Ha ha, I only use AIM because all of my 172 buddies use it (with 3 or 4 on MSN and Yahoo!) I use Trillian just because of the tabs and chat logging and its pretty UI due to ugly AIM... So once Triton goes gold (and Beta2 and up).. I'll be a happy customer.

^Still can't log into the Triton message boards though :-/

Well this is on the main page now:

And Neowin confirms it as the next AIM.. For you two doubters

Last time I ever post news on Neowin again.. thanks shockz for making a newcomer feel so welcome and using your power for your own personal views. It's people like you that give journalism a bad name and think they are better than other people because they are a mod.

But all is good, have fun kids.

dude, is it really that big of a deal?

Go outside, get some air, but i really don't understand why you're getting so ****ed off about this.

I mean just imagine if bill gates were bitching because people were saying Longhorn isnt version 6 of Windows. who really cares? its JUST a name

This may sound stupid but u know in the regular AIM how u can right click a buddy and go on "Show Info" for their profile etc. ... how do u do it on here??

I'm missing that feature as well.

One thing I probably use regular in AIM and its not there in this beta.

I'm sure it will be added as new betas are made available.

Still pretty crappy looking and clunky.

Also I got a survey pop up through IE while logged through AIM.

Which made me mad. More pop-ups through my chat client.

Not cool.

Are you kidding me?

Grow up. Your the one who's calling me arrogant etc...

I go by the facts... not assumptions.

I have no regret for my posts/actions... as I did nothing wrong.

I don't see how i'm abusing my status and power. All I did was edit a title for clarity. Way to get up set about something so minor.

Wow, I actually like this client a lot.

Like other people said, 99% of my friends use AIM so I can't switch over to MSN or Yahoo which blows. I currently use an AIM 5.5 with DeadAIM 4.5 setup as well and that works pretty well except for the god forsaken butt-ugly interface but this looks pretty decent so far :). Just has some bugs but with future betas, this is actually something I'm going to be paying attention to!

I thoguht this was a bit interesting - AOL *MAY* say no more to AIM Ads!! After the wonderful exploit, heres something interesting: www.beta.aol.com - on the left side the "featured test" changed from the AOL Browser to the AIM Triton test. The catch? the screen shot shows NO AD in the buddy list! If this is true for the final... AOL is really listening to what we want and hate. Hera have a look:

Source: simply, www.beta.aol.com

Yes.. that same exploit/hack has been done already in this thread. What I was trying to say was... when you download the Triton software... it shows the ads by default... and the Ad option in prefs. is hidden. If the average person never went to Neowin or another tech site, and found this hack, then they wuold be stuch with the ads. Its interesting that the new screen shot on www.beta.aol.com shows the Triton buddy list without ads - so I am hoping it will go final with no ads, or the choice to remove them (with the ad pref. shown by default) What do you guys think?

    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
    • Interesting read. I knew the adware was quite controversial at the time, however never realised to the point The Guardian wrote an article about Patchou. I just said no and enjoyed his creation, I’d probably be a lot more wary of something like that today though.
