An Awsome Honda

and 150lbs wont make up for 17hp and 22tq thwn the civic still has to wait longer to make that power

'04 S2000 registered 0.89 g  <---my damn escort can get a .93 wtf and a SVT focus will get a .89

handle my ASS

the 99 Si will rev to 8,000 but will still lose to a Escort ZX2 S/R that only reves to 6500, high rpm doesnt mean much. honda just tries to make up for tq.

150 pounds will definitely make up for 17 horsepower. It'll only be like 10 hp to the wheels.

You seem to rate everything by the specs. Skidpad basically measures how well the tires grip. S2000 has a slalom speed of 71miles while the STI has 73 and Evo8 70.7. And you can't doubt that the STI or Evo's are awesome at handling. You think your escort can handle better than a S2000?

High RPM means you can keep pulling while the other car has to shift. I think Hondas are well designed. It's amazing how much power they can pull out from such a small engine.

its 17hp and 22 tq hP isnt eveything if it was then why would a 99 zx2 s/r have 17less hp then a 99 Si? about 32tq thats y

higher exit speed then a c5 vette, guess vettes dont handle well?

ok so um why doesnt the 99-00 or 02+ Si have a better 0-60 then a zx2? car w/ 30hp less and has to shift shft at about 5800? they both run 7.2

It's called gearing the zx2 can hold 2nd gear till 60mph, the Si has to shift to 3rd

and for the record the 127hp Civic EX is concidered a joke to both the 130hp focus and the 130hp Escort why? because the fords have tq

I think what most people are thrown off is you are comparing a Honda to a BMW or a Mercedes. They are in two different classes. I would say the Legend was probably the high end car of the Honda series back in 91, wouldn't you? Well why not compare the Legend to the top end BMW of 91? You think the legend would top that car? Now I know you gonna come out with the "price" argument but that just proves my point. You Cannot compare two different classes of car to one another and expect to get a fair response.

It is like comparing a Honda Civic (Honda's Low end Car) to a BMW 3 series. It just doesn't work. It all comes down to a persons preference. You like your Legend and that is fine but personally I think it is ugly and that is my preference.

I also don't understand where you are getting these figures about the reliability of BMW's. I have a 1995 BMW M3 with 180,000 miles. You could tell it was getting tired but it ran great. I got it with 90,000 and at that point car was beat to hell. All four rims were bent, the suspension had been tweaked, the flywheel was shot, the clutch was burnt to hell and it looked like the fluids hadn't ever been changed (not sure about the oil). Even after all that abuse she lasted for almost another 100,000 miles until my brother decided to shift from 5th to 3rd doing 85mph down the interstate.

Not sure what you're saying on the first sentence. Well, obviously the escort has a higher exit speed since it's so much lighter. I never said higher RPM was for 0-60, I'm talking about real track, not drag. Obviously, bigger displacement means more torque. And the focus and the ZX2 are more performance oriented than the Civic, and will probably be considered a little better than the Civic stock. Civics are not meant to be track cars stock. They're made as cheap, economic cars to get you from point A to point B with little amount of fuel or trouble. Focus or the ZX2 are just a bit more sporty and IMO do not have the same target as the Civic. But, I still think it is a very close race and will depend on the driver. Similar skill drivers in both cars will probably have similar results.

I know pretty much nothing about Fords tho, so I'm not sure. Seriously tho, I don't think Hondas are junk. Different cars from Honda have different purposes for different people. THey are made to fulfill that. I believe a Honda S2000 will beat a similarly priced Mustang in a real track (not talking about 0-60 or 1/4). I just don't see why you say Hondas are junk. I think they have great engineering and technology. I don't like domestics but that doesn't mean they're junk.

the S/R and svt focus both make more tq then the new 2.0 Civic Si. and i compaired the (1999)13k ZX2 to the (1999)17k Si, you cant say the Si isnt aimed performance.

so you basicly said that its ok for a (2002)13k car that Ford itself didnt even support to be on the same performance level as a (2002)19k sport compact? The Si wasnt designed with the same objectives as the EX or LX trims.

