I don't get it Cryptic_Night, you said that you provided webspace but then you're saying tht you need to affroad webhosting for forums?

Yeah, forums would be nice, but I still think that a flyspray would be a good idea too, to keep track of bugs and ideas at least, there are so many options you can set to each task, take a look at the features here: http://flyspray.rocks.cc/features

btw, free hosted scripts sucks... no hard feelings though robert27 ;)

I have a site set up for him which he has to choose whether or not he wishes to use it. The reason why I said the forums could be set up when I purchase more is because I'm going to be purchasing more webspace from a friend of mine anyways and some more bandwidth so with forums, I don't go over my bandwidth limit.

Anyways, I'm testing the new version today. So let's hope we can clean out more bugs (and maybe fix those errors).

By the way...

I tried to download and register all the dlls that nexus use because I'm trying to kill the awful &H8007007E (-2147024770) trouble I have when I run nexus.

I had no luck.. :( it's always poping up. :|

even trying almost all the possibilities that google showed me. :|

I'll keep looking for a solution. :)

Gelob: Do you mean the program or the site? I never controlled the original site, forums or mirror page. I did have a mirror page for Nexus and LSNMessenger back in the day. But not really today.

If you want to mirror the program, contact Tim. If you want to mirror the official webpage, I'm not sure how you would but you can contact me.

nice design, but one thing that bothers me is the crosshair cursor...could that just be a default cursor? imo the crosshair doesn't look as professional.

Also, I am willing to mirror any files on my webhost because I have 80GB of bandwidth and i've never even used 500mb in one month. So if you need any space or w/e, pm me.

I can't wait to see this project get going and off the ground and hopefully it will become a great program! (Y)

I have just as much banwidth and am also willing to mirror if you want me to.

I also could not agree more with what jtchange said earlier.

First off, nice nexus blog, simple but cool and atractive design and I also agree with the crosshair thing, it's annoying.

Secondly, I think that if this is really going to be a big project you should concentrate the whole things in one package. I mean, you now have that development blog at one address and the mirrors site in a different address. I think they should be on the same address. I know that it's different people working on both things but as I recall it, you'r both beta testers, you are both on the development team... so, I think you can work something out. And if you can't get acess to the purchased domain for nexus, why don't you buy a new one? I mean, they are so cheap, this is the cheapest site I ever found, I bought mine there: www . domlandia . com

Last but no the least:

http://commoncold.digital-pulse.net/nexus/?page_id=5[/url]']Today, Nexus development is a daily event as well as Nova development. From what started off as GMessenger vs. LSNMessenger, it has developed into Nexus vs. Nova in a friendly fight for the top.

I think this is just plain stupid and wrong. You should all get together and make only one messenger. There's already lots of messengers, we don't need more two, we need only one really good. Like this, we need to choose wich one to support or support both but that is too much, at least for me. That's just my opinion though, you should join forces.

Will fix. It was a pre-made theme that I thought would look nice. I'll fix it up tomorrow or tonight if I have time

It's a good idea which I will talk to Tim about if I ever see him online

I will be buying a domain address soon. First I have to pay off my credit card bill thought which is currently at $521 out of $600. Saving for school and paying off this bill is tough as it is. But I should have a domain + more webspace withen about 2 weeks or so.

I say competition in a loose sense. That's why I added friendly in front of it. In all my beta testing and conversations with Lee, he has NEVER talked about Nova and I'm sure during Nova's development, same with the Nexus side. So it is friendly competition in a sense. Neither group is trying to be the "best" in their product. It's like Gaim vs. Miranda. They have similar products which do similar things but they arien't competitive with each other. It's friendly. If you still find it "stupid and wrong" I can change it.

EDIT: after re-reading what you said, are you stating that it's stupid and wrong to have two messengers? Or what I wrote?

EDIT2: Fixed the cursor. Anything else?

Exactly. I know it is friendly, I know you ar enot fighting each other out to see wich one is bets and wich one produces a better messenger client. I know that. But exactly like you said on the edit, I think it's stupid here at neowin, 2 groups of members developing 2 messengers. You should all be developing just one.

Like ZogoChieftan stated, he only started nova messenger because he thought nexus was dead, and it was for a period of time till LeeC1987 got the original code from DayleRees. But he didn't know that that was going to happen. I just think you should develop together, if all of you got the skills for it, why not join forces?

Probably the fact that nexus is programmed in vb6 and nova is in c# doesn't really help :( but alternatively it'd be awesome to have MSNP11 in Nova... Lee, do you have any documentation that you use for MSNP11 that we could possibly use ? Nazgulled your right tho regardless of programming barrier maybe we should work in correlation?

You know what? Let's have a vote. Blax, if you want to make a banner, go right ahead. The reason I chose the one we have now is because I find the colours look nice together. I'm not sure if the blue would fit right with the site. I'll try it out tonight when I get home from work and see if it goes.

That would be great. :)

maybe you can make a web design contest too... jejeje.. :) if you want... :p jejeje.. :)

Nexus development is probably continuing in VB6 because it started off that way. Perhaps LeeC1987 knows how to code too in C# and you giys could work something out and convert it as I believe C# is much better and I supposed your nova cliente is being coded in .NET and that is even better.

I don't know, I'm just making assunmptions, I don't know wich languages do you and LeeC1987 code in.

Anyway, my personal opinion is that VB6 is becoming even more obsolete these days and visual studio 2005 is coming out this year so... I already swaped some months ago from VB6 to VB.NET. The code should at least be in VB.NET and not in VB6. But this is another story, and it's up to LeeC1987. If he knows VB.NET I think he should convert it at lest, I don't mind wait more for that converstion but of course, C# and both you guys together, would be even better.

Do you mean the DLL ? Or general MSNP11 docs ? the way i learnt MSNP11 was using a packet sniffer. My knowledge or information may or may or not be correct. I haven?t documented it though im afraid. Though if you have a general question about something specific, I will try and answer it for you. I can tell you its the same as MSNP10 except some parameters have definite letters and you should expect to parse XML data in some packets for PMs. MSNP10 is pretty much like MSNP9 and MSNP8 too.

.NET has a lovely set of libraries that will help you along the way, such as UTF-8, HTTPS, XML etc; .COM Development has no such libraries, or do but thats no the idea of why i program. I had fun writing those libraries though:):) . That?s one of the reasons I avoid .NET. I like ?re-inventing the wheel for :pn? :p . UTF in VB6 was very fun. Imagine 2 routes, to the same destination, one being longer then the other. Im the sort of person to knowingly take the longest route.

My favourite language is C++. Though i had already started Nexus in VB6, and i had hand written lots of usefull functions in VB for general MSNP parameter minipulation over the development of previous Messenger clients. C# is great though, i love its concept of the Classes. Polymorphic classe:laugh:  .

    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
    • Oddly, there was a time that UFC games were culturally relevant, largely because of the graphics and gameplay that was different than the norm. But it seems like as the sport grew in popularity, gaming outlets stopped talking about the games.
