I cant believe norton is so up there. its so so wrong!

Actually, yeah. Shouldn't Norton & Symantec be seperate? Since Norton's is the home bloated version and Symantec is the business *better* version, I think it's appropriate.

ppl just aren't informed, like

the free avg version can easily be outclassed by avast

norton and mcafee by nod32 and symantec corp

and so on...

i'm currently testing out avast, must say it's very good for a free av, going to try antivir after, may also try bitdefender... f-prot doesn't have a trial version which is jack ****!

agree norton since version 2004 its a complete overbloated crap i used norton before but since i moved trend micro pc-cillin 2005 i never look back i tried symantec corporate and i can say that its completely different from norton. Symantec should remake norton and make it like their corporate version

^ they won't do that, because the average customer,

a) loves the flashy colourful new version look and thinks they spent their money well

b) does not know how to open task manager and open the processes tab

c) does not realize that the system slow down (maybe not on a 1 gig, but not many noobs have 1 gigs) and is happy to call tech support which walk them through the format procedure or they drop their computer off to repair and receive a formatted computer

d) enjoys the easy interface, u have to admit it is an easy one

e) doesn't understand the term alternative

f) is lost in advertising gimmicks

g) only knows norton because it is the most popular one

h) sees norton popup with a virus warning but isn't disappointed that norton can't fix it, after all norton is the best and if it can't do it, at least it told them they have a virus!

i have used many anti-virus programs, and i have seen how well one will do on one system, and how it will be complete s*** on another. On my system I use mcafee,

Norton was crap, but at work i have to use norton, because mcafee is crap there.

so my best anti-virus is Throw Your PC out the window, otherwise make sure you have

stuff backed up

by the way, i have never had any serious infections on either PC (that i know of that is)

See, here's where intuition can come in handy. You support a better product by introducing it to the public and get them to like it. That way, Norton AV can stay out of the picture and Symantec AV can be the new top dog for consumers.

They'll see that people like less bloat, more function and rethink Norton's lousy crap.

Wishful thinking but fun if it works. :D

Good thread, just what I was looking for.

I currently have NAV 2005 but I think I will try Symantec Antivirus Corporate!

Is that a good choice?  :)

yes jorge, you posted that half way up the page as well, no need to post again unless you've changed your antivirus.

i've been using avast for a year or so and what can i say, it is the best in my opinion.