Ah, well first of all, I haven't driven either cars so I'm just saying all this from info I read. But I think that the Si is much more capable than the escort. Close ratio transmission to make it a better track car, stiffer suspension, tighter cornering ability, and all that crap. The SVT Focus and the Si are competing against each other, so they are very likely. I think they have the same acceleration (SVT may be barely faster, but again - driver's race IMO) and similar handling abilities. I've heard that the Honda has a smoother transmission and engine tho. They're both worthy competitors and very similar in performance and reliability. I think they're both great cars. However, I think the escort just has the same engine/speed as the Focus. It's probably not as refined, comfortable, reliable as the SVT or Si. If I was looking for a cheap car tho, I'd probably go for the Civic just because of their heritage and well-known reliability vs. the escort.

the SVT and ZX2 S/R will beat a 02+ Si in both autoX and drag the lower powered ZX3 base model will also beat the Si in drag and only lose by a narrow margin in autoX

1/4 specs(assuming a good driver)

Focus ZX3 - 16.0 - $14,000

Escort ZX2 - 15.7 - $13,000 (fastest car under 20k till the 99 Si was released)

02+ Si 15.7 - $19,000

SVT Focus - 15.3 - $18,000

99-00 Si - 15.4 - $18,000

ZX2 S/R - 15.4 - $17,000 (was released in 99 and 00 but never tested for official numbers as it was a VERY limited run)

for the record i have seen more Si owners screw up their cars then ZX2 owners

Bottom line here mate,

Your Honda is nice, Personally I hate it to hell cos you've got all many of parts on it, that don't look stock and it's fugly racer mobil to me, it's an executive car, treat it like one. + those rims sux0r.

don't compare it to a BMW or a Merc, and tbh a car from back in the 90's had roughly the same spec in that "type" of car.

price aside, I wouldn't want it, Jap cars are renowned for the amount of plastic on the interior, there artifical carperts, no whool, or cotton here, and fake wood surrounds.

it's your car and fair enough you like it, but don't expect to come on here, and everyone to big you up. Even if you had a Nissan Skyline R34, there would still be people saying they'd prefer a Dodge Viper. I have a BMW 318iS I love it, but I know people won't say sweet car...

if I were you i'd stop trying to seek peoples approval, and just get out there and drive?

sorry for being harsh, if i am but seriously, there are better cars out there, and probably better performance, live with it.

I think that's a pretty sweet car. I would give it a 7.5/10. But then again, any car that isn't European doesn't score higher than a 2 in my book. I love BMWs, the E36 was very nice for its day even though I do like the E46 better and I am looking forward to seeing an E90 in person so I can draw my conclusion, I'm not good at judging cars by pictures.

Like any other form of art, car designs are completely subjective. I, for one, will never understand why some people absolutely drool over the *aesthetics* (performance notwithstanding) of cars such as the Impreza WRX, Lancer Evo, Sklyine..etc. They all seem dull, cheap, and even tacky as far as I'm concerned, yet people flock to them. I always thought that a high performance car should look, well, high performance - not share the same body platform as a grocery fetcher. Ultimately, though, it is to each his own.

well i know i've been known for honda bashing (see my previous posts) but if i were given a choice between the SVT focus or the Civic Si, i'd take the civic. Yes, i've test driven both, and yes i do drive a focus as my daily driver but when i test drove the civic it did feel more comfortable than the focus and it wasn't as rough (my 2.0L Zetec engine has a very rough idle). The only thing i could never get used to is the console mounted shifter. Its just awkward. I hope they fix that in the new Si. As much as I love my car I admit it has many problems (i.e. my suspension just decided to 'go' on me the other day, as well as my wheel bearings). I love how my focus beats little ricers with their DX and EX civics who think their cars are super super fast with their dual exhausts and 10" high spoilers.

I mean... i've said some really stupid things in this thread, and i stand corrected on those. I shouldn't say i hate hondas in general... i just hate ricers with a passion. Anyways, i was given the ability to drive a legend coupe in a stick the other day. I was needless to say, quite impressed, so i must say to the thread starter you have a nice car.

edit: BMW's are sweet cars but... in my town they're so over abundant. Almost everyone has one so they're kinda eyesores now. It is fun however to see the occasional M3 driving around (theres this really nice bright green one which has an air ride suspension).

how about that the 318 is slow as crap, its as big as a joke as the Benz C230 Kompressor. May carry a nice name but both lose to 13k cars in the performance area.

For the idle of the Zetec just put on FordRacing wires, and a coil and it disapears. just plugwires on my Zx2 made a very noticable difference.

do you have a regular Foci or a SVT?

See, there's more to the mercedes and the bimmer than performance. If you don't realize that, you've never driven one. I'll be the first to admit they don't have the engine power cheaper cars have, but they're more expensive for the build quality, the independant suspension, materials for the inside, paint, etc.

my friend has a c230 Kompressor, i thought it was a total POS it handeled for **** and i could take it in a line w/o any problem with a stock escort. It wasnt even comfortable.

