now be downloaded again.

-- Weird scrollbar being misaligned at start-up.

-- I?ve cleared up the functions a bit to give a better performance hopefully as well.

-- The URL Encoded nicknames in the Convo tabs i thought i got rid of, that seems to have come back.

-- Finally a System tray icon.

Special thanks to Tim Rogers and Cryptic_Night for finding these.

PS: I don?t know if this will affect that silly system error module not found that a few people have been getting. Though i hope it does make that go :)ay :) .

Hey! I have been following your project for awhile now. So far I think it's great! I love the whole concept of it. The GUI is great too. I hope you will keep on working on it. This will be a successful project. Anyways, good luck and keep sending them betas!

did nexus's original webmaster turn over all the passwords and stuff for nexus's orginal webspace and domain?

guess not, but I didn't know that... but maybe if we get this into a bigger team, a bigger project, someone can work something out.

P.S sry for going off topic but Nazgulled: what did you think of FeedMonster

I'll reply on your topic :p

@LeeC1987

you say you are going to include their skins but what about the default skin? is it going to be the current one or someone (who?) will make a new one? and the logo, will still be the same?

another thing, don't use bugzilla!, use flyspray isntead, it's so much better :p

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) using their respective DNS servers and both trigger the dialog above.
