I can't get in trouble doing this can I?  Is this illegal?

its not illegal at all..every linspire distro that has come out has a coupon(if you can find it) they dont make the money off the distro whewn selling it honestly there money comes from the click and run service. so they dont mind giving it away to those good enough to come across the coupon.

I don't share my computer with anyone else, so that makes no difference to me at all.

It's not only having to worry about other users, it's the point that you're more vulnerable to serious problems. If you don't know why all users being super-user is bad you shouldn't be using any Linux distro at all.

That's right, i forgot people walk into using all OS's knowing the heart and soul of them. My apologies, learning as you go is stupid. I should already have the knowledge necessary before i even start.

Downloading now. It looks like no one's in line for the FTP download :D

I'd say that besides their push on CNR, Linspire is good. The original Lindows 4.0 never detected my sound drivers, but in Linspire 4.5 that was fixed. Hopefully this version will be better.

BTW, last time I checked Linspire couldn't read NTFS partitions. Does this still apply to Linspire 5-0? I will install this beside XP.

Installed it on 2nd HD, Dual booted with XP Pro.

Linspire could read the XP volume, but not vice-versa.

Had a problem adjusting the refresh rate, and it was killing my eyes to look at (minor problem)

Only real problem I had was getting it to see my MN-730 PCI 802.11g adapter.

Tried using NDISwrapper with microsoft AND homebrew drivers, no luck- it simply refused to show up on the network adapter list!! When I did ndiswrapper -L it would list it as "Device driver, Hardware found" but still no go.

Uninstalled by deleting partition and FIXMBR with recovery console.

Coupon Linspire4RA is not intended for the product/service you are trying to apply it to.

doesn't work

Wrong product? Go for the $49.95 one in this screenie. It works; I just tried it.

It does not worked for the "Retail Package" version, where they ship you a boxed set.

56k and 46 hours  whooo hooo yipee.............  :pinch:

Just keep your line occupied while you sleep. :D

8 hours x 6 days = 48 hours... damn, that is a long time, especially if your ISP caps your hours

EDIT: that ISO I downloaded off FTP came up with some errors after verifying the MD5 checksum. I'd probably suggest to everyone that they use BT - at least hashing exists

Thanks for the info but btw, where to get Linspire Live 5?

looks like it might be on the CD .iso

"New All-In-One CD for running "live" from CD or installing"