1/2 the damn car said "daimler chrysler" on it

regular zx3

regular zx3

teh SVT has a pcm usprade that should smooth the idle out more.

but on a regular zx3 get a scream'n damon coil and ZX2 FR plug wires it makes a huge diff.

(you need zx2 wires cuz the coil is made for the zx2 but sold for the zx3 and has different terminal connectors)

First off the Bmw's r wayyyy too popular and has nothing "special" to it. My car is mostly stock exepct for some cosmetic things like rims ect... I havent touched the engine yet... and seriously take a look at the merc's and bmw's from 1990's they arnt that sophisticated or refined and needed constant servicing to keep em running. Even if i did not own this car i would have still posted it here simply because its a unique car from its era!

I'd Agree with you if you called this BMW "cool" but every thing else looks so mundane and boring!

    • If it ain't broke, don't fix it. One Commander Free also available in the Store has been my goto Files Manager for years. It does what I need at a more than reasonable speed. I do occasionally use Files Explorer just because it is there and does what I need without any problems when I use it.

He was pointing out that you are commenting about your dislike of Windows on an article about OneDrive (not Windows) for Mac (also not Windows). Its about as off topic as coming to an article about Sony improving something on the PlayStation and saying that you hate Sony TVs and prefer LG.
    • Nvidia's GeForce NOW summer sale drops prices for Ultimate and Premium memberships by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Nvidia has a fresh update for GeForce NOW subscribers today, bringing in more games to add to its ever-growing supported titles list. At the same time, the company announced the kick-off for its summer sale for the streaming subscription service, dropping the prices for both its premium packages for anyone looking to upgrade or join. The offer is for the 12-month membership options that the company offers. This drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. Next, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping prices by $70 from the original $199.99. "The Performance membership delivers smooth, high-quality cloud gaming across devices, with streaming up to 1080p at 60 frames per second (fps) and access to RTX-powered servers for supported games," says Nvidia, describing its tiers. "The Ultimate membership steps things up with RTX 4080‑ or 5080‑class performance in the cloud, supporting up to 4K and beyond on ultrawide displays, up to 120 fps, and advanced features like ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex for a more responsive, visually rich experience." With the sales out of the way, here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: NBA THE RUN (New release on Steam, available on June 9) Witchspire (New release on Steam, available on June 10) SpaceCraft (New release on Steam, available on June 11) Duet Night Abyss (Launcher) DOOM Eternal (Epic Games Store) The Elder Scrolls Online (Xbox, available on Game Pass) Farever (Steam) World of Tanks: HEAT (Wargaming) Nvidia plans to add support for a bunch of more games during the rest of June. Find the full announcement from last week over here. Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
    • It's actually shocking how logs filling disks has been a constant issue going back for decades, yet we see very little improvement over the years. Even in the server world, its actually shockingly common for a server to either go totally down, or have a critical alert raised due to logs filling disks.
    • YouTube has finally brought back its DMs feature, but only in these countries by David Uzondu Late last year, YouTube started testing a "new" way to share videos directly with friends, without having to leave the app. Now, the video giant has announced that is now rolling out a revamped direct messaging inbox, which lets you share videos, Shorts, and live streams and have conversations about them, directly on YouTube. The platform limits this feature to 18+ users who are signed in to a verified channel and use the latest mobile app version. Direct messaging on YouTube first became a thing back in 2017 inside the mobile app (later renamed to "Messages"), where users could chat one-on-one and share clips directly, but all that came to an end on September 18, 2019, when Google decided to shut it down after giving users a month to download a .zip file archive of their past chats. No one really knows why YouTube killed the feature, but users were encouraged to migrate to the public Comments section, on Community tab posts, and via YouTube Stories. The previous incarnation suffered from moderation challenges, prompting Google to implement stricter safety guidelines and age verifications for this new iteration. Here's a list of the countries where the re-launched feature is currently available, though note that Brand Accounts do not have access to it, at least for now: Countries American Samoa Austria Belgium Brazil Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Guam Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Northern Mariana Islands Norway Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Romania Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland U.S. Virgin Islands United Kingdom United States Before you can use the feature, you first have to send an invite link to your contact. Invite links expire exactly seven days after you create them. If the person on the other end accepts the invite, you can exchange videos directly and text back and forth inside the app. To delete a message, just long-press on the message and tap unsend to remove it for both users. You can also delete entire conversations by long-pressing the thread and selecting delete, but the other person will continue to see the chat history on their end. To make sure everything remains safe, YouTube monitors these messages to ensure they follow Community Guidelines.
