An Awsome Honda

SAE is THE universal measurement in the industry. WHy? Because when using BHP, the engine is not connected to anything directly. There's the timing belt running, and that's it. The rest is fed to the engine separately. SAE has all the amenities attached and it's a more realistic rating of performance. Most companies will never list the whp because then you will see a serious downfall in your ratings. SAE is just more fair for the consumer. listing bhp just confuses people who assume hp is hp and don't know any better (which is what they're banking on)

Well, whenever I read a UK auto magazine or watch Top Gear, they always specify BHP - and it's always within about 5HP of what the manufacturer lists for the car.

It's entirely possible that they're wrong and simply don't know what BHP is. I have no idea. For the most part, all you'll see is SAE HorsePower reported by manufacturers. And you'll only ever see WHP on a dyno (occasionally with an SAE estimated conversion).

What do you mean what am I comparing that to? that is the USEABLE horsepower of the vehicle (whp).

585613665

Okay... but that still doesn't *mean* anything unless you're comparing it to another vehicle's HP.

Having 230 WHP doesn't determine how fast the car is. The torque, weight, traction, and so on all will affect your actual performance.

WHP is good for comparing modded cars, usually to determine which mods create the best overall performance.

SAE HP and torque curves are better for comparing engines.

yes, for ENGINES, SAE is the best. For drivetrains, whp is best.

I do however VERY highly agree that there's a lot more to a vehicle than horsepower (any rating). I actually place torque as the highest on my list. No matter what, I like to see a high torque number. Weight can always be reduced, traction can always be increased, but the drivetrain itself will pretty much stay the same. A bit different gearing, maybe a different differential gearing, but in general it stays roughly the same.

A bit further down the post i changed it to RL after realizing it was a mix up and according to acura.com this model does have 300bhp as standard , All legends after 1995 came with the 3.5L engines as far as i know... besides 0.3 of a liter is not a big difference is it :o

From Acura.com

The 2005 Acura RL is not just an all-new, class-leading performance sedan. It's the quintessential luxury sedan. Upon first glance, its dramatic styling beckons. On closer inspection, its countless technological feats are overtly apparent. Case in point: a 300-horsepower, V-6, VTEC? engine and the revolutionary Super Handling All-Wheel Drive? (SH-AWD?).

585613139

Well even so you haven't proven me wrong, I know the new RL has a 300hp engine, it's not that hard to figure out and since I've been a car guys for as long as I can remember it's fairly common knowledge to me since it's a new car and has been reviewed a good bit.

And yes 0.3L can make a big difference. One car I can think of has a difference of 0.4L which in turn generates 85 more horsepower, so unlike what you think, it can make a big difference.

Thats because Legends were not "available" in the uk until recently, mine is a grey import from japan, i have seen quite a few in california (about 5000 in the usa). Legends are quite popular in japan coz its manufactured there. I am assuming not many in the uk know of this cars existence so its pretty rare, which makes it even more special to own one, knowing its a different car to others! :pinch:

im in the US i see maybe 2 a yr lol

585604289

i think California has the most number of Legends, Vigors, and Integras..

my mom used to own an 87 Legend L sweetest car she ever owned

and they are very beautiful cars! i don't get how someone can say it's ugly

I don;t see how "awesome" and "honda" can be in the same sentence withou contradicting

only ricer fools believe in awesome hondas

585647287

Jeez.... How many times do i have to mention this... Its "Awsome" Honda because The car is 15 years old, Runs Like a new car and has lasted this long without any problems and still going strong... Sure its not the "Best" or the "Fastest" car in the world! but give the car a break would you! And I am no Ricer... I just happen to own this car , so do a lot of people and no ones complaining about it!

:alien:

lose the rims the boot spoiler, and those dumbass window shields and it might look alot better.

 Tell me some thing i dont know!

btw can i keep the headlamp eyelids or do they need to be taken out as well...

I know the Rims are of poor taste but i just replaced the stock ones so need to save up a bit more to get new ones hopefully  ! Getting a lot of complaints about the rims these days!

The window shields keep the rain out of the door glass and keep it clear coz am sure you know how often it rains in the uk.

The boot spoiler ... well that jus came with the car and i wasnt bothered about it

:alien:

I love my Lexus 1992 Es300. Sporty, and still very high tech. 0-60mph in 4 seconds and all stock parts. Love her.

585647318

Yes those are great cars too.. Is yours a Grey import or a UK spec! and i totally agree with the "Very high tech" bit. And are you sure it does 0-60mph in 4 secs :o!!!

all i'm trying to say is under all that wierdness there is a very pretty car.

the spoiler is total gayness, I suggest you speak to someone in the modding business see if you can get it off and put a open spoiler will improve dramatically, next those rims are just strange, check out www.rochfordtyres.co.uk I suggest these

and those window covers, there just very old man looking loose them and put up with the rain dude.

after doing that I reckon you'd be looking good.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
