Linspire is a good distro for those who may be "Computer-phobes". Or, more accurately perhaps, "Linux-phobes".

My experience with 4.5 showed that it auto-setup my son's USB WiFi adapter (something that no other distro - or even WinXP would do).

Experienced Linuxers or those who like to tinker with their computer might prefer another distro, but this makes a good introduction to Linux (and shows that Linux can "just work" without having to compile your own).
